《The Ecstasy Of Faking It》Chapter 11: About last night.

My head was pounding, my body was numb and my eyelids were too heavy to lift.

I groaned as I lifted my right hand over to my head, I moved my body but another person's body was making it impossible for me to make a new position. I snapped my eyes open and saw Adrian soundly sleeping next to me. I tried to sit up but my left hand was trapped. Trapped with Adrian's hand, we were handcuffed to each other.

I looked down at my body and released a sigh of relief, seeing that I still had my dress on. My eyes roamed around the room we were sleeping in, it wasn't my bedroom and neither was it Adrian's. The place looked too cheap and messy to be a hotel or a motel. It looked like one of those hookup places in those fucked up human trafficking movies.

I got scared thinking about why we were handcuffed to each other in a creepy looking room.

I glanced at Adrian, he was deep in sleep_snoring, his dark hair was messy on his face, his shirt was halfway unbuttoned, and he still had his shoes on.

I tapped his arm but he didn't budge.

"Adrian." I whispered, just in case someone was listening.

I slapped him in the face when I called him several times without an answer.

He held his cheek and flattered his eyes open.

"Did you just slap me?" His voice sounded husky.

"Sorry, it was the only way I could think of waking you up." I did sound apologetic. "Do you remember anything from last night?" I asked.

"What about last night?" He rubbed his eyes.

"What happened? How the hell did we get to this creepy room?" I pointed out.

That's when realisation hit him, his eyes went wide and he got up to survey the environment around us, he lifted his hand which was handcuffed to mine.

"The fuck?" He scowled at the handcuffs.

"Exactly."

He got out of bed and dragged me with him to the window since we were handcuffed to each other and everything. He slid the curtains aside and opened the window. We both peeked our heads outside and saw that we were in some kind of building in town.

"Do you know where we are?" He asked me.

"Obviously we are in-"

I paused as I suddenly felt nauseous. I turned and hurried to the bathroom, dragging Adrian with me in the process. I knelt down infront of the disgusting and stained toilet pot while I tried to vomit but nothing came out.

"Are you puking....air?" He stifled a laugh.

I looked up to glare at him but then I ended up seeing something else. I slowly stood up and opened his shirt for a clear view.

My jaw dropped on the floor.

"What?" He looked down at his own chest. "What the hell?" he asked, like he didn't know.

"I think that's a tattoo of my name on your chest." I explained what my eyes were seeing while trying my best not to laugh.

Wait.

I flipped my hair behind my shoulder and looked down at my own chest.

Sweet baby Jesus.

"My Dad is gonna kill me." I said as I saw the letters AD inked on my skin. It was incomplete so I guessed I chickened out.

What the hell was in those drinks?

"This is all your fault, I told you I didn't drink alcohol but you just had to push it, didn't you?" He accused.

"I didn't hold your hand or force you to do shit, you took the drink on your own and-"

"Stop talking." He raised a silencing finger, I narrowed my eyes at the finger. "It wouldn't hurt for you to actually apologize for causing dumb shit like this." He referred to the tattoo.

He was blaming all of it on me and that made me mad, I wished I could walk away from him but those handcuffs wouldn't let me so I decided not to respond to him.

He marched us back to the bedroom, he picked up his phone from the floor and I picked up my purse from the bed. I couldn't find my shoes anywhere so I ended up leaving the room barefoot. We were going through a long hallway which consisted of several doors.

"I think it's an apartment building." Said Adrian.

Or, he wanted it to be an apartment building.

We took an elevator down and saw a woman probably in her forties at the reception area. I decided to talk to her even though Adrian was against it.

"They're finally awake." She beamed as soon as she saw us approaching her.

I looked behind me, just in case she wasn't talking to us but she certainly was.

"You know who we are?" I asked, leaning on her desk.

She nodded mutely while chewing her gum.

"You guys are the best customers I've had since I got this shitty job, though I don't believe that you're both in your twenties." She pointed at both of us suspiciously.

"That's because we're not." Adrian responded in a flat tone as he tucked his free hand in his pocket, I glared at him.

The woman's face changed from friendly to alarmed, "I knew it, I knew it, I knew it. You lying little shits." She got mad real quick. "Are you FBI?" She asked curiously, I furrowed my brows at her. "Junior FBI?" She added, I shook my head.

"We're sorry we lied to you." I apologized sincerely.

"I'm not." Adrian muttered underneath his tone. I gave him the shut the fuck up look. "What?" He shrugged, "why would I be sorry for something that I don't even remember?"

"Were you kids on drugs or something?" She asked us.

"Don't stick your nose where it doesn't belong lady." His tone sounded rude.

Why was he so rude? Why couldn't he read the room just this once?

"Then I guess it's time for both of you to leave." She pointed to the exit.

"Gladly." Adrian started walking, I stumbled closely behind him.

"No wait, we have to ask her what she knows." I whined to Adrian.

"And then what? You'll go back in time and not come here?" He pushed the exit doors open and we walked out.

"No, we'll have a clue on what happened last night and-"

"And what? Emily, and what?" He sounded irritated.

I felt suffocated.

"Such an asshole." I mumbled.

"Thank you for reminding me, can we go now?" He asked, like he wanted my opinion.

"Do you remember?" I asked curiously.

"Remember what?" He asked.

"What happened last night, Was it bad?"

He sighed as he looked elsewhere.

"Did we hook up or make out or get arrested?" I raised our handcuffed hands to prove my point.

"No, I don't remember anything, I don't even remember where I left my fucking car so please just stop." He continued walking.

We walked in silence on the sidewalk, of course people turned to look at us due to the fact that we were handcuffed to each other and I was barefoot. I tried my best to hide in the nest I used to call hair but I felt like it wasn't so helpful.

I was shaking because I was dehydrated, my heart was beating so fast I literally thought it was going to burst out of my chest and the handcuffs felt like they were piercing through my skin, not to mention walking barefoot in heat of the sun.

We came across a restaurant and I ceased my steps.

"What now?" Adrian growled at me.

"I'm hungry." I rubbed my stomach.

He smirked at me amusingly, "You really think those people are going to let us eat here?" He pointed at the restaurant.

I glanced at the place once more, it looked pretty fancy but not fancy enough to kick us out.

"We'll never know if we don't go inside." I said. He looked forward like he was thinking about it then he looked at me again.

"Okay, after you." He gestured.

I walked towards the entrance but as soon as I pushed the doors open, a pretty blonde lady rushed towards us.

"Excuse me, can I help you?" She forced a smile, anxiously.

"Yeah, you can show us a table." I said, Adrian scratched the back of his neck as many people in the restaurant started staring at us.

"Funny, uhm can you please leave?" She tried to sound nice. I furrowed my eyebrows at that.

"Excuse you?"

"Please leave." She repeated herself.

"Look, Lucy." I read her name tag. "We had a shitty night and we have the money to pay for the food so what's the problem?"

"The problem is that you're handcuffed to each other and you reek." She still kept her smile while she spoke. I gasped at her words.

"And you show people where to sit for a living, I really wonder which case is worse?" I said harshly.

"Your case is worse, I love my job, I love showing people where to sit for a living." She protested.

I scoffed, "Do you even hear yourself?"

"Okay that's enough." Adrian dragged me out of the restaurant. "Sorry for the bother." He said to the mean lady before literally dragging me outside. "That was rude." He told me.

"She said we reeked." I sniffed myself.

"She was just jealous of you, you always smell nice and she has that shitty Job so don't take it personal." He said, taking off his shoes and lending them to me, I got confused for a second.

"You want me to put on your oversized shoes?" I looked down at them.

"Which ones better? Walking barefoot or walking in oversized shoes?"

I sighed softly as I slipped into his shoes which were pretty big.

I wondered how I lost my own shoes.

After walking for a few more minutes, we found a bench and sat on it, Adrian called Jared to come pick us up, he confirmed that Adrian's car was at his house which was weird thinking about how we got so far from the house without a vehicle.

"I can't believe this is happening." I groaned frustratedly running a hand through my hair.

"I can't believe I got a tattoo, of your name." I heard him mutter. I turned to look at him and he looked at me.

"I wonder why." I said teasingly smiling at him. He just stared into my eyes and didn't respond. "What?" I asked when the staring got weird.

He narrowed his eyes and leaned a little while he stared into my eyes like he was searching for something, "Did you know someone could literally get lost in your eyes?" He asked, my heart jerked at that question.

I didn't expect him to say something so... Cliché and cringe worthy.

"Duuude, are you okay." I dramatically placed my palm on his forehead to check his temperature. He shoved my hand away and looked elsewhere, I laughed.

"I was just giving you a compliment but I take it back, your eyes suck." He said, I giggled.

"Okay but do you also take back lending me your shoes and telling me I always smell nice?" I poked his shoulder, he smiled and his smile was the best thing that had happened that day.

"Shut up, I was trying to be nice." He didn't meet my eyes.

"Which is new." I pointed out.

"Enjoy it while it lasts." He glanced at me, his light green eyes were glowing.

"I think I will." I grinned, he looked away from me. Almost like he couldn't make eye contact with me for too long.

I opened my purse to grab my phone and check if my aunt or Dad had called me, I spotted something out of place in my purse.

A key.

I reached for it and held it in my hand. Adrian snatched it from my hold and examined it.

"You had the fucking key this entire time?" He asked in disbelief.

"I found it in my purse." I defended, he punched the key into the handcuff key hole and seconds later, my hand was free. I let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding as I rubbed my wrist.

Adrian tossed the handcuffs into my purse, I had a lot of questions about those handcuffs but the fact that I had a key was a relief, maybe we didn't get arrested after all.
