《The Ecstasy Of Faking It》Chapter 28: Words I couldn't take back.

"Same time tomorrow?" Asked Charlie as he got up from my bed, I looked up at him and I couldn't help but wonder, was he a good guy or bad guy? I just couldn't give him a category.
"Yeah, sure." I huffed and leaned my head back against my headboard.
"Cool." He shoved his books in his backpack and I watched him.
It had been exactly four days since our principal forced me into tutoring him again, same old 'his grades are slipping and he might lose his scholarship so you have to tutor him' bullshit. I only agreed because tutoring people did benefit me too.
And no, my boyfriend knew nothing about it. Mostly because he hated Charlie's guts and Charlie was my ex.
I know what you are thinking, he called you a slut but he apologized for that and I didn't exactly forgive him, I just simply said 'okay' in order to make him comfortable during the tutoring and we didn't exchange any uneducational words it was strictly professional.
He swung his backpack over his shoulder and looked at me, he opened his mouth to say something but nothing came out, he turned to leave but then again he stopped and spun around.
"Hey, are we cool?" He finally asked.
"Cool?" I repeated.
"I feel like you've been a little cold towards me." He said.
"We really don't have to have this conversation." I shook my head at him as I looked down at the books spread out on my bed.
"Yeah I know but I just feel like you're so mad at me." He stepped back towards my bed.
I was. I was mad at him.
"Well, you did call me a slut and I-"
I was cut off by someone trying to unlock my door, then there was a knock.
Shit.
"My Dad's home." I announced.
My Dad didn't know about the tutoring either.
"What are you doing in there?" Said the person on the other side of my door.
"Is that..?"
"Adrian. Shit, get out." I panicked and jumped from my bed and went to open my window, Charlie gave me a baffled stare and I glared at him.
"Out! Now!" I whisper shouted. He rolled his eyes before lazily striding towards me.
"Emily, Jesus Christ." He knocked again.
"You should just tell him." Charlie looked me in the eye as he climbed out my window.
I ignored him, he didn't know Adrian like I did.
Like the athlete he was, he climbed out my window like a pro, safely landing on the grass and waving up at me but I didn't wave back, I just shut the window and hurried to open my door.

Adrian was leaning his shoulder against the door frame with his hands in his pockets, he looked so hot in a white t-shirts, jeans and black timber boots.
I smiled at him but he had that suspicious look on his face.
"What were you doing?" He stepped into the room and looked around, my heart raced.
Did he by any chance hear Charlie?
"Uhm, nothing?" It came out more of a question. He eyed me with narrowed eyes and then he smiled.
"Emily, were you doing something naughty?" He asked, tilting his head and looking amused.
I released a breath of relief and rolled my eyes at him for being so dirty minded.
"Depends, whatchu mean by naughty?" I shut the door and walked back to my bed, plopping down.
"You know, watching porn or-"
"I don't think I wanna hear the end of that sentence so please stop." I cut him, he laughed.
"So you were really doing something naughty." He also sat on my bed beside me.
"Oh my God, dude stop." I exclaimed.
"What?" He raised his shoulders.
"I wasn't watching porn or whatever." I waved my hand dismissingly.
"Why do you say that like it's a bad thing?" He questioned, my eyes rolled to the ceiling.
"Watching porn?" I asked in a bored tone.
"Yeah."
"Maybe because it is." I shrugged, hoping that he would cut the conversation short.
"Like you've never watched it." He chuckled.
"I haven't, now please let's talk about something else okay?" I looked at him.
"You've really never watched porn?" He led on.
"Oh my God, Adrian, this conversation is making me cringe in so many ways, please please please let's not talk about this?"
"Holy shit, you're not kidding? so wait, does that mean that you've never.. you know." His tone trailed off curiously.
"No, I don't know" I sighed.
"Touch yourself?" He asked.
I face palmed, hid in my pillow even. He laughed.
"I'm kicking you out if you don't stop, I swear to God." I felt embarrassment shiver throughout my body.
"Okay fine, I'll stop." He surrendered and picked one of the books on my bed.
"Who's handwriting is this." He turned the book to show me the writing.
Shit, Charlie left his notebook.
I couldn't say that it was my handwriting because he knew exactly what mine looked like and I sure as hell couldn't say it was Charlie's.
"It belongs to a guy in my chemistry class, I took it by mistake." I lied.
He turned the page and kept looking at the writing, my heart was beating so fast I thought it was gonna jump out of my chest, he averted his eyes from the book to look at me.

"Are you sure?" He asked, looking a little serious.
I gulped.
"Y-yeah, why?" I moved a little.
"Nothing, I just thought I saw it somewhere else." He closed the notebook and stared at me, "I kinda missed you." He brought back his smile.
My heart went from racing to literally exploding in my chest.
"Kinda?"
"That's what I said, and I have bad news to tell you." He became serious again.
"Are you breaking up with me already?" I joked.
"With this never watched porn thing? I just have to." He replied playfully, I laughed lightly.
"That stuff is nasty. What's up?" I asked him.
He went quiet for a second then he spoke...
"I got a scholarship." He said. I widened my eyes at him, I thought he was kidding at first but he didn't laugh or say it was just a joke, he was still serious. I found myself moving closer to him and engulfing him into a tight hug.
"Holy shit, Adrian, that's great news." I cheered with my arms still around him but he wasn't hugging me back.
"I just said it's bad news so you don't have to fucking celebrate." His chest vibrated while he spoke, I giggled.
"Why is it bad news?" I pulled away and looked him in the eyes.
"Because it involves studying theatre in Los Angeles." He rolled his eyes at his own statement.
"I don't know how that's bad news." I suddenly felt confused.
"Do I look like someone who can become an actor to you?" He deadpanned.
If only he knew.
"Uh, fuck yeah. You totally look like someone everyone would google after watching in a movie for the first time." I told him.
"You're only saying that because you're my girlfriend." He said.
My girlfriend, it felt so surreal.
"No, Adrian, do you even know how many girls have been wanting to fuck you since the day you decided to have this mysterious bad boy vibe of yours?" I gestured, he pursed his lips.
"I do not have a bad boy vibe and you're not going to convince me to go major in theatre, I wanna be one of those people who didn't go to college." He shrugged, my mouth fell open.
"C'mon babe, don't you wanna be the next Ryan Reynolds?" I nudged his shoulder playfully.
"What is it with women and Ryan Reynolds?" He asked.
"He's the sexiest man alive." I shrugged.
"You just quoted that from Deadpool and I'm sitting right here." He pointed to himself, I snicked.
"Don't worry, you're like the sexiest guy in my life." I patted his shoulder.
"Geez, thanks?" He said sarcastically.
I leaned in to his face, "You're welcome" I pecked his lips.
His eyes raked down my body since I was in pajama shorts and a gray tank top.
"What time is your Dad coming home?" He snaked his arm around my waist and pulled me to his lap like I weighed nothing.
"Any minute now." I informed him.
"I'll be quick." he trailed his fingers on my bare thigh in a teasing way, leaving goosebumps.
"And I'll probably be a screamer." I grinned and he nodded like he was agreeing with me.
"Should I stop then?" He whispered softly against my lips while his hands found their way underneath my shirt, pinching a light squeeze to my left boob. I released a moan.
"I've barely even touched you." He chuckled. gosh, I guessed he really did have that effect on me. I brought my hands to his gorgeous face and our eyes met.
I had never felt so comfortable while looking into someone else's eyes, he searched my eyes like he just couldn't get enough and I liked that, it made me feel so special.
Instead of kissing him, it felt right to pull him into a hug, I felt like it caught him off guard cause he hesitated before wrapping his arms around my waist. He smelled like fresh lavender on a rainy day and I felt so comfortable being in his arms, like if it was possible I would've stayed there forever.
"God, I love you." I whispered.
His whole body tensed, scratch that, his whole body FUCKING froze.
At first, I was gonna pull away and ask why he awkwardly tensed but then I realized what I had said so I stayed put until he started pulling away and I shut my eyes and cursed my life.
I love you was one of the many words I couldn't take back even if I wanted to.
I looked at him and couldn't read his expression because it was blank, he slid me off him and fixed his shirt and then he was quiet, didn't even glance at me.
"Did I freak you out?" I asked in a weak whisper, he didn't answer, he just stared at the floor, looking distant.
"Emily, I'm home!" Screamed my Dad from somewhere around the house but I didn't respond, I was still waiting for him to say something.
"I should go." He got up and avoided eye contact.
"You're just gonna leave?" I asked in disbelief.
"Yeah, uhm, I'll see you at school. yeah?" He asked but didn't wait around for my response, he was gone.
"Did I just scare him off?" I asked myself.

Small Town Love
For Daphne Emerson, New York City was her home. The city that never slept, the high skyscrapers, the Metropolitan Museum of Art if she actually had enough money for once to visit it, the tiny refrigerator of an apartment that she shared with her mother. When her mother dies, things change. NYC is left behind and Daphne goes to live with her aunt and uncle in the tiny, coastal town of Fairbury, Maine. Fairbury maybe was smaller than NYC had been, but that didn't mean that it was boring. It was filled to the brim with the typical small town gossip, snippy classmates and, of course, werewolves. Wait, what?!*****Luke Schuyler always knew what was expected of him. He had been raised as the future Alpha of the Schuyler pack, he wrote straight A's in school and was the quarterback of the football team. He had grown up in the sleepy town of Fairbury and so when a new girl begins at school, that also happened to be the cousin of his best friend, he doesn't think much about it. That was the first strike. The second strike came when he saw her the first time. Because Daphne Emerson was his mate.
