《The Babysitter✔️》Chapter||33

After school the next day, I dropped the kids at home. Lily and I decided that we wanted to go shopping for prom dresses, so I picked her up and we went to the mall.

Before we started shopping, we stopped in Starbucks. I got a Latte and Lily got a green tea frappe. We sipped on our drinks as we walked though the mall.

"Lets go to Macy's first," I suggested as we rode an escalator up to the second floor and then went into Macy's.

"What about this one?" I asked, holding up a pink lacy dress with a very low neck line.

"Its cute... but definitely no," she said with a wave of her hand.

"Okay...." I said and held up another one for her to look at. It was a baby blue dress that flared out at the bottom and was covered in a beaded design. She took one look and didn't hesitate, "No."

I chuckled, Lily was so picky about this stuff. To her, everything about prom had to be perfect, especially the dress.

"This is it," She said and held up and light pink, off the shoulders dress. It had lace embroidery around the bust, and a small but noticeable train. She was grinning from ear to ear when she announced "I think I just found my dress."

"It's perfect," I grinned

"Now we have to find you the perfect dress," She said with a wiggle of her eyebrows.

...

I grabbed takeout on my way back home to makeup for going out. "I'm back," I called as I unlocked the front door and walked inside.

"I'm hungry," Was the first thing Hallie said to me. Then she looked at the shopping bag in my hand and squealed, "Is that your prom dress?"

"Yeah," I smiled as I set the Chinese takeout on the table and then proceeded to take the shopping bags up to my room. When I went back down stairs, Jace, Cal, and Hallie had already started eating.

I sighed as I sat down. Jace took the whole container of a chicken and vegetable dish, emptied it all onto his plate, and was scarfing it down.

He took a break when I sat down and looked up, "Did you find a dress?" Jace asked with raised eyebrows.

"Yup," I beamed.

"I can't believe you and Jace are going to prom," Hallie exclaimed "That's soooo romantic."

I giggled a little, "It's just a dance."

"Just a dance?" Jace questioned with a smirk "It's gonna be the best night of your life."

I began to blush as I continued to eat my food.

...

Later that night, I went over to my parent's house to help Tyler make a poster to ask Amy to prom with.

I opened the front door and announced "I'm home."

"Hi sweetie," My mom called from the kitchen.

I walked into Tyler's room, there was a big white poster and a bunch of markers.

"Huh," I stated, which made Tyler look up from his phone.

"What?" He asked with a furrowed brow.

"You really are going all out," I said nodding at the poster.

"Yeah, I want it to be special," He shrugged.

"So what do you want it to say?" I asked as I sat down on the floor next to the poster and grabbed a pencil.

"How bout.... Amy, You're such a catch, can we score a touchdown together at Prom," He states simply and sat down next to me.

"What?" I asked giggling.

"Ya know," Tyler explained bluntly," Cause I'm captain of the football team?"

"Yeah I got that part," I smiled. I decided that I didn't want to hurt his feelings so I complied. "I'll write it in pencil, you trace in marker," I explained.

After about an hour of writing, and coloring, we finally finished. Tyler held it up, obviously proud. "Do you think she'll say yes?" Tyler asked hopefully.

"Definitely. And if she doesn't, then she's not even worth it," I assured.

A few seconds later, someone knocked on the door. My mom walked in immediately after, "How's it going?" She chirped.

"Good, we just finished," Tyler answered as he held up the sign.

"Aww that's adorable," She smiled and then pointed her look at me "Wait, Alexis, do you have a date?"

"Yeah," I answered without thinking...

Shit.

My parents don't know that Jace and I are dating yet so saying that was a mistake.

"Who?!" She asked in shock.

"Yeah, who?!" Tyler asked in fake shock, even though he obviously knew that Jace asked me.

"Uhhh..." I gave him a pointed look, and then continued to say "I'm just going with a close friend."

Tyler let out a snort "A friend."

"Alexis West, is there something you aren't telling us?" My mother pushed.

"No," I avoided eye contact "I'm just going with Jace."

"The Johnson boy?" She asked with a puzzled look.

"Uhh yeah," I smiled.

"And you didn't tell us?" She exclaimed and then turned to Tyler "Did you know about this?"

"No, this is news to me," He said again in fake shock. Lying to our parents was no feat for Tyler, he's had plenty of practice throughout the years when he would sneak out.

"Alexis, I can't believe this," She whined.

"I'm sorry mom, I'll send you a picture of the dress. I didn't think it was that big of a deal," I said nervously.

"I want so many pictures," she requested "Your father and I have a business trip so we won't be here this weekend to see you off to the dance."

I stood up to leave. As I got to the door I was about to pass my mom when she put a hand on my shoulder "Alexis, I shouldn't be worried about you sleeping over in the same house as Johnson boy ... should I?"

"No, not at all," I assured "You know I'm responsible."

"Ok," She said skeptically, and moved her hand off of me so I could proceed.

"Bye mom," I called behind me as I left the house and went back to the Johnson's house so I could finish my homework.
