Adrian slept like a baby with a stomache the entire night while I didn't sleep at all, I could not stop coming up with different scenarios in my head, I really wanted to know what happened to him but my guesses weren't good enough, only he knew what happened to him and there was nothing I could do to make him tell me.

The following morning, I decided to make breakfast for us while he took a shower upstairs, I made waffles for the first time in my seventeen years of existence because a boy I seemed to have developed feelings for said waffles were his reason to live. So there I was, with a tray in my hands, standing in front of my bedroom door and hesitating to knock.

I took a deep breath before I finally knocked on the door.

"Come in?" He said it more like a question, I held the tray in one hand and used the other one to open the door which revealed a shirtless Adrian who was drying his hair with my white towel. He was wearing the sweatpants he once gave me when I slept over at his place.

My eyes darted to his glorious bare chest which had my fucking name on it, if he was really my boyfriend, I would have been doing more than just stare.

His stitched up wound looked a little sore, which knotted my stomach.

"Dude, did you make homemade waffles in less than two minutes?" He laughed as he jumped on my bed and winced in pain and held his stomach. Closing the door behind me I rolled my eyes at him.

And I really needed him to stop calling me dude.

I strolled towards him and sat the tray beside him, "have a bite." I plopped on my bed. He stared at me then down at the food.

He sat up straight and grabbed a fork, taking a bite of the waffle, He chewed slowly while looking at the ceiling.

His skin looked pale, he had bags under his eyes and his lips were so dry, I could tell that he was not okay but he was trying to act like he was.

"Well..?" I asked, waiting for his opinion on my inexperienced cooking.

He looked at me, "It's... okay I gues- oh God." He said before taking something out of his mouth. "Dude, did you add eggshells to the recipe?" He held the eggshell in his hand.

Damnit.

"Oh well, atleast I tried." I shrugged it off.

"Yeah, you did." He raised his hand in the air for a high five.

"Fuck off." I playfully hit him with a pillow, he laughed. His laughing made me smile, it just sounded so nice in my ears.

Ugh, falling for someone you don't wanna fall for is never nice, Well to me, falling for just about anyone was never nice. And I felt like I fell for Adrian because he became a lot more nicer to me.

"Hey can I ask you something?" I bit on the inside of my thumb.

"Shoot." He took another bite and gave me his full attention.

"What made you change so much?" I decided not to look at him as I asked, I took a bite of my waffles and almost spat the food out immediately.

It tasted so bad.

I felt his eyes on me, "What do you mean?"

"I mean you were so sarcastic and mean towards me before but now you're eating my shitty food and laughing more." I pointed out, looking down at the tray.

"Emily Bennett." He called my full name.

"Adrian Mackey." I responded.

He lifted my chin to make me look at him, I hitched my breath and froze at his touch.

"I think I'm starting to like you as a person, does that answer your question?" He responded honestly and I fought back the urge to smile.

"Too bad we broke up." I looked down at my finger nails.

"Wait, we did?" He gasped dramatically.

"Quit the bullshit." I shot him a warning glare.

He sighed defeatedly as he ran a hand through his damp hair which looked darker than usual, "Okay, I admit that I was a little bit out of line that day because of the amazing sex I had and I shouldn't have talked about your feelings for Charlie and-"

"Get to the point." I cut him off, he smiled at me.

"My point is that we have unfinished business which we have to finish together so.. take me back?" He was almost unsure of himself.

I scoffed, "Just like that?"

"Well yeah, pretty much." He nodded.

"I don't accept your apology." I stood up, ready to leave but he grasped my hand.

"Why?" He asked, I heaved a sigh and looked down at him.

"Because you don't deserve it." I faked a grin and shrugged.

"Okay." He moved to the floor and got on one knee.

Oh my God.

"Emily Bennett, love of my life, girl in my dreams, Ying to my Yang, my one and only-"

"Okay stop, Jeez you're making me cringe so bad." I cut him off. awful fake apology.

He got up and towered over me, yet again I found myself staring at his tattoo, "like what you see?" He asked with a mischievous smirk when he caught me staring.

How far would it go if I played this game with him?

I met his gaze, "Yes, actually I do." I responded flirtatiously.

He raised his brows kinda like he was shocked then he scratched the back of his head and rolled his eyes more to his thoughts.

"Quit messing with me, just tell me if you still want to fake date me or not." His tone turned serious.

As much as I wanted to say no, I just couldn't, telling Adrian that we couldn't fake date anymore could have brought us apart, he could have become a stranger for the rest of senior year and I didn't want that to happen, I realized that I really needed him in my life so at that point, I knew it wasn't about Charlie anymore. It was about Adrian and the exploration of the feelings that I suddenly developed for him.

Fuck me.

"Yeah, sure, I'll take you back." I sighed softly, smirking a little.

"I don't know why you're smirking like that but it's really creepy." He sat back down and continued eating my shitty food.

"Shut up, oh and are you going on the senio-"

"Nope." He answered before I could even finish my sentence.

"Let me guess, it's too lame for you?" I spoke in a lazy tone as I crossed my arms over my chest.

"Something like that." He nodded, looking up at me.

"Dude-"

"You have got to stop calling me dude." He cut me off.

I smiled, "You first."

He nodded in agreement, "You were saying?" He gestured for me to continue talking.

What was I saying?

I cleared my throat.

"If those idiots were telling the truth then we might be going to New York City." I explained with my hands.

"Stop underestimating those idiots, Emily, you shitheads are going to New York for real. I saw the whole schedule in Montgomery's office." He said.

"For real?" I asked.

"Yeah." He got up and started walking around my room.

"Fuck yes." I exclaimed.

"Yeah, own that shit." He said while he reached my shelf and picked a book.

Damnit, I really didn't like people touching my stuff.

"But why aren't you going?" I tried to distract him.

"Aren't you going to school?" He opened my book and flipped the pages, I got up and hurried to snatch the book from him. "It ends with us? What ends?" He asked about the book's name while he held it in his other hand, away from me. I ignored his question.

"It's a school trip... To New York, Adrian, c'mon." I pointed out.

"I know." He said calmly, opening the book again and roaming through.

Seriously calm, he acted like it was nothing, I almost felt like I was overreacting about the whole thing.

He sure was a different breed and it sucked that I couldn't figure him out.
