《FAMILY》03| You Don't Fuck With A Cassano
Advertisement
Cecelia Legrand was fucking amazing. I met her during lunch. Eunha and I came from AP math and walked to the line to get some lunch. The line was terribly long and I felt like it would take a while to get some food. Next time, I'll just bring food from home. I'm a slow eater and lunch breaks are always painfully short.
The line was moving slowly and it only got worse when the Cassano's entered the cafeteria. They skipped the line and no one spoke up, except for Cecelia. She was somewhere near the front of the line and once she noticed the Cassano's skipping, she popped off on them.
"Is the concept of a fucking line a mystery to you idiots?! Get back in line!"
I've never heard a cafeteria this silent. Eunha winced next to me as if she knew what would happen. One of the twins, the one with his leather jacket, stepped towards Cecelia and glared at her. Damn, who pissed in his cereal this morning? Why was he always so gloomy and serious?
"Repeat yourself." He snarled at her.
"Get. Back. In. Line." She spoke clearly and slowly.
She must have had a lot of confidence because the boy was intimidating. A lot of boys think that they're cool and bad, but they're actually babies. This one looked older than Cecelia and fucking mental.
I gasped when he grabbed her by the collar. That went too far! What the hell was his problem? I wanted to go over to help but Eunha yanked me back and clung onto my arm.
"Oh, you like hitting younger girls?" Cecelia grinned.
"Shut the fuck up, Legrand!" The boy snapped.
Luckily, a teacher hurried over and came between them. She separated them and ordered the rest of us to continue whatever we were doing. A while later, we finally got our food and walked to a table. I spotted August with his arm around an upset Cecelia. There was also another boy with them that I haven't met before. And, damn, he was so so handsome. I literally had to stand still for a while to take him in.
He was about our age and wore the same uniform, but he looked absolutely perfect. He had big almond eyes and a straight nose. His dark hair was parted in the middle, which not a lot of boys can pull off.
He can, he definitely can.
I couldn't really tell if he was tall because he was sitting down but he gave me tall boy vibes. What I could tell was that he was muscular. His blazer hugged his biceps nicely and I couldn't stop staring.
"Besties, this is Charlotte!" Eunha introduced me.
I stopped staring at Mr Handsome and turned to smile at the group. August winked at me and I sat down with Eunha. Cecelia looked at me with a stern glare, so I glared right back at her. She was probably just testing me.
"What comes first: cereal or milk?"
The best question to determine if someone was not a psychopath.
"Cereal." I replied.
"Welcome to the group, babes!" she winked.
I laughed and shook her outstretched hand.
"What if she replied with milk?" Mr Handsome asked her.
She sighed deeply and placed her hands together as if she was talking to a child.
"Then I would've successfully spotted a psychopath. Maybe provoke her enough to end up on Unsolved Mysteries?"
He shook his head with a soft smile. Could he just smile forever? He truly had the most amazing dimples!

Why was I simping so hard over a man?
"My name is Daniel. It's nice to meet you, Charlotte."
He held out his large hand for me to shake. I did it with red cheeks. Eunha next to me grinned and I put my focus back on my plate.
"I hear an accent. You moved here from the United Kingdom?" Cecelia asked me.
"Yes, from London." I nodded.
August and Cecelia fired more questions at me. I didn't mind answering them as I grew more comfortable with this group. I had feared that I would miss Morgan and Tracy so much that I'd beg my mom to move back home. Though I missed them terribly, I felt like these people would help make things more bearable.
///////////////////////
One month later:
We were failing so badly. The group was running far ahead of us as we trailed behind. I was trying to catch my breath while trying to keep up. August had long given up and was hanging onto Daniel, who was with us for moral support. Eunha hung onto my arm, a habit she picked up since the first day we met. Cecelia was cursing out the person who thought it was a good idea to make high school students run laps.
I was not athletic nor did I have any aspiration to be athletic. People who enjoy sports scare the shit out of me.
"Only hot people suck at running!" I concluded as I stopped running.
I tasted a metallic taste in my mouth and my side was hurting like a bitch. I'd rather fail PE than faint. My mom didn't care much about school, anyways.
"Dan, my love, you're an exception of course!" I added trying to catch my breath.
He sent me a wink that went straight to my stomach. I swear to god I felt actual butterflies every time that handsome guy only looked at me. Cecelia laughed loudly and bumped into me with a grin. Eunha laid her head on my shoulder as we all continued to walk.
I could see that the other students had already finished, so we calmly walked to them. Coach Mark was shaking his head at us in disappointment but just sent us to the locker room to change. I half carried Eunha inside and opened my locker to hand her some water. I sometimes feel like I'm her mom, but that's alright. She's a little cutie and bakes me chocolate chip cookies.
"Pathetic as usual, Cecelia."
Amelia Cassano was a pain in everybody's ass. She was 'little miss popular' and ranked first in our year. I've never had an interaction with her but I've witnessed how she treated others. She's horrible!
"Didn't ask for your opinion, Barbie!" Cecelia sang annoyed.
The Barbie nickname suited Amelia. She had long blond hair and was clearly very fit. Even in these dumb gym clothes that we were forced to wear by the school, she looked amazing. If you can rock uncomfortable shorts and a weird fitting t-shirt, you could rock everything.
"Of course, you didn't. If you would listen to me, you wouldn't be a mess like you always are."
Eunha jumped up to pull Cecelia back. She truly was a pacifist at heart, but I wasn't.
"Turn around and mind your own business."
Her brown eyes focussed on me. It was as if she saw me for the first time. Which was fair, I was still getting used to this school and the students. I've managed to find a steady friend group but I was still trying to get to know my year mates.

"Who are you?"
"Charlotte, but I wouldn't say that it's a pleasure to meet you."
Her ears turned red and she crossed her arms over her chest with an angry scowl.
"Do you know who I am?" She demanded.
I did but sometimes it's fun to provoke people a bit. Especially people who hold their social position dear to their heart.
"No, who are you?"
Cecelia grinned at me while I tried to keep a straight face. Amelia stormed towards me and stopped only a few inches apart from me. Was the concept of personal space unknown to her?
"I'm Amelia Cassano. That should be enough for you to know to not fuck with me." She spoke confidently.
I've been warned about the Cassano's multiple times but I truly hate people like them. Their head was so far up their ass that they were completely out of touch with reality.
"I don't give a flying fuck if you're a Cassano, just piss off!"
I've never seen ears as red as hers. She let out mix of a huff, grunt, and whine before putting her hands on my boobies to push me against the lockers.
What. The. Actual. Fuck.
"That's only the first thing I'll do to you, peasant."
Peasant? She called me a peasant after physically putting her hands on me. On my boobies! They were small but not easy to overlook. I felt harassed.
"That's sexual harassment! I'll sue your dirty ass." I snarled at her.
I don't believe in physical violence. I'd rather use my words because those insults hurt the most. But right now I wanted to punch her stupid face.
"I'd like to see you try!" She laughed.
Some other girls who hung out with her laughed as well.
"Your dumb brothers are not as powerful as you think." Cecelia commented with a dangerous glint in her eyes.
Amelia narrowed her eyes before she huffed and walked away. I held my hands up to my boobies, feeling completely disgusted. Eunha softly placed her hand on my shoulder and asked if I was alright.
I wasn't alright. I wanted to scream out of frustration.
How the fuck am I going to get my revenge?
////////////////////////////
The answer came to me unconsciously. I didn't even realise that it was such a big deal but a week later, Amelia stormed over to my table during lunch prepared to start a whole ass war. She was holding a list that she'd ripped off the wall and threw it at me while I was snacking on cake pops.
"You fucking bitch! How dare you? You're not even in the gifted courses!"
I picked up the list to look at it. It was the monthly ranking. Every month, the school gave out a ranking per grade of all the students. I read it and noticed that I ranked first. I also noticed that she ranked second.
Revenge came right to my front door without me actually trying.
"Did you rip this off the wall?" I asked her.
"How?!" She demanded.
There were a lot of things wrong with this girl. August who sat next to me rolled his eyes at her. Cecelia laughed loudly and had to lean onto Daniel to control herself.
"Little Miss perfect ranked second. What are you going to do about it? Cry to your dumb brothers?" She cackled.
I'd expected Amelia to snap something back like usual but she took me by surprise by bursting out in tears. She was full on sobbing. Everybody just stared at her and even her friends didn't know what to do.
To be honest, I kinda felt bad for her.
Kinda is the key word.
Especially for what she did to me afterwards. She sent her brothers to me. It was my first interaction with the Cassano' twins and it was terrifying. They approached me after school while I was taking my books from my locker that I needed at home.
Imagine this. Two six foot three, older, handsome, intimidating boys push a five foot three, younger girl up against the locker by the collar of her shirt. I had a big mouth but there's no way that I would dare to piss them off in this position. I felt actual fear go through my veins.
The twin with his eyebrow piercing, who I learned was named Leonardo, was by far the most intimidating. I smelled a hint of a cigarette smell on him but also a very nice cologne. He brought his face close to mine and I tried to control my trembling lips.
"Bother my baby sister one more time and you'll regret the day you were born."
I understood that a threat coming from this psycho was very serious. So I stayed quiet.
"You better know your place, newbie. If you rank first next month, we'll show you what happens when you fuck with our family."
That was Nicholas. He looked kind of goofy but now he was the complete opposite. They both looked fucking insane.
My hand flew up to Leonardo's because his grip was tightening. Why was he manhandling me like this? He was a senior while I was a sophomore. Also he was ten times more muscular than me. It wasn't a fair fight.
"Mr Cassano, let go of her right this instant!" A loud voice called angrily.
I looked over his broad shoulder and spotted my music teacher, Mrs Hall. She was a middle aged woman with a beautiful Afro and the most amazing clothing style. She made her clothes herself and was just such a kind spirit. I've joined the music club for my extracurricular and she's been so supportive of me.
Leonardo pushed me harshly against the locker one more time before letting go. He walked off with his twin and I sank down to the ground still in utter shock. Mrs Hall came to my side and softly helped me up. A few passing students gave me looks, mostly concerned but some were laughing. It must be entertaining to watch for them.
I don't think bullying is funny at all but you have weird people everywhere.
"Oh, you should have that checked out, doll. It's turning quite red." She pointed at my neck with concern.
It was burning a bit. Fuck, now I have to deal with this.
"Do you think that you can take it from here? Do you want me to go to the hospital with you?" She asked softly.
"No, I'll be fine. I'm heading home." I assured her.
She nodded and softly brushed my hair behind my shoulder with a warm smile.
"Well, be safe! I'll see you tomorrow during practice. Competition is only in a few days." She reminded me.
There was a piano competition in a few days here at school. Mrs Hall encouraged me to join and I'd gladly done it but now I wasn't so certain. Amelia was also competing and I didn't want those twins to come for me again. But I can't tell Mrs Hall that I won't compete anymore. She was so excited.
So I smiled and nodded.
I walked out of the school building. I spotted those assholes immediately. They leaned against their sports car. Amelia was hugging them with a wide smile and I just felt so disgusted. She used brute force to get what she wanted.
I hope karma is a bitch, especially to her.
"What happened to your neck?"
Cecelia. She stood next to a tall, older man that was quite obviously her father. They had their same dark brown hair and eyes. He was dressed in a three-piece suit and looked like a businessman out of Wallstreet. James Legrand was owner of a famous hotel chain and rarely home. Cecelia was almost always home alone since her dad was a single dad. She didn't mind because she loved to invite friends over.
I've been to her place. It's really cool.
"Cassano' twins." I muttered.
When I told her what happened, rage flared up in her brown eyes. She was ready to storm over to them but her dad pulled her back by her backpack.
"Behave, Cecelia."
She sent him a scowl. They were both glaring at each other, which made it quite comical. Mr Legrand turned to me and focused on my neck.
"You need to go the hospital, child. That doesn't look good."
I tried to ignore the fact that he called me a child. I am a child but it's weird to be addressed as that.
"It burns." I confessed.
"Dad, they're insane! You need to do something!" Cecelia insisted.
Her dad sighed and opened the door to his car. It was a very nice Mercedes but I had no idea what kind of model it was.
"Get inside. We're first taking Charlotte to the hospital."
Cecelia wanted to protest some more but then she looked at my neck. She grabbed my hand and pulled me in the car with her. I sat down in the car and put on my seatbelt. Her dad left the parking lot towards the hospital.
Though I hated to admit it, I learned something today.
You just don't fuck with a Cassano.
