《The Ecstasy Of Faking It》Chapter 4: invitation.

The week went down to thursday and I still felt like shit, I even acted like a shitty person. I dozed off in classes, had my lunch behind the cafeteria block, got detention for going late to class, started drinking booze at night in my room and I literally stopped studying.

My dad called it depression.

Adrian and I cleaned all around school everyday and no, he didn't talk to me at all but I did talk to him, even though it was like talking to a mute person who believed you were like a noisy voice in their head.

So it was thursday and I was lined up, ready to buy lunch and eat it behind the cafeteria.

I only felt like eating fries that day so I got fries with extra ketchup.

My eyes were roaming around the cafeteria and violá, I spotted Adrian sitting at the far end of the cafeteria and like always, He was sitting alone, he did have friends but I think even they were afraid of him sometimes.

If I planned on making him my friend, I might have started there.

With that, I began strolling to his table, there were whispers and glances walking with me but I tried my best to ignore them.

"Hey you." I sat across from him.

He looked up at me with wide eyes, "What are you doing?" He questioned, I noticed a purple bruise on his neck.

"Eating lunch." I said in an obvious tone.

"No, I mean what are you doing sitting here." He kept his eyes on me.

"Because I can, these tables don't have names written on them so I can sit where ever I want to." I grinned at him.

"Please leave?" He asked kind of nicely.

"No." I picked a fry from my plate and took a bite.

So crunchy.

"Okay then I'll leave." He announced, standing up and reaching to grab his backpack from the table but I dragged it before he could touch it.

A couple of heads turned to look at us weirdly.

"I'll go but first I have a question." I held his bag close to my chest. He sighed restlessly as he sat back down and leaned on the table.

"What's up with the uh.. bruise on your neck?" I pointed to my own neck while I asked.

"It's a hickey." He lied, I laughed at that lie.

"Dude, hickey's are supposed to look sexy not painful." I chuckled, he rolled his eyes.

"Take it or leave it." He shrugged his shoulders. "Can I have my bag back now please?" He let his hand out.

But there was one last thing I needed to get off my chest.

"Adrian?" My face and tone turned serious.

"What?" He sounded annoyed.

"I'm really sorry." I muttered softly, his eyes met mine briefly.

"For what?" He asked.

"Judging you, I judged you about the whole Charlie thing and about all the other shit that you do. I'm really sorry." I said sincerely.

"Dude." He was rolling his eyes again.

"Just hear me out." I clasped his hand on the table, he dropped his gaze onto our hands, I quickly retrieved my hand. "I'm honestly sorry, I was such a fool in love but not anymore, now I'm team Adrian." I said cheerfully.

He didn't say anything.

"Say something." I pushed him.

"What do you want me to say?" He looked at me with those frosty eyes as a strand of his dark hair flopped on his face.

"Say you forgive me or something."

"This is ridiculous." He said more to himself, "Okay, I forgive you." He said it in a lazy tone.

"No dude, say it like you mean it." I pushed again.

He scoffed, "You love yourself that much, huh?"

"Hey, guys." Charlie interrupted, sitting down next to me.

"Go away Charles." I hissed, trying my best not to look at him.

"Look at you, acting like an ex already." He seemed proud of me as he patted my shoulder. I slapped his hand away.

Well he moved on in less than a week so why the hell not?

"Is he bothering you?" He whispered in my ear while he looked at Adrian.

I snapped my head to look at him at the same time as he turned to look at me, our faces were only an inch apart, his hazel eyes gazing into mine and man did I want to kiss him.

But I knew I couldn't, not even if he wanted to.

I really had to let him go.

"Are you guys gonna make out or something?" Adrian dragged us back to reality.

I faked a coughed while Charlie scratched the back of his head.

"I have a girlfriend." Charlie raised his hand in the air, Adrian drew his brows together at him. I just shook my head and rolled my eyes while I picked up Adrian's smoothie and had a sip.

"Okay, you can go now." I shooed him.

"You can come with me." He suggested.

"Come with you where?" I scowled.

"To my table." He tilted his head towards the table where everyone that did not like me was sitting.

"That's not funny." I shook my head at him.

"Look cupcake, just because we broke up doesn't mean we can't hang out and I just can't let you hang out with losers like him." He pointed at Adrian with his finger without even looking at him.

"We're not hanging out, she's just sitting across from me." Adrian objected.

"Same thing, can we go?" He asked me, letting his hand out for me to take.

At first, I thought he was doing all of it just to piss off Adrian but then I saw it.

Jealousy.

I did date him for a year so I'd know. It was written all over his gorgeous face. He was fucking jealous.

If I were a cartoon character, there would have been a light bulb on top of my head due to the fact that I came up with the most craziest idea of getting back at Charlie for dumping my ass.

"Why are you smiling?" He asked.

I dropped my smile and cleared my throat.

"No, I'll stay here, thanks for the offer though." I responded to his previous statement.

"Emmie-"

"EMILY, E.M.I.L.Y, Emily not Emmie." I corrected him irritatedly, Adrian chuckled softly.

Damn, he sounded so good.

Charlie looked pissed off, "Whatever." He stood up, "You're still coming to my party tomorrow night, right?" He looked down at me.

I had no idea what came over him, unlike the past few days, he was actually being really nice to me.

"Uhm, I don't know, maybe I will maybe I won't." I tried to play hard to get.

Of course I was going to his party, who the hell wasn't?

"I will be expecting you, you too asshole." He pointed at Adrian.

He was giving Adrian an invitation as well? Maybe there was hope after all.

It made my heart flatter.

"He definitely didn't act like someone who was over his ex." Adrian commented.

"Right?" I watched Charlie walk back to his table with a smile on my face.

"We all know you'll get back together before that party even ends." He said to me.

"I don't know, wanna go with me?" I turned to look at him.

"Na-uh, We're not buddies and I don't do stupid high school parties." He stood, walking around the table to yank his backpack from my hold and walked away.

I put his words at the far back of my head, I was too busy thinking about Charlie and why he broke up with me regardless of the way he still felt about me.

Nevertheless, I still loved him and I was about to prove he loved me back but with Adrian's help.

Now all I had to do was get Adrian to play along but at the same time, my plan seemed impossible.

Until it wasn't.
