Lucas carried my all the way home, saying that I didn't need to exert anymore energy.

When we got back to the house we made turkey sliders with a secret sauce to put on top. The recipe is one Adaline taught me when I first started working in the kitchens.

After dinner Lucas held me close till we both fell asleep.

Pain.

Scorching heat.

My body felt like it was being enveloped by flames.

A whimper fell past my lips as I tried to find Lucas in the bed.

Opening my eyes I found Lucas' side of the bed empty. A note on his nightstand drew my attention in and made me forget about the pain for a split second.

Good morning baby girl! I had to go to my office but if you need anything you can come get me. Kendra,Lenna, and Jorgie will be around too to help you with anything.

I'll see later this afternoon.

Standing was a real challenge but getting to the stairs was harder. The heat that enveloped my entire body was enough to make tears fall down my cheeks.

Walking into the living room I see the girls laying on the couch and on chairs watching a tv show called Grey's Anatomy.

"McDreamy and Mer are actual couple goals! Look at all the love in their eyes!"

I wanted to smile at my friends as they fawned over the characters but a loud gasp left my mouth along with the heat intensifying ten folds. Standing was no longer an option as my legs gave out, causing me to collapse to the hardwoods.

"Oh my! Are you okay Audrey?"

An agonizing scream shakes my entire body as the girls rush to help me up. The heat raging wherever their hands connect to my body.

"Oh my goddess! She's in heat!"

"Crap! We need to get her to Lucas!"

"How? If we touch her then it will only make it worse!"

A pained whimper escapes my tight pressed lips as the girls argue on what to do.

Jorgie decides to take control of the situation, using her Beta voice she commands the girls to fetch the Queen,Princess, and Lucas.

"H-help..."

Barely able to get the words out the tears fall faster.

All I want is Lucas.

Lucas.

Lucas knows how to comfort me.

Lucas makes me feel safe and calm.

Lucas can help me through this all consuming fire, dancing beneath my skin.

A loud crash sounds from the stairway as a frantic Lucas dashes down the stairs and into the living room.

"Lucas. H-help me."

Lucas bends down and places my body in his arms as he goes to take me to our room.

Wherever Lucas skin comes in contact with mine, the fire disappears, leaving the sensational sparks.

Laying me down on our bed, Lucas moves his arms from me and the fire returns, warmer and stronger than before.

I can't control the pain filled scream that seems to shake the entire room.

Lucas quickly climbs into bed and places me in his lap, securing me in his arms.

The fire lessens but doesn't disappear like it did earlier.

Instinct takes over and I start to tug at Lucas finely tailored suit jacket and white button up.

Getting the message Lucas helps me remove the material from his upper body. Laying back on his chest causes a soothing sigh to pass my lips.

A knock on the door signals someone trying to get in. Lucas let's out a deep and ground shaking growl. A warning to however is on the other side of the door. The growl that would normally scare me to death causes a foreign feeling to settle in my lower abdomen.

The door opens and Lucas tightens his arms around me, protecting me from whoever decided to come into our den.

Room.

I meant room.

"Now I know you didn't just growl at your mother. King to be or not I will still kick your butt."

Lucas pulls me deeper into his chest, not that I'm complaining. Snuggling deeper causes the feeling in my stomach to intensify and the sparks cause my nerves to go into hyper drive.

"Audrey dear? I need to tell you what is going on."

Paying attention was important. I know that. But with Lucas holding me the way he is makes it very hard to focus.

"Audrey. Focus."

"Yes mama."

I can't stop myself before I call Sophia that. It just felt right. Judging from the smile and shine in her eyes, Sophia is happy I did.

"Audrey, what is happening to you is called heat. Do you know what that is?"

"Other than the fact I feel like my body is being eaten by flames? No mama. Why is this happening to me?"

I feel my eyes well with tears and I can't help the sob that racks my entire body. Lucas wraps his arms impossibly tighter as he tries to comfort me. I can feel the fire slowly stirring awake and I know that the pain will be returning soon.

"Almost all she-wolves go through it. It's our bodies and wolves trying to get you to complete the mating bond. Since you are a queen it is worse than all other she-wolves. The monarchy relies on you so your body wants you to complete it faster. Your emotions will be out of control, your body feels like it is on fire, you will be on edge the entire time. The worst part is that your body will crave Lucas touch the entire time, wanting the mating process to be completed. Your wolf will demand it from Lucas wolf and Lucas will have a hard time controlling himself, instinct taking over. Your heat should end within a few days but if Lucas marks you it will most likely please your wolves enough to end the heat. Or not and they will still demand you finish the bond. It's different for all but the heat will get worse as time goes on.I'm just warning you now."

The fire is growing with each passing second, demanding something be done.

The Queen leaves and shuts the door but her description on what is happening stays in the front of my mind.

"I'm sorry baby girl. I'm sorry that this is happening to you. I would take it away if I could."

He can Aud. Have him mark us and this will most likely end.

"You can end it. You heard your mom. Mark me and this will stop. Do it."

I look up and see black starting to swirl in the deep pools of Lucas eyes. Conflicting emotions fill his face and I know he is trying to control himself.

I let my instincts take over and I place feather light kisses along Lucas jaw. The light stubble tickling my lips. A groan sounds from Lucas and I know he is enjoying the affection I'm giving him.

His cheeks.

His eye lids.

His nose.

I kiss everywhere but his lips and the groans and tightening of his arms drives my senses crazy.

Lucas quickly takes control of the situation and smashes his lips onto mine. The feeling of love and lust were both present and I knew I was enjoying this just as much as Lucas.

Kiss after kiss the fire within me slowly started to disappear into a low simmer. The tightening of my stomach increased as the seconds ticked by.

Pulling apart to catch our breath I stare into Lucas almost pitch black eyes except the light bluish silver around the center of his eyes.

The two words that fall from my lips change everything and I know I won't regret this decision.

"Mark me."

The look on Lucas face shows me that he is trying his best to fight his instincts and my demand. Grabbing his face with both of my small hands, I force Lucas' eyes to meet mine.

"It's okay. I want you too."

A vulnerable look passes over his face that makes my heart swell from the genuine concern adorning his features.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

The word comes out as breathless, almost whisper, yet the finality in my voice let's Lucas know I'm sure that I want this.

Lucas leans down to kiss my lips once again before he moves down my jaw to my neck. He travels at a slow speed that sends my body into an absolute bliss.

When he reaches the spot where my neck and shoulder connect my back arches and I feel the smirk on his lips. He found my sweet spot.

Placing several kisses here I feel my nerves awaken and make me notice every tingle this man is creating.

I feel his canines touch my flesh and I can't help the shiver of pure anticipation that flows through me.

A sharp pain emerges from my neck when Lucas bites down. Before I can scream in agony the feeling quickly turns to one of pure pleasure. The sparks intensify by 100 and I can't help but let the suppressed moan escape into the room.

Lucas pulls his canines out and licks the wound clean. Lucas lays beside me and pulls me into his arms as darkness starts to cloud my vision.

"I love you baby girl. Sweet dreams."

With that I fall into complete darkness.
