《Take My Broken Soul》CH 31- Friday Night Lights

"Give me your broken soul and I'll fix it, Angel."
Nathan's whispered words keep running through my head as I get ready for the football game. I don't think he meant for me to hear them, but he will never know how much I needed them.
You can trust him. He won't break you further.
I need to tell him everything. I trust him enough and I know he will never do anything to hurt me. How did I fall in love with this man so fast?
You said love!
I did? I did. Gosh, I'm in love with Nathan O'Conner.
Now, how the hell are you going to tell him?
Oh my. I have no clue.
Ignoring the fact that I'm having conversations with myself, I keep preparing for the game. I quickly finish curling my hair into soft waves and putting the red and blue ribbon in it. After finishing my makeup and pulling on Nathan's extra jersey with some ripped jeans, I head out to meet up with my family. We all walk out to Nate's big truck, climb in, and drive off to the game. As everyone talks around me, I just keep thinking about what my crazy brain has come up with.
Tonight, I will let Nathan break down my walls. Tonight, I tell him everything.

"And another great pass from number 4, Wyatt Scott. Wyatt is one of two freshmen to be on the Texas Bay varsity team and it is being shown why here tonight, folks. With number 4 in the quarterback position, our very own Nathan O'Conner is running the ball all the way for another touchdown."
"WOHOOOOO!"
"OC, OC, OC"
"GO FRESHIE"
I clap and cheer along with the rest of the crowd as I see Wyatt run into the end zone to celebrate with Nate. My boys are on fire tonight! After the first half, the team was up by so much that the coach put Nate as running back and Wyatt in as quarterback. Those two are absolutely killing it. It's the end of the third quarter and Texas Bay is up 35-0.
I look down at the field again and see Wyatt and Nate looking up into the stands. I quickly pick up Dylan, while Candace holds Katie and we all start waving our hands like crazy. I can tell the second they see us because both of their faces light up and Wyatt sends us a wave before turning back to the game. Nate stays facing us and gives me a wink and blows me a kiss. A couple of girls around me sigh, probably thinking it was for them. Little do they know that man is all mine.

After we set the twins back down, I hear the crowd erupt again as we steal the ball and put it out of bounds. I watch the offensive line go back out and hear Candace let out a loud whistle.
"Woohoo there's my sexy man. Go number 40." She yells out to Keith, who points to her before running out onto the field.
"Dang. I didn't know football games could be this fun. This is definitely a lot more different than Wyatt's old peewee league that I used to watch." I yell at Candace to be heard over the crowd.
My mind goes to a memory of my parents and I sitting at Wyatt's game. My dad can be heard coaching from the sidelines while my mom is cheering everyone on. My mom was the definition of a soccer mom. She always had the 'Football Mom' t-shirts on and was always carrying a tub of orange slices for after the game. They were a hoot to watch because sometimes my dad would get too carried away and mom would force him to sit in the chair. It was really funny because my dad would try to get up but immediately stop when my mom sent him her famous death glare.
They would've loved to see Wyatt playing now. Pushing the sad memory away, I lean in towards Candace so I can hear her better.
"Ya. Since Texas Bay is so good, they have a lot of supporters. Although that also means the boys have a bunch of wannabee hookers crawling all over them. My perv of a brother eats it up and Tank isn't much better. Luckily, basically everyone knows that Keith and I are together so they leave him alone." I feel a ping of jealousy race through my veins, at her words.
"Oh. Do you think I should be worried about Nathan? I mean he's like the star quarterback. What if he misses all the attention from the other girls?" I ask worriedly. Candace just looks at me like I'm crazy and waves off my words.
"Please. That man is so head over heels in love with you, I don't even think he realizes there are other girls in this stadium." She says with total confidence, oblivious to the fact that she just shocked me to the core.
"He loves me?" I ask, more to myself but she hears.

"Uhh duh. I thought it was obvious. That man looks at you the same way my Keith looks at me. And honey, you have the same look your in eyes that I do. I think the only ones who haven't realized it yet are you and him." She says nonchalantly.
He loves me.
And you love him.
Isn't it a little early though. I know I admitted it to myself before, but this is going really fast right?
Wrong. It's love, there's no timeline. Stop being a scaredy cat and woman up. You two are in loveeeee.
I'm interrupted from my thoughts when another touchdown is scored and the crowd goes wild. Everyone around me is cheering their heads off but all I can think about is how the man of my dreams is staring at me like I'm the one who just made the touchdown. I look back at him with a huge smile on my face as the realization sets in that my life, now, with him, is really fricken amazing.

"You guys played amazing!" I say while walking over to give Wyatt a big hug. After a quick squeeze back, I'm pulled in to Nathan's strong embrace, lifted off the ground, and spun around.
"Heck ya! We dominated that game." Nate says before putting me on my feet and looking down into my eyes.
"All because I had to show off for my girl." He whispers into my ear and then leans down to give me an earth-shattering kiss.
I hear catcalls around us from his teammates but ignore them and just lean further into him. Everything else melts away as our lips crash onto each and our breath mixes together. All too soon our moment is shattered by my annoying brother.
"Ok, ok. Innocent little brother here. I so do not need to see you sucking face with my sister." He grumbles, earning him a light slap on the arm from Candace.
"Oh, hush. Leave them be. They look so perfect together." She says on a sigh and leans further into Keith's embrace.
I feel my face turn beet red and bury my head in Nate's chest. I can feel his laughter vibrate through him, but don't look up until he cups my face in his hands. Then he gives me a chaste kiss, spins me, and pulls my back to his front with his arms crossed over me.
"I say we go celebrate little man's first game." Tank says, fluffing Wyatt's hair.
"I'm not little." He grumbles again, slugging the big guy in the arm.
"There's an after party at Chelsea's Tank and I need to hit, but I'm down for some pizza and ice cream first." Mouse says excitedly.
"Of course you guys are going to Chelsea's. So I'm guessing I shouldn't be expecting your nasty ass at home tonight?" Candace asks Mouse.
"If everything goes to plan, I won't be coming home until tomorrow night." Mouse says with a smirk.
"Ewww. Just make sure you glove it. I am so not letting you back in the house if catch some grody STD from that hoe." Candace says with a disgusted look. Everyone just laughs and Keith holds her closer.
"Looks like I'm getting my girl all to my self tonight." He says, kissing Candace's neck.
"Well y'all are welcome back at my place. I just went to the store because I figured you pigs would be at my house eating all my food at some point. So, there's plenty of ice cream and I can have some pizza delivered." Nate offers the group.
"Sounds good to me. We'll all follow in Keith's car. Since Mouse and I probably should not be driving later tonight, I figure we'll call an Uber or something to the party." Tank says. Everyone agrees and starts walking to their respective vehicles.
Wyatt, Katie, Dylan, Nate, and I all load into Nate's big black truck. And Candace, Mouse, Tank, and Keith all hop into Keith's white one. You know, you would think these guys are compensating for something but Candace made sure to tell me Keith isn't lacking in any department and if the crowd of girls watching us all leave is any indication, neither are the other three.
Nate starts the truck and off we go, with the other car following behind. We decide to get home first and order pizza after we settle in. As we round the corner to his house I think back through the football game.
It's shaping up to be a pretty darn good night, I'd say. I don't think anything could ruin my high right now.
"Holy shit!" Nate exclaims.
Me and my big, fat mouth.

Dying and being reborn in a fantasy world as a hero destined to kill the Demon King to prevent a great war is some people's greatest dream. Others, however, may prefer to sit around, relax, take a few naps, and ignore the impending doom. And hey, if such a 'hero' gets reborn as a cat, what's gonna stop them from doing all that? Finding a warm home filled with food, gossip, and comfort sounds a whole lot easier than putting in the work to stop a war. Updating weekly, allegedly. Constructive criticism is appreciated as this is my first story!

After failing as an apprentice cooper and a town guard, Eli finds his place at the Rockbridge archives. Sure, he's the oldest 'junior scribe,' but he likes the job. And he's good at it, too. Then he completes an apparently-insignificant project, and the brutal reaction shocks him--with consequences that eventually shake the world. Eli gains powers. Rare and inhuman abilities. He progresses slowly, steadily, and not without setbacks. He changes, too. Is he a hero, a villain, a human, a monster? Depends who you ask. Meek is an epic fantasy with elements of progression. The basic magic is simple: five Paths, each with a different powerset. However, complexity arises from combinations, and the protagonist wields a magic all his own. Meek is set in the Valley, the only (as far as anyone knows) human empire that survived a Final Battle against a terrible foe. The Valley is warded against infiltration, but the enemy learned how to warp human souls, to foment discord within. However, another soul is also ... changed. Perhaps even 'warped.' And that soul is starting on a long (long, long) path that might, one day, prove that the Final Battle wasn't so final after all.

Richard Adams is something of a talented alchemist. One of the few magical professions that have anything to do with some kind of science. Everything was going swimmingly, until the 'cold night' incident happened. With it being determined as his fault, that such a thing happened. He was promptly exiled until he could return to Eclipse with a new 'discovery' for his field. What he didn't expect; was that he'd run into a strange humanoid monster that could seemingly heal any life threatening wound in a matter of seconds. Certainly this would be what he needs to become a master alchemist. The first step on a multi series journey. Please excuse the earliest chapters and their poor grammer. Ebony Chitin follows Richard Adams, and Mimi on their Journey to understand each other and the world around them. Due the the exploratory nature of such a claim, it will cover many different topics. This was my first attempt at actually writing a story, and because of that I will not edit it. I'd suggest reading the second part as it comes out as most of the things within this book will be recapped. Though if it becomes popular I hope it might inspire some of you readers to write your own stories. Cover Art by Rose Dragon
