"He asked me on a.. date."
"What! Are you fucking kidding me!?" I could hear her voice through the phone loud and clear.
"Khyson asked you on a date?" I heard Rylans low mumbled as his body shifted under my arm.
"No, baby, go back to sleep." I ruffled his hair before his eyes fell closed and I continued speaking to Amara.
Once I knew he was asleep I got up, shut the door and stepped into Rylans room.
"I mean, are you ready to move on from William or do you still need time?"
That was the question I was asking myself through the whole ride home yesterday.
"I don't know, Amara. I still.. I feel like.. I don't know. I haven't had the closure I need with him. He just up and left." I rested my cheek on my knee while biting my nail.
"Why don't you call him, get that closure."
"He knows, Amara. He knows about Khyson and Rylan."
"You told him!?"
"No! No! No! He read.. he read my non-diary."
"Why the fuck do you even have a diary, you're not fucking fifteen!?" She retorted, I planted my face on my knee before shaking my head.
"How was I supposed to know he was gonna read it!?"
"What exactly was in there?"
"It was me talking about you know Khyson. How he makes me feel."
"And how do we know he's not going to.. per se.. leak any of that."
"I know William, he's never do something like that."
That was the biggest lie I've ever told. I had no idea what he'd do with that information.
"You mean the same William who read your diary?"
"Maybe you're right, I should call him."

"It doesn't have to be this long Ted talk, just get to the point, be honest and let him know how you feel. And since I'm not sick anymore I can come by and watch Rylan."
"You do realize Rylan is still sick." I sighed.
She shook her head while blowing a breath from her lips.
"Pshhhh! I don't care."
"That's exactly what I said before he vomited on me but I don't really have a choice because I'm his mother." I cocked my head at her before she groaned.
"Like ninety five percent of motherhood is vomit I don't know what you were expecting."
I shook my head as we began to get of topic.
"Anyways, yeah, I'll reach out, thanks."
"No problem."
"Bye."
"Bye."
I hung up before walking back into my room, slipping myself under the covers with Rylan. He hugged my waist as I smiled.
"You feeling any better?"
"Mhm, can I have some more food?"
"You have to ease into the food, I think we should stick to the crackers and soup.. how about that? What some soup?" I pressed my palm on his forehead before he nodded.
I gave him some food yesterday and he threw it right back up. I just, I hate seeing him so miserable.
"Mhm.. are you going back to work tomorrow?" He asked.
"I have to, you know that." I caressed his head lightly while his arms gripped my waist.
"I'm gonna miss you."
"It's just a couple hours."
I manoeuvred myself off the bed and took Rylans hand as we walked into the living room. I helped him lay down and covered the blanket over his body.
Walking into the kitchen to boil the water.

While the water boiled I leaned on the counter and pulled my phone out. Opening the Williams contact.
Our last conversation;
You know I love you
I know
Goodnight, love you
Goodnight, I love you too
I fit my lip between my teeth and stared blankly at our words.
We need to talk, could you maybe come over sometime this week?
I hovered my finger over the blue arrow for what seemed like hours. Before hitting the screen as the message sent.
I went to place my phone down before I saw it, he read the message almost immediately.
I'll come by tomorrow night
I stared down at his words, so short and simple. Was he mad? What tone was the message directed in? Was it supped to be rude?
"Mama?"
"Yeah?" I said, keeping my eyes on the phone.
"The pot."
I glanced up at the stove to see the water bubbling over. I dropped my phone on the counter before grabbing the wooden spoon.
"Dammit." I mumbled.
After I had cleaned up the mess and finished the soup, I brought it to the couch and sat beside him.
"Are you okay, mama?"
"Yeah, why?" I smiled down at him, touching the spoon to my lip before he took a sip.
"Do you need a hug?"
"Do I need a hug?" I restated his question before he nodded.
"Yeah, actually."
I placed the soup on the coffee table before wrapping my arms around his small body. He played with my hair as I smiled towards the wall.
"I love you." He told me.
I could feels my eyes watering before I quickly wiped the undersides of my eyes and sniffed against his shoulder.
"I love you more."
"No!" He laughed.
I grasped his cheeks in my palms, slightly squeezing his cheeks as his mouth released some low giggles.
"You'll never understand how much I love you." I kissed him on his red nose as he smiled.
"You know I don't like seeing you sick." I whispered, running a hand over his head. He frowned while nodding.
"Now come on." I helped him onto my lap, placing soup in front of us. I rested my chin on his shoulder while feeding him the soup.
