《The Ecstasy Of Faking It》Chapter 12: Fake couple's quarrel.

Jared picked us up and the ride to Emily's house was filled with nothing but silence. The plan was to drop Emily off first then go and get my car from Jared's house. Jared was curious as to how Emily and I ended up all the way in town, I didn't feel like answering any stupid questions and Emily didn't feel like 'talking about it' so we left him in suspense and I was glad he didn't push it.

I guessed that's what brought about the silence with Emily sitting in the back texting on her phone, Jared keeping his eyes on the road and me enjoying the nice view of the small town as I looked out the car window, letting fresh air blow on my face.

Sundays were pretty shit to me cause I didn't have a lot to do on Sundays, I usually stayed home and tried to keep up with my Mom and her psychotic boyfriend Randall. It's not like I didn't want my Mom to move on from my Dad's death, she had every right to find happiness again, unlike myself.

It's just that I didn't expect her to move on in less than a fucking year. I was aware of the fact that she and my Dad were fighting and were seconds away from getting a divorce but he didn't deserve to be replaced like that and I seemed to develop some kind of strong hatred towards her, I wanted to get rid of the hate and feel that love again but I felt like lashing out every time I set my eyes on her. And it got worse when she told Randall to move in with us.

So pathetic.

As I was being lost away in my daydream, I felt Jared's car stop. Jumping back to reality, I looked around the surrounding, We were parked on Emily's street, near her house.

I was expecting her to get out of the car so we could go but I didn't hear her open the car door, Jared and I exchanged a questionable glance.

He shrugged like saying I don't know. So I turned to look at her still sitting there with her arms crossed over her chest.

The tattoo on her chest kinda looked sexy.

Kinda.

"This is the part where you get out of the car." I said in bitter sweet tone.

"I want to come with you guys." She sounded determined.

"Emily, you could have said that before I freaking drove all the way down here." Said Jared.

"I didn't know you were going to bring me here." She shrugged dismissingly.

"Dude, you fucking live here, where else would you want to be dropped?" I pointed out.

"I know I live here dude, thanks for reminding me." she put emphasis on dude. I rolled my eyes at her.

"We're just going to drive back to my place, Adrian is gonna pick up his car and then he's going home. Nothing fun is gonna happen we promise." Jared assured her. I furrowed my brows at him.

"I don't think that's why she wants to come with us, man." I shook my head.

"No?" He asked.

"No." I stated.

"No?" He turned to look at Emily, she nodded no.

"So what is it then?" He questioned curiously.

"Yeah Emmie, what the hell is it?" I added.

"Don't call me that and I just.... want to make sure that you... don't fuck us up." she stuttered.

"Fuck us up how?" I questioned.

She released a soft sigh as she shut her eyes briefly, she opened her eyes and moved to lean closer to my face between the two seats. From the corner of my eye, I saw Jared weirdly widen his eyes at our close faces.

"I saw how you were flirting with Jared's hot sister last night." She whispered, keeping eye contact.

She kinda looked more prettier up close.

Jared rolled his eyes, I groaned irritatedly and looked away from her.

"Seriously Emily? I actually thought you were going to say something sensible." I flew my hands in the air.

I felt her hand on my jaw, forcibly turning me to face her again. I rolled my eyes again at her dramatic stance.

"This is sensible you dickhead, if you end up being with her then-"

"Then what? I won't be able to fake date you the right way or some shit like that?" I completed her sentence, she retrieved her hand and leaned back on the seat.

"No, everything will be ruined, people from our school are going to find out and if they do find out then Charlie finds out and if Charlie-"

"God forbid if lover boy Charlie finds out," I remarked in a lazy sarcastic tone. "Don't worry peaches, I'm not gonna fuck anything up."

It wasn't like I was promising her but because I couldn't have a girlfriend at all, by any means. I had my reasons.

She didn't respond, and I just wanted the shit for a day to be done with.

"Okay bye." I waved at her, hoping she would get out of the car.

Her jaw twitched and she raised her middle finger infront of my face, I faked a grin in response and she got out the car and shut the door with a bang before storming to her house like a child in my shoes.

"Was that a fake couple's quarrel?" Jared chuckled. "It was like she was jealous and pissed at you."

"Can we go now? I'm hungry and I really miss my car." I dodged his question.

She wasn't jealous, she was telling me not to fuck someone and she was pissed because she's a control freak but she couldn't freaking control me.

He started the car and I looked back out the window.

I really needed the silence but of course, Jared couldn't hand me that pleasure. "Did something happen between you and Emily? Is that why both of you didn't want to talk about it?"

"Nothing happened." I didn't turn to look at him.

"Are you sure? Cause you two were pretty high last night." He said.

I glanced at him, "I wonder who's fault that was."

"Sorry bro."

"I hate that I can't remember anything though." I uttered.

"Maybe something did-"

I cut him off with a warning glare, he cleared his throat and stopped talking which was relaxing.

I had no idea if anything did really happen between Emily and I, all I knew was that we were handcuffed to each other and we had tattoos of each other's names on our chests. It all felt like a nightmare but looking down at my bruised wrist and the ink on my chest, I knew it was no fucking nightmare. It was reality and it was punching me in the face.

I shoved the thoughts at the back of my head since I couldn't remember anyways.

When we arrived at Jared's house, we both got out of his car and I spotted my car right where I had left it.

I sighed a sigh of relief.

"I feel like you care about this car more than you care about me or anyone else." Said Jared.

"I can't believe you even questioned that fact." I said. He frowned dramatically. I patted his back.

I spotted Jen in silky pink pajamas coming out of their mansion, she was on the phone and she looked fantastic even though it was so early in the morning.

"Now I see why Emily wanted to come with us." I heard Jared mumble while I was checking out his sister.

"You and I both know why she wanted to come." I was still staring at Jen as I leaned against my car.

"Whatever Man, see you tomorrow." we bumped fists and he walked towards the house entrance.

Jen and I made eye contact, I waved, a shy innocent smile crept on her face as she hung up on the person she was talking to and started walking towards me.

"Hey you." I greeted.

"Hey, Adrian." She pulled me into a warm hug. She smelled so good, and I questioned if I 'reeked' like that lady from the restaurant had said.

"Cool party last night." I lied, I had no idea how it went.

"Thanks, but you and your girlfriend left pretty early." She twirled her fingers around her hair.

"She's not my girlfriend, she's just-"

"Your fake girlfriend?" She asked, I narrowed my eyes at her suspiciously.

"How did you know that?"

"Jared told me after I got him drunk enough to spill the beans." Her hazel eyes went round.

Jared talked too much when he was drunk.

"Okay, yeah she's my.... fake girlfriend." The words sounded weird coming from my mouth.

"I won't ask, I'm sure you have your reasons." She sounded understanding.

"I do." I muttered.

She smiled at me.

Damn girl had dimples digging into her cheeks every time she smiled. Feeling like kissing her was the urge I pushed back each time because I knew I just couldn't and her giving me those fuck-me-eyes was a temptation I had to ignore.

"See you later, Adrian." She spoke softly before planting a kiss on the side of my lip.

"Okay..." I whispered, feeling a little surprised. She winked and I watched as she walked back to the house, not that I could help it but my eyes dropped to her ass and damn, She had a nice ass.

My phone vibrated in my pocket, I pulled it out and found a message from an unknown number.

At that point, I knew it was from Charlie but I had no idea what he was talking about and I wasn't gonna reply but right when I was gonna lock my phone and shove it back in my pocket, he sent a picture.

It was a picture of Emily and I from our previous night. I widened my eyes at the screen and zoomed in on the picture.

"Holy shit"
