《King of The Vamps》Broken Bones

Ulric was seething. His best friend and second in command was out on a play date with Amaryllis. He heard them as they entered the castle, giggling and making unnecessary noise.

He was angry that his mate was getting friendly with another male, and that made him even angrier. He didn't want to feel possessive over the female, but there was no other option. Even if he didn't like it and even if she didn't know it, she was his.

He clenched his fists on his desk. He could smell her as soon as she walked into the castle. She smelled amazing, her scent pulled him in, comforted him. He hated that.

Ulric stood up from his desk and left his office. He was going to the gym. Every day he trained himself and pushed himself. He was always trying to get better than the day before, and he needed to take out his pent-up anger.

For two hours, Ulric was downstairs in the gym sparring with his warriors. His men were highly trained, lethal weapons, but even they could not beat the king.

After he felt somewhat satisfied, he left the gym. He did feel better after releasing some of his built up anger, but there was still this feeling of need in his chest which continued to spike his anger.

As Urlic was walking back to his quarters to shower, he ran into his little human mate. She was looking down at her feet as she walked along causing her smaller self to run into Ulric's large frame. He knew she would run into him, but he didn't move out of the way. He figured her reaction would be worth it.

She jumped back after she ran into him with a gasp.

Amaryllis hadn't seen anyone there. She knew as soon as her body touched him that it was Ulric. It was as if there was some kind of electric chain connecting them.

He hid the smile that was itching to form on his face at her expression. She was clearly shocked and her face definitely portrayed it.

"I'm so sorry!" She exclaimed.

Ulric stayed silent, staring down at the young girl. He could see her squirming, she felt awkward. Amaryllis met his gaze for a few moments, but then felt too intimidated and lowered her eyes to her shoes.

"I'm sorry," she said in a much quieter voice. He enjoyed watching her squirm.

He grabbed Amaryllis by the shoulders and pushed her against the wall. She was surprised again and looked up into his eyes.

He placed his finger under her chin to prevent her from looking back down again. "The next time you want to leave the castle, you ask my permission first." He said.

Amaryllis blushed, feeling ashamed and embarrassed. She should have asked him to leave first, after all, she was under his control.

She nodded. "Yes, sir."

Ulric glared at her for a moment longer, soaking up the feeling of her guilt before walking away.

The king smiled as he walked away. He enjoyed harassing the girl, but still, it was as if he wanted more.

He felt his anger dissipate after being near his mate, though he tried to not let that thought get to him too much.

As he walked down the hallway, he heard a loud bang from where Amaryllis was. He turned around as he felt a sense of urgency to protect the girl, but he tried to block that feeling out.

Amaryllis was laying on the floor, clutching her wrist in her other hand. Her wrist was in a lot of pain and she thought it might even be broken. She was going to sit there for a while longer before figuring out what she was going to do, but then she felt Ulric grasp her arm.

She looked up to see what he was doing, but he was staring at her rapidly swelling wrist. He looked focused, maybe even concerned. The thought made her smile, but she knew it wasn't true. He just wanted to make sure one of his servants wasn't injured.

He looked around at her wrist and when he poked too hard, she winced and sucked in a deep breath. Ulric looked at her face to make sure she was fine.

"I think it might be broken. Let's go," Ulric said. He wrapped his arms around her body and picked her up.

"What are you doing?" She gasped.

"I'm taking you to doctor, Amaryllis. Your wrist is clearly injured." He said as he walked toward a wing of the castle that Amaryllis had never been to before.

"I didn't think you would have a doctor here." She said. She didn't think they would need a doctor.

"We only need him for certain situations. Life or death if there is a bad accident where one of my men isn't healing properly." Ulric replied.

"I can walk myself you know," Amaryllis said, trying to get down from his hold. While she felt good being held in his arms, she knew that he felt disgusted by it.

Ulric did not answer the girl, he just kept walking. He walked into the medical wing and made it to the hospital. When he walked in, the doctor, who of course was also a vampire, immediately began asking what was wrong.

After an examination and some x-rays, the doctor concluded that Amaryllis's wrist was indeed broken. Her wrist would need to stay in a cast for six to eight weeks depending on how well it healed.

Ulric walked out of the infirmary, this time Amaryllis walked beside him.

"Thank you," she said to him. He just huffed in response.

As they got closer to the hallway she needed to go down to get to her room, she started to slow her pace. "What are you doing?" Ulric demanded. He noticed that she strayed farther behind him.

"I was going to my room," Amaryllis answered, confused.

"No. Come with me," he replied.

Now even more confused, Amaryllis followed behind the man.

Wow, does he smell good.

After a little bit more of walking, they made it to the King's quarters. He opened the door and walked in, her following right behind.

"You will stay in here for now. You can have the first room on the right," he said in a gruff voice. It was as if he really didn't want to give her the room like he was forced into it or something.

And that was true. Ulric really didn't want to care for the girl or give her a room in his quarters, but the mate pull was forcing him too. It would have pained him to allow his hurt mate to be on her own.

"Okay, thank you again," she said in a meek voice. He didn't want to admit it, but he thought it was cute.

"Tomorrow you will help me organize my office. I have too many papers and things and not enough room to put them," Ulric said.

"Okay," Amaryllis said. She felt her chest warming at the thought of spending more time with him. After all, the more time she spent with him, the less time that horrible girl Kayla could.

"You can go to your room for the night," Ulric dismissed.

"Yes, Sir," she answered. She wasn't really sure what to call him, but she felt he would punish her if she called him by his name.

When she walked into her new bedroom, she was beyond excited. It was much better than her old room. This one had an actual bed and the temperature wasn't freezing. There were actual hardwood floors and even a rug unlike the bare cold stone in the other one.

A smile lit up her face as she looked around. She even had her own bathroom.

A knock on the door pulled Amaryllis out of her daze. Before she could open the door, it was pushed open. It was Ulric.

"Here are your things from the cell," he said and handed a small pile of clothes and other little things out to her.

"Thank you," she said. He left the room and shut the door behind him.

She had a pair of pajamas and had five work outfits to change into. Luckily she washed all of her things the day before, so everything was nice and clean.

She didn't lock her bedroom door because she felt weird locking the King out of his own room, and maybe he would need her for something, but she did lock the bathroom door when she took a shower. She wasn't risking him walking in on her while she was naked.

When she was done with her shower, she put on her set of pajamas and laid down on the comfy looking bed. It was the most comfortable thing she had ever laid on. She never felt like moving again.

Amaryllis quickly dozed off. She hadn't slept that well since she got here due to the conditions of her room, but that night she slept the best she had in years. Possibly due to the man in the room not too far away from her.

Her sleep didn't last long though. At 6:30 am she was awoken by someone banging on the door. She jolted up from her sleep and clutched her chest. The noise scared her.

The door was then pushed open and Ulric walked in as if he owned the place. "Get dressed and meet me by the doors," he said and then left the room.

Amaryllis got out of the bed and quickly made it. She rolled all around in her sleep so it looked as if a monster slept in the bed last night instead of her.

She brushed her hair and her teeth as Ulric had brought up her hygiene products with her clothes the night before that she was given when she first arrived there. She put on some deodorant, dressed in her work clothes and walked out of her bedroom.

Ulric was standing by the doors already, looking brooding and menacing as always. He also looked handsome as always.

He stared Amaryllis down as she walked closer to him. When she got within a few feet of him she stopped walking, waiting for him to tell her what to do.

"Let's go," he said. She followed him through the hallways where he stopped at the humans' eating quarters. The guards opened the doors for her.

"Come back when you are done eating," he said before walking away.

While Amaryllis enjoyed the delicious breakfast, she couldn't help but wonder something.

Why had Ulric walked me down here? I thought he hated me?
