《Unveiling the Arcane》Aiden

There was nothing new from Sage's stalker by Friday. The silence did little to make me feel secure. In complete contrast, I was wound up tight wondering what they would do next. Sage had been feeling sick the last two days and refused to stay at the cabin. We knew she probably had what Maddox had a while ago. She would probably have to stay home from work on Saturday if she kept getting worse. Caden and I were waiting for her in the living room to walk her to school like we usually did. The other guys left early to get big breakfasts but Caden, Sage, and I usually just grabbed something small from a coffee cart or the café on the way to school. It was getting close to the time we should be leaving before Sage finally staggered down the stairs. Apparently, I had been wrong. She didn't have one more day before she needed to stay home, she needed to stay home now.

"Sage, you need to call in. You're sick." Caden spoke for both of us like he usually did.

She shook her head before grabbing her bag from the hook by the door. "I feel fine. I never get sick." She grumbled slipping her foot into her school shoes.

"You look like death," I told her.

She shot a glare at me, "I thought you were supposed to be the charmer."

Even sick as hell the girl could still give sass with the worst of them. I sighed and rubbed the bridge of my nose. "Your tie isn't even tied, and your skirt is on inside out." I gave her a look that should make her question if she was a moron or not.

She looked down, cursing before anyone else could say anything she unzipped the skirt and let it pool at her feet. I had never had a schoolgirl fantasy but a few of them were running through my mind as I stared at Sage in stunned silence in her lacy black panties and knee-high socks with her rumpled shirt and tie draped across her shoulders. I didn't even feel bad for staring this time. She undressed in a common area that was all the permission I needed to gorge my eyes on her cheeks poking out of the bottom of her panties as she bent over to right her skirt and slip it on the right way.

"Better?" She asked looking up to see both of us staring at her intently.

For once I think my brother and I were completely in agreement on wanting to own her. "Yeah," Caden said in a rough voice he seemed to have to force out.

"You should stay home," I told her.

She glared at me again, "No."

I watched as she fiddled with the tie not seeming to be able to get it right. I stepped forward and pulled the fabric from her hands before tying it properly. "There. If you really want to get to school, we need to leave now." I told her.

She nodded and walked over to the front door. Caden and I put our shoes on before we filed out onto the porch. Sage stopped walking and her eyes became distant as her brow furrowed. "What's wrong?" Caden asked taking a step towards her.

"I don't feel so... Think I'm going to pass out." She said before swaying for another moment and collapsing like a used paper bag.

It was good Caden was so close since he caught her before she could fall to the ground. He looked over at me with wide eyes. I shrugged my shoulders this was not what Maddox had been sick with. A new worry entered my mind as Caden picked her up and carried her back into the cabin. Instead of following like I wanted to, I pulled out my phone and called my mom.

She answered on the second ring, "What's wrong?" She said in her worried voice.

"Hey mom, I just had a few questions," I said carefully.

She would know what I wanted to talk about because of recent events. I just needed to make sure she wasn't with anyone that could overhear the conversation. "I'm in the study. I can try to answer your questions but there isn't a lot of well-known information." She hedged.

I nodded knowing she was right but hoped she could help anyway. "So, from everything I have been able to find it seems that Sirens are a lot like Incubi and Succubi."

"Yes and no. They are much more powerful. They don't just control emotional energy, but they can command a person to do something that they wouldn't normally do." She spoke.

I laughed softly, "Yeah I know, we tested it and she had Caden call Dante Mr. Fluffy Butt."

My mother laughed despite the situation as well. "Yes, that is what I mean. They can be very dangerous. Which is why they were hunted to extinction."

I sighed, I knew all of this already, "My question is that while they are like sex demons do they need to feed on sexual energy like we do?"

My mother sighed and I just knew she was rubbing her left temple, "They do in a way, but I would warn against it. Sirens can create bonds with their mates through intercourse. If any of you sleep with her, you could become linked to her for the rest of her life. You know what happens when a mate passes away. Sirens can feed on any emotional anger. Happiness, anger, or lust like we do." She explained.

"So, if we bonded and anyone finds out about her, I would die too if they killed her?" I asked the question already knowing the answer.

"Yes. That's why a lot of powerful species are now low in numbers. Sirens while strong in power are usually not able to protect themselves physically because of their light bodies and low muscle tone. They would mate with physically stronger Arcane Species to protect them. When the sirens were hunted down their mates died with them."

"You keep saying, mates. Like as in more than one?" I asked.

"They are one of the few species that take multiple mates. I think the most ever recorded was ten but almost always had more than one." She told me.

"Okay, thanks for the information mom," I told her sincerely.

"Be careful and think before you make any decisions." Her voice was hard when she said it.

"I will," I told her knowing I had already made up my mind if Sage would allow it.

"I love you and tell the boys that I love them too, and I hope to meet this girl soon." She told me her voice returned to her normal softness.

"I'll tell them. Love you too." I said before hanging up the phone.

I looked out over the woods around us. This wasn'twhat I had hoped for when I had called but it was better because strongemotions were everywhere. It would be easier for her than sex demons like mymother and me. There wasn't much of a choice though. We needed to produce a lotof strong emotions quickly and there was only one way to really do that. LetSage starve to the point she absorbs everyone's emotions or bind myself to herirrevocably. I knew I would do anything to make sure she was okay even if thatmeans dying when she does. At this point though what is the point of lifewithout her in it. I had never been more involved with life than I was now thatshe was in my life. Pointless, that's what it would be if Sage wasn't there. Ihad just never realized how deep into the hole I had fallen before she hadpulled me out of it.
