"Jess?"

"Yes?"

"Do you believe in God?" I asked, staring at the clear blue sky.

Jess and I had a free period so we decided to get high and listen to music while at it, we ended up laying flat on the football field and staring at the sky in silence cause that's what good weed does to people.

"Yes, sometimes I feel like I only believe in God because my parents preached to me about God all the time. Do you?" She asked.

"Yeah but there was a time when I didn't." I responded.

"Oh, Emily Bennett has a story to tell, Please do tell." She turned to look at me, I didn't meet her eyes, I continued looking at the sky. Preparing myself to tell the story that I never told.

"My mom died when I was ten, she was a great mom and she believed in God, I once asked her why God was letting her die, she said that everything happens for a reason, that everyone is a reason and that nothing in this world is a coincidence." I felt my eyes sting but I continued, "I still stopped believing in God after she died." I wiped a tear that rolled from my eye.

"What made you start?" She asked.

"My Dad and the world's biggest Mysteries like this morning when I woke up, he was the first thing I saw." I smiled, remembering the fascinating sight.

"Adrian?" She snorted a laugh.

"Fucking Adrian." I chuckled, she laughed. "I just stared at him sleep, Jess, he was so.. beautiful." I said.

"Ah man, you know shit's getting real when a girl calls a guy beautiful." She said more to herself.

"I just feel so many emotions towards that guy, and I didn't even know loving someone this much was possible, I'm fucking losing my grip every day, I'm falling in love with him every day especially when we have super hot dirty talking mad sex and I don't know how to make it stop." I whined frustratedly.

"Mystery of love." I heard her whisper.

"And so I thought to myself, if God doesn't exist then who's responsible for all this shit." I pointed out.

"Someone has to be responsible." She said like it was a fact.

"Someone has to be fucking responsible." I repeated.

We both laughed and went silent again.

I liked the fact that Jess was a good listener and that the silence didn't make it awkward, I was comfortable and so was she. That was all I ever wanted in a girl friend so I guessed it was right to say suck on that Haley and Carley.

"You do realize that you've never talked about you and Adrian having super hot dirty talking mad sex, right?" She broke the silence after some some, I smiled at her question.

Not the kind of girl that talked about her sex life, well, until I got high.

"He's just so good at it, Jess, he's so fucking good." I ratted myself out.

"How good though?" She questioned, I bit on my lower lip.

"Like me cumin three times good." I ran a hand down my face.

She let out a very loud shocked gasp and then she busted out laughing.

"Bitch, sit up, I gotta hear this." She sat up and dragged my arm, I sat up and crossed my legs.

"So the other night, after we ditched that rich kid's party, right?"

"Right."

"You know that scene in the movie where the couple starts taking their clothes off from the front door all the way to the bedroom?" I asked.

"Yeah?" She was trying so hard to hold her laugh.

"That was Adrian and I at my house, Jesus Christ we even left the front door open." I laughed at the memory, she snickered.

"Literally? Wasn't your dad home?"

"No, my dad is also madly in love with someone." I scoffed and rolled my eyes.

"So he took you to your bedroom and rocked your world?" She asked, the smile returned to my lips.

He did rock my world.

"He took me to my bathroom, Jess, the goddamn bathroom, I never thought shower sex would be that.. euphoric." I rubbed my temples and shook my head.

"Emily?" She called.

"Yeah?" I answered.

"I want your life." She said.

"No. You just want an Adrian." I grinned at her.

"Damn right." She high fived me, "Speak of the devil." She said, looking behind me, I turned and saw Adrian walking towards us on the field.

I hadn't seen him since that morning when we woke up next to each other, how was it possible that I had already missed him. And how was I going to live the rest of my life without him after summer.

He reached where we were and sat next to me, he was looking at me the way he looked at me when he wanted to kiss me but I never liked it when he kissed me in front of my friends so he never did.

"Hey." I whispered when he kept staring at me. His eyes dropped to my lips then he looked at Jess and then back at me.

"Ah fuck it. Jessica, close your eyes." He said before placing his hand on the side of my face, pulling me in for a kiss, which was not a peck on the lips. It was a full on heated kiss that gave me butterflies.

"Okay stop, we know you're in love but you can stop now." I heard Jess speak. I giggled.

"Are you guys high?" He pulled away and stared at my lips.

"Yes." We both responded in Union.

"Bad bad girls. Oh and I think I saw Gina and Cole making out in the hallway." He said, I widened my eyes at him.

"WHAT!" Jess exclaimed in shock as she got up and picked her backpack from the grass. Adrian laid down and rested his head on my lap.

I saw Jess come to a halt, she was still standing over us so I looked up at her, she had a smile on her face, like the sight of Adrian and I genuinely amused her.

Probably shouldn't have told her about the sex thing.

"I know you guys are gonna end up fucking this up but please, don't fuck it up." She pointed at us warningly before sprinting back to the school.

Strange.

"What was she on about?" He looked up at me.

"I have no idea." I shook my head and laughed.

"You guys should seriously quit smoking weed." He chuckled.

"Some day, one of these days. Now, what class did you just come out of and what did Adrian Mackey learn today?" My super high question made it out before I could stop it.

"Drama class, actually, and I learned something strangely satisfying." His tone was candid and his eyes didn't meet mine.

"Like what? How to nail a kissing scene?" I stifled a laugh, he didn't laugh, he looked pretty serious.

"Emily, do you have a quote that best describes love?" He asked the question that made my heart beat faster.

"Oh God, I'm too high for this subject." I shook my head disapprovingly.

"C'mon, I know you have them placed in there somewhere and it's not like you're not dying to tell me all about them." I saw him roll his eyes at me.

He was right though.

What was he, reading my mind now?

I sighed defeatedly, "there's so much of you in my heart." I quoted. "I think that's the shortest yet bestest description of love that I've ever read but that's just me." I shrugged.

He did't respond, infact, he looked distant.

The fucking subject about love made things weird.

"Anyway." I heaved a sigh, he stared up at me again, "Jess and I were talking about prom and graduation right before you rudely interrupted, so I think Gina is going with Cole to prom so Stacey and Jess are taking each other and since-"

"I love you." He whispered in the softest lowest tone I had ever heard.

If that didn't cut off my rambling and knock all the weed out of my system then I didn't know what did.

"W-what?" I looked down at him, bug-eyed and a little confused.

He sat up, my eyes followed him and then he looked at me, our eyes meeting glancingly.

"I love you, Emily." He said it again but I felt like my ears were still deceiving me, I felt like I was still high and being very delusional but if that were the case then why was my heart pounding so hard against my chest and screaming he loves me.

Definitely too high for this.
