《All Our Flaws Are Aligned [COMPLETED]》Dating

Over the next week, you kept to Tony's deal.

Somewhat.

Well, you kept the part of the deal where Tony said that Bucky had to accompany you everywhere. Like at 8 in the morning when you wanted coffee, and Bucky had to drag himself down to the lab to take you. Or at 11pm at night when you wanted ice cream, and again, he had to come down to take you to the kitchens.

The part of the deal that you weren't keeping, was keeping Bucky around.

You were enjoying getting him to take you somewhere, until you ultimately gave him the slip and disappeared, only to walk back into the lab a couple hours later by yourself, and usually finding Bucky waiting outside with a glare on his face. Then you would walk into the lab together, and as far as Tony was aware, Bucky had been attached to your side the entire time.

It had turned into quite a game recently. Bucky tried his best to catch up to you every time you slipped away, and even tried preempting when you would do it, but you just knew too much about the secret passageways through the compound for him to catch you every time.

You barely spoke to him while you were on your 'outings' other than 'We are going here'. He kept trying to ask you questions, kept trying to find out your name, but you ignored him every time. Or you made a sarcastic remark back. You were pretty sure he just had you saved under 'Annoying Woman' or something on his phone. But, you were finding the whole thing pretty fun. It broke up your monotonous days quite nicely.

The only other ....thing that had apparently developed during this time of Bucky being your bodyguard, was the dreams. You had started having more dreams that were incredibly similar to the one you had after the party. Of Bucky kissing you.

Sometimes more than kissing you.

Which really pissed you off, because then when you had to spend your day with him, which made you angrier. And being angry at Bucky as usually how the dreams started. You really needed to get laid soon, otherwise this was going to get out of control. I mean, kissing the most despicable supersoldier that worked for the literal Nazis? No thank you. Definitely was not going to happen. It was obviously because Bucky was the ONLY person other than Tony that you had been allowed to be around for weeks. And definitely because he was mildly attractive.

So, what else were you supposed to do in this situation?

You texted Bucky your plans.

You: I need to go out.

Bucky: Where? I think the compound has run out of ice cream by now.

You: I have a date. I need you to take me.

He didn't respond to that. You stared at your phone for 10 minutes before you realised he wasn't ever going to reply. You threw your phone on your bed and huffed as you went over to your mirror. You were dressed and ready, and your eyeliner was in a perfect line across your lid. If you had to sneak out through the vents again, none of it would get massively messed up.

Five minutes later, there was a knock on the lab door. Tony had installed a little beeper in your room, which would beep whenever it was Bucky at the door, so that you knew it was safe to answer. It was beeping now.

So, apparently he was going to take you, he just didn't have very good manners about texting back.

You grabbed your things, then headed over and opened the door. Bucky looked you up and down, which made you feel...weird. You found yourself doing the same to him.

No! This is exactly why you had a date.

"Didn't fancy texting me back then?" You scoffed.

"How do you have a date?" He replied, ignoring your question completely. You rolled your eyes and shut the door behind you as you stepped out of the lab.

"Someone asked me on a date, I said yes. Surely even in the 1800s you guys dated?" You snarked at him as you walked down the hallway to the garage.

"We did yeah, but how the hell did you meet anyone to be asked?"

"You saying I'm ugly or something?"

"I'm saying I am the only person you have been around. And I definitely haven't asked you on a date."

"Fully aware, wouldn't want you to anyway, Dr Freeze." You said in a very bored tone.

"You sure about that?" He said, and you glanced at him just as he smiled at you.

"This century, there's something called the internet, where you can meet and talk to people." You responded, ignoring his question completely. And ignoring the slightly warm feeling it gave you. This was also a recent development - Bucky flirting with you, and you trying to act like it wasn't bothering you.

It wasn't. Mostly.

"So you're going on a date with someone that you haven't ever met before?" Bucky said, interrupting your thoughts. "I feel bad for them, they won't know how much of a handful you are."

"Wow, amazing sarcasm for you, I'm proud." You said mockingly, opening the garage doors and stopping, as you didn't know which vehicle was Bucky's. He stopped beside you. "Well?" You gestured to the numerous bikes and cars in the garage, as if to say 'which one'. He just smiled, annoyingly, and pointed to the Davidson motorcycle.

Maybe he thought you'd be shocked, refuse to go or something. But that wasn't your style. You just walked over to it, swung your leg over the back and scooted until you could hold onto the back rail. You looked up at him and smiled, while he just looked at you in surprise.

Without another word though, he walked over, got on the bike in front of you, and handed you a helmet. You put it on in silence, then settled your posture.

"Where am I going?" He asked.

"Roqueforts on Main." You replied.

"It's easier if you hold onto me. Means you won't throw me off balance."

"Fat chance." You said, gripping tighter on the rail behind your butt. He shrugged, turned the bike on, then peeled out of the garage.

You weren't used to riding motorbikes. At all.

Everytime he turned the slightest corner, you felt yourself slipping. You knew that passengers are supposed to lean with the rider, and you tried your best, but you could also tell that Bucky was struggling to keep you both upright.

Fuck it, you thought, you were gonna have to hold onto him.

As soon as you got to the next traffic light, and stopped, you quickly switched your hands from the rail to around his waist, being careful to hold onto his top instead of him. You felt his chest rumble as he laughed, but he didn't say anything.

He felt very muscly under your arms.

You got to the restaurant 10 minutes later, and you rushed to get off the bike, stumbling as your legs felt like complete jelly. You threw the helmet off, and waved at Bucky, heading into the restaurant as you fluffed your hair a bit. Your date, Josh, was waiting just inside the doors for you, and he smiled when you entered.

"Hi." You said sweetly, as he brought you in for a hug. Weird, considering this was your first meeting, but not the worst.

"Hey," He replied as he let you go. "You look even better than your pictures." He said as he looked you up and down. Just like Bucky had. This time though, you didn't feel much. You just smiled. "They're ready for us, if you'd be so kind?" He said as he held out his arm, and you linked yours with his, letting him lead you to the table.

As far as meeting people on the internet after 4 years of having no dates, this seemed pretty good so far.

Once you reached your table, Josh got your chair out for you, which you thought was really sweet. Just as he sat down, however, you found a shadow had fallen over your table. You looked up and saw the face you were dreading.

"What are you doing?" You snapped at Bucky, who just smiled and grabbed a chair from another table. Surely he wasn't going to sit there the whole time?

"Chaperoning." He said, his smile not leaving his face. "Hi, I'm Bucky, the bodyguard." He said to your date, holding out his hand for Josh to shake. Josh looked bewildered. He looked at you, then back at Bucky, and hesitantly shook his hand. Bucky took the menu off the table and started looking.

You tried to mouth a 'sorry' to Josh, but he was still staring at Bucky in shock. And Bucky was sitting there oblivious.

"These ribs sound nice." Bucky commented, ignoring the obvious tension across the table. The waiter came over, and looked shocked when he saw three people at the table, when he was clearly expecting two.

"I...uhhh...welcome to Roqueforts. Can I get you...three a drink?" The waiter asked in the most pleasant way he possibly could.

"Gin martini." You sighed, desperately. "Josh?" You asked, grabbing his attention at last from Bucky.

"Uhh...Just a soda. I'm gonna run to the restroom, I'll be right back." He muttered, grabbing his things and whizzing away from the table.

"Any bottled beer for me." Bucky smiled at the waiter, who quickly left the table. You glared at Bucky.

"You absolute asshole, go away." You snapped.

"Language dear." He tutted, but smiling all the same. "I figured you wouldn't run from your date, so for once, I can actually fulfill my duties."

"Well I hope you're ready to chaperone all the way to Josh's house, because that's where I'll be ending up."

Bucky's eyes widened for a split second, then he licked his lips and put his menu down and put his elbow on the table, leaning closer to you.

"First off, no you won't. That guy is obviously an idiot and not worth your time. Second, what makes you think he'll sleep with you on the first date?"

"He's a guy."

"And they all wanna sleep with you? High praise for yourself."

"No, but it is normal for internet dates now. And I get to decide who is worth my time."

"I'm saying you don't even know this guy."

"This isn't the 40s, we don't have to marry each other to have sex anymore." You argued.

"We didn't back then. Just had to keep it a secret." He smiled. And winked. Fucking creep.

The waiter came back with the three drinks, and you gulped your martini straight away, gesturing at the waiter to bring you another. He looked a bit shocked, but nodded and headed to the bar nonetheless. Bucky sipped his beer as he watched you with interest.

"He's not coming back, you know." He said after a few seconds of silence.

Your shoulders tensed. You did know. You watched Josh take his phone and jacket to the 'bathroom'. But you weren't quite ready to admit it to Bucky. And for once, Bucky didn't seem to want to point out that he was right.

The waiter arrived with your second martini just as you polished off the first, and asked for your food orders. Before you could say anything, Bucky ordered the ribs for himself, and the fillet steak for you.

"What are you doing?" You asked in suspicion as the waiter left once again.

"Waiting for our food."

"I'm not eating here with you. I want to leave." You said harshly, throwing your napkin on the table and going to stand up. Bucky grabbed your arm and stopped you.

"Now look, you can't act like a princess, causing a scene and leaving early in public. You'll draw attention to yourself. Just eat the damn food and then we'll go."

You slowly sat back down. He was right. You couldn't risk anyone spotting you, documenting a 'scene' and having it get back to the wrong people. But that didn't stop you from glaring at Bucky.

"What if I didn't want the steak?" You decided to ask pettily.

"Don't you?" He smiled at you, holding your gaze. You chewed your tongue, then decided to look away and drink your martini instead.

You did want the steak.

When the food came, you ate in silence. You had nothing to say to Bucky, and he had nothing to say to you. He outright ruined your date. Ruined your chance at getting laid. Ruined your chance of getting these stupid dreams out of your head. And now you were also having to spend an hour in a restaurant with him when you could be...well, anywhere else.

Worst date night ever.
