As the kiss slowed, and as your lips separated, you noticed he kept his eyes closed for a couple of seconds before opening them again.

"I better go." He said. You frowned.

"Why?"

"You want me to stay?" He asked, tilting his head slightly. You opened your mouth. Then you shut it. You actually didn't know. You breathed in, your arms loosening, and you moved back to put a little distance between the two of you.

"I ...I don't.." You stammered, trying to force your brain to form a coherent thought amongst the fog of your orgasm aftermath. He waited patiently, his hand coming to rest on your cheek.

"It's fine Luka, I'll see you tomorrow." He answered for you, offering you a small smile before pressing a brief kiss to your lips. You continued to stare at him as he took his hands away from your body, as he stepped back, and started getting dressed. Your brain was not working at that moment. You were just staring at him as he pulled his trousers up, as he tugged his shirt on, grabbed his shoes, and left.

You stared at the door as your mind spiralled. Did you want him to stay? If he did, it felt it would mean something, like you two were a thing.

You supposed you were. It's not like you were getting with anyone else. It's not like you wanted to anymore.

Were you suddenly Bucky Barnes?

When did it stop being a weird game of no strings attached sex? When did you start feeling sad that he wouldn't stay after?

You rushed to put some clothes on.

You ran out of your room, and out of the lab.

You turned left, and sprinted down the corridor.

You didn't even knock when you reached the door, you just swung it open. He was taking his shirt off, about to put it on the back of his chair, when his head snapped up to you.

"What's wrong?" He asked. Innocently. So fucking innocently.

You walked up to him, grabbed his face, and kissed him, pushing him back against the desk. His hands found your wrists and he pulled your hands from him.

"Luka what's wrong?" He repeated, seemingly unphased by the fact you just jumped on him.

"Nothing, nothing just-"

"Luka." He commanded. You huffed.

"I don't know what this is." You blurted out. He opened his mouth but you just kept talking. "I don't know it is, or what it means, but you don't need to leave after sex. I'd rather you didn't leave after sex. I guess we're a thing, or I like you, or whatever. I don't know what else to tell you apart from...you didn't need to leave."

You watched him breathe in deeply after your jumbled mini-speech, then he licked his bottom lip.

"Okay." He said.

"Okay?"

"Yeah." He nodded.

"I meant it. I don't know what-"

"I know." He chuckled.

"And...you're fine with that?" You queried as you frowned at him. He just slid his hands around your waist and pulled you closer.

"To be honest, I haven't known what's going on the whole time I'm with you. I'm just along for the ride." He laughed. "You can figure it out in your own time, doll."

"I told you I don't like that nickname."

"You didn't like princess either," He retorted as he nuzzled into your neck. "And you let me call you that all the time."

"I don't like that one...less." You pouted, and he laughed into your neck before lifting his head up.

"Whatever you say." He said before kissing you again.

You stayed in Bucky's room that night. And when you woke up with his arm wrapped around you, you had to admit that you didn't entirely hate it.

You had a slow morning. You waking up, him waking up moments after. His arm tightening around your waist, tugging you closer to him. His lips finding your neck. His hands finding their way under your clothes.

Then, FRIDAY was reminding you that there was a meeting starting in ten minutes.

You grumbled as you climbed off of him, a sour expression on your face as you got dressed that he teased you about.

You perked up a little when he whispered in your ear that you could both come back to his room after the meeting.

He walked you to the lounge, where the team was meeting instead considering it was breakfast time. You were very grateful, realising that you really needed a coffee, and you made a beeline for the coffee pot once you were through the doors. Nat came up beside you as you were pouring a cup, and you wordlessly took her cup and filled it up as well.

You turned to head to the sofas when Nat stopped you, then reached up a hand and started playing with your hair, making it fall in front of your shoulder.

"What are you doing? It's too early for this." You frowned, and she smirked back.

"Figured you wouldn't want anyone else seeing that lovebite on your neck." She said with a wink before leaving you in your embarrassment.

You ran your fingers over your hair, just like she had, trying to flatten it against your neck. You sighed loudly and walked over to the sofas, sitting down slowly so that your hair didn't move. Nat caught your eye and you nodded in thanks.

You drank your coffee as you awaited the arrival of your father, who waltzed through the doors 10 minutes later as if unaware that you'd all been waiting, but that's just like Tony after all.

"I know you're all varying degrees of hungover, some more than others-" Tony said.

"Clint." Nat said pointedly. You looked over at Clint, who was laying across the single armchair with sunglasses on, his head on one armrest and his legs dangling over the other. He gave her a thumbs up.

"But, we need to come up with some ideas for a starting point. After that, I'll let you all go back to sobering up."

"How are you never hungover?" Sam grumbled, his eyes looking as tired as Clint probably felt.

"I can pace myself Birdbrain." Tony retorted.

"He has a banana bag of vitamins he hooks up before he sleeps." You chimed in, earning a glare from Tony and gasps from the rest of the team.

"Why do we not get that?!" Sam said in complete offence.

"Thanks kid." Tony sighed, rubbing his eyes.

"Tony I want a banana bag." Clint grunted, holding his hand up in the air.

"Alright! Come to the lab after and I'll give you one, just focus people, please!" Tony paused before getting back into Avenger mode. "We had our fun, now we have to get back to the fact that we still don't know how Hydra knew where to find my daughter."

"Still weird that you have a daughter." Bruce commented.

"Yeah thanks, can we just get over that part?" Tony snarked.

"We have to work out when we discussed where she would be." Steve added, and Tony seemed relieved that someone was finally taking this seriously.

"But the first time they attacked the compound, only we knew that she was here." Vision said.

"We need to look at someone who knew she was already here, and knew where we were going to take her."

"So current and past employees, that could have noticed who she was?" Tony suggested, making them nod. "Doesn't narrow the pool much seeing as she liked to sneak out."

You rolled your eyes, sipping your coffee while they talked about you as if you weren't in the room.

"When we were taking her to the safehouse though, it was only us that talked about that, right?" Sam asked as he leant forward in his seat.

"Right, which means that whoever spotted her the first time, they must have left bugs somewhere. The briefing room?" Steve queried. "Before you installed your extra security. Because then no one else went into that room, or any other room on these floors."

The team nodded, then fell into thought. You raised your cup, aiming to take another sip of coffee, when you froze.

No one, except...

No. It couldn't. Not...could it?

You felt someone nudge you, and snapped your head to see Bucky looking at you, jerking his head towards Tony. You looked at Tony, who had his eyebrows raised.

"You okay?" He asked you.

"Yeah! Yeah fine." You replied, clearing your throat after the words came out a bit squeaky.

"You were staring into space."

"I'm fine. Tired." Tony nodded at you and you swallowed a hard lump in your throat. You couldn't tell him what you thought. Not yet. Not until you knew for sure. He'd be livid if you were wrong.

You felt like his heart would break if you were right.
