《A Love found in Affliction》Chapter Twenty Four

“This way Sir” The air hostess guided Aaron to the first class cabin and escorted him to his seat. Elaine and Sam had flown out in his private jet and he didn’t find a point in calling his pilot back.

Aaron settled down in the window seat. He was just about to close his eyes and rest them for a few minutes when he felt a hand on his shoulder.

“Oh well…look what we have here” Josephine said as she slid into the seat next to him.

“Jesus Christ” Aaron muttered. This was the last thing he needed.

“Travelling to Greece?” Josephine asked as she buckled herself up.

“I guess so considering this a direct flight” Aaron said, his words dripping with sarcasm.

“A coincidence. We will enjoy this flight”

Aaron restrained from rolling his eyes. He was not born yesterday. She was on the seat next to him on purpose. He had realized the game Jacques Laurent was playing by sending his daughter to seduce him.

As soon as the flight was in air, Aaron plugged in his earphones.

The flight landed without a delay and a chauffeured limo was waiting for him as soon as he walked out of the terminal which would escort him to the docks.

“Mr. Clark! Good to see you after so long!” Eros, his manager here in Greece greeted him.

“Hello Eros, how is the family?”

“All are good Sir”

“Are the guests settled in?”

“Yes they are.”

Aaron couldn’t wait to reach the villa. Upon arrival his luggage was taken to the guest house.

The villa was a magnificent structure, subtle yet grand at the same time. It sat overlooking the azure blue water. The guest house, a single story structure with three bedrooms, was on the west grounds, a good distance away from the villa but in a clear view.

Aaron walked into the master bedroom and opened the balcony doors. The balcony faced the villa and he could see Sam and Elaine sitting by the pool. He smiled as he saw Elaine lying on the lounge chair. She looked relaxed.

Aaron showered and ate the snack the maid had delivered. He was about to head out to the beach when there was knock on the front door. He opened the door and saw Sam standing there smiling.

“Thank you Aaron.” She said as she hugged him. Aaron was taken aback by the sudden gesture and awkwardly patted her back.

“She seems so much more relaxed. Though she is still not talking much but there is a subtle change in her demeanor.”

“How was the flight?” Aaron asked as he walked back into the sitting area and motioned Sam to sit.

“It was good. Umm..” Sam looked at Aaron.

“What happened?”

“She is having these nightmares…I often hear her screaming at night even back home. She had one during the flight and the first thing she asked me when she woke up was that if she was in a relationship with you”

“What did you say?” Aaron’s heartbeat increased.

“I told her that you guys were in a relation but I also told her the truth how I was not aware of your relation because of the fight she and I had. However she only said that she lost her memory for a week, how could she possibly be in a relationship…”

“WHAT!?” Aaron shot up from his chair and started pacing. How could she think that? That one week changed his world. His whole universe now revolved around Elaine and she couldn’t believe that they were in a relationship or at least heading that way?

“Look, she didn’t say anything after that and withdrew back in to her shell. I am sorry. I just told you because you needed to know.”

“Did she talk about the nightmares?”

“She didn’t say but we both have a pretty good idea what they are about” Sam said.

“That bastard Costello! I swear to god I am going to have him killed!” Aaron growled.

“I have to go now. She is alone. You take care. See you around.” Sam smiled at him and walked back out.

Sam hoped that Aaron’s plan worked because she couldn’t see him or Elaine in this situation. Elaine needed Aaron as well. His love was the only thing that could heal her now.

Elaine got up from the lounge chair and walked towards the beach. The water seemed so inviting. The sun was setting, giving it an orange hue. It was a beautiful sight. There was a light breeze and it ruffled her summer dress and for the first time since that night Elaine smiled. She closed her eyes and walked to the edge of the water letting the waves tease her feet.

In a distance, Aaron’s heart lifted watching the woman he loved finally finding some peace since that upheaval of her life. He knew he had made the right decision by bringing her here. Now the only thing left was her to accept the fact that he was not going to harm her. However what Sam told her few hours ago was still bothering him.

“She is not in the right place now emotionally. She just needs time” Aaron thought, trying to calm the turmoil of emotions in his heart.

Elaine opened the French doors in her bedroom that lead right onto the beach. The moonlight reflected in the water. It was a beautiful place. Elaine knew this all belonged to Aaron. Sam had told her. Yet still somehow Elaine couldn’t stop the panic that gripped her when he came too close. She trembled when she remembered the feeling of fear that gripped her when he had broken down the door at Sam’s place.

How did her life get so out of control? She felt so empty and hollow. A weird sensation gripped her like any moment something bad was going to happen as if the man was going to come back. It was Franco but she didn’t remember that night and in her nightmares it was always this faceless person who bought along a cold feeling that chilled her to her core. Franco, the man who had cheated on her yet she had still believed he had some honor in him but he had pushed her over the edge. He had ruined her beyond repair. She had just lost Will and then he had pulled the last straw.

The doctors said her brain blocked out a week worth of memories. How did Aaron fit into all this?

Elaine sat down on the sand and let the tears fall. She was so lost. How could she find herself again amongst all this turmoil?

“Elaine…”

Elaine looked up and saw Aaron standing a few feet away. She froze.

Aaron was walking down the beach after dinner and he had seen Elaine walk out from the doors that lead from the ground floor bedroom to the beach. He saw her standing there looking lost in thought and then she had sat down and started crying.

“I will go if you want me to” He said softly as he stepped back.

Elaine stood up and shook her head. She took a step towards him and it was now Aaron who held his breath.

She came near him and paused. Her heartbeat increased and she felt the similar fear creeping up her spine but then she looked into his eyes and gasped.

“It’s you…” She whispered. The grey eyes in her dreams, they were his. “You are the man in my dreams that makes me feel safe and loved”

“Oh god Elaine!” Aaron fell on his knees. “I do love you. I know it is hard for you to believe but even though it was only one week, it changed my whole life, you saved me.”

“You saved me beautiful” He said that to her every time in her dreams that turned into nightmares.

“I am lost without you baby. Please come back to me” Aaron looked at her with glassy eyes.

“I am trying” she whispered as tears spilled down her cheeks.

She reached out and caressed his cheek, the panic gripping her muscles but she tried to hold it back.

“Believe me I am trying”
