《Accidental Nikkah》CHAPTER 30

Have you ever wondered, How the sun was given its name? Or how everything we know has a name or a meaning to it? Research. We all know what we know, because someone in the world had taken an interest in finding out. It is not easy for anyone to just get up and give names to things, it is a big process. And us, without knowing, help such researchers in naming the object. Either by expressing how we feel about it or what we think about it?
We do it because us humans, have the tendency to comment about everything. It is not bad to comment on things, but it is bad to comment negative about it.
Aayan couldn't believe his eyes. It was currently around 12 noon, and Mason ran into his office without knocking. He was gonna yell at Mason for just barging in like that, but Mason placed his tab before Aayan, urging him to read it. Ands that's what Aayan has been doing, reading the articles published, and then the comments.
What is this nonsense? People can't just comment whatever they like.
He was getting furious by every passing comments. He had never encountered such atrocity before, then again, he was also not that much into social media life. But apart from all this, he had only one major concern.
Has Ruhee already seen this? If she has, she would be extremely hurt and sad.
And Aayan's concern was answered when his mobile rang. He picked up to see that Ruhee was calling. He quickly answered the call,"Hello." there was no reply. He pulled back to see whether he had answered the call, to see he did. He placed the device back near his ear and said again, "Hello?" "Aayan." was all he heard, but it was enough.
Ruhee's voice was so heavy, that it made Aayan's heart beat fast, but not with joy or happiness, but sadness and disappointment. He should have handled it before Ruhee knew of this. "Did you see the articles?" Ruhee asked in a soft yet heavy voice. Aayan nodded his head, but soon replied softly, "Yes." "Oh." was all he got. He had no idea what was going on in Ruhee's mind. He wanted to know if she even saw the comments, but he was scared to ask.
After few minutes of silence, he heard Ruhee inhale strongly, "I'll be home late. Inform Ammi that." she said, in a small voice. "Why?" he asked. "I wanna go visit my parents." she replied, softly. "I'll send a driver to drop you." Aayan suggested. "No, I'll go alone. It's okay." she replied, in a small voice. "Okay." Aayan said, he didn't want to agree, but somehow he did. None of them cut the call. He wanted to go and comfort Ruhee so badly, to tell her that he'll handle everything, that she need not worry, but he couldn't bring himself to. "Bye." he heard Ruhee's voice say, more like question, and the call ended.
He kept his mobile on his table top and just stared at it's blank screen. He suddenly looked up at Mason, with determination in his eyes. He threw the tab towards Mason and he caught it,"I want everything gone and wiped clean in an hour." he said, in a stern and strict voice. Mason nodded and left.

After 47 minutes, Mason walks in after knocking, he comes in to stand before Aayan, "Everything is clear, sir. Like it never happened." Mason said, to his boss. Aayan got up from his seat, nodding his head. He picked up his mobile and car keys and left to go home. He wanted to eat lunch at home today.
He reached home safely, got out of his car and walked to the front door. Typed in the pin on the keypad and entered to hear two female voices. He looked at his watch to see, its just 2:15pm.
But Ruhee said she'll be late.
He looked at the two women sitting in the living room, who were now looking at him. One was his mother and the other one was....
Farheen? What is she doing here?
"How come you are home early?" Sahma asked her son. "I just wanted to eat lunch at home." he replied, eying Farheen. Sahma looked at what her son was looking at and replied, "Ah yes. Farheen had come today morning around 10am. She even made lunch and bought today." Sahma said, smiling at Farheen. Farheen just blushed. Sahma looked at Aayan and said, "Why don't you go freshen up while we set the table." "Oh, I'll do that Ammi, you just stay here." and she moves to arrange the dining table. Aayan just shakes his head at her effort and walks up to his room, to freshen up.
He changes into some casual shirt and jeans and walks down. He was not planning on going back to work, as he wanted to stay with Ruhee for the day. He didn't like the way she sounded on the call, and that really worried him.
Is she really okay? I can tell that she was really sad because of the articles, I so hope she had not read the comments.
Aayan goes to sit on the dining table on his seat. Sahma takes her usual position while Farheen sits in Ruhee's chair. Aayan didn't like the idea of her sitting in Ruhee's chair, but he didn't wanna sound rude asking her to not sit there,"Farheen dear, why don't you come and sit next to me, I can talk to you better that way." Sahma says, smiling at her. Aayan just smiled at his mother.
Farheen looked at Aayan then to his mother, she nodded, and got up to sit next to Sahma. They began to eat in silence. Aayan had already texted his mother about Ruhee being late. After the meal, they all sat in the living room. Farheen was behaving very modest. Dressed up in a chudidar, a dupatta and hijab, soft and polite voice, the ideal girl. But Aayan had a certain Jean wearing, talkative and rather cheerful girl occupying his mind. He looked at the clock, it was 3:15pm and he was getting worried.
She said she'll be home before 3pm, but it's past now.
Farheen was happily talking with Sahma, but she could notice Aayan being all anxious and restless. She suddenly asks Aayan, "Is everything okay, Aayan?" Aayan looks at her and just nods. That's when, the encoding of the keypad is heard and the door opens. Aayan looks towards the door, to see an exhausted and tired Ruhee walk in. A sense of relief washed over him when he saw her, but the look on her face, didn't settle well with him.

"Ruhee." Sahma calls to her. Ruhee, as if surprised, looks at the voice that called out to her. She looks at Sahma and smiles, but Aayan could tell it was forced. "Come here and meet our guest." Ruhee nods slowly and walks down the two stairs, into the living room, to stand beside Sahma. "Ruhee, this is Farheen Begum, on of Aayan's most wise board members daughter. And Farheen, this is Ruhee Shariff, Uh....... Our far off relative, who is staying with us for awhile." Sahma introduces them. They greet each other. Ruhee excuses herself to freshen up.
Ruhee turns around to catch eye with Aayan. Aayan just examined her all this while, the look in her eyes was so blank that it broke his heart. He was used to seeing joy and happiness in her eyes, but this Ruhee felt foreign to him. Ruhee gave him a small smile, and walked up the stairs. Aayan just looked at the place were Ruhee was standing before. He had no doubt on what he saw. He just saw tears forming at the corner of Ruhee's beautiful eyes.
Did she cry? Or Is she gonna cry?
Aayan was so worried about Ruhee, that the question Farheen asked Sahma didn't bother him, "Why is Ruhee walking upstairs? As far as I know, the only two rooms upstairs are Aayan's Bedroom and his Study." Sahma was shocked on how to reply to that. She cannot tell Farheen that she is her son's wife. "Oh, Um... The... Guest Rooms Uh, Closet Uh, is under renovation, so she keeps her clothes in Aayan's closet. Yeah, that right, renovation." Sahma replies, with relief. "She could have kept it in your closet, Ammi?"
"Ammi's closet is too full to keep her clothes in, so she kept in mine. Is that enough or you wanna ask more?" Aayan says, irritated. "Aayan, Don't be so harsh." Sahma scolds him. Aayan just turns his head away. Farheen just looks at her hands ashamed. "Don't mind him dear, you know how he is." Sahma says, to Farheen softly. She just nods at her smiling and they continue talking.
Aayan didn't want to sound rude, but her non - stop questioning was annoying him more. He was still worried about Ruhee. He was sure he saw tears at the corner of Ruhee's eyes. He didn't know this matter would hurt her so badly. It had been half an hour, and Ruhee didn't come down yet. Aayan abruptly got up.
I need to go check on her.
He turns around to see Ruhee walking down the stairs, wearing a purple frock top and faded blue jeans, with a black hijab. She walks down to come and sit on the sofa, opposite to Sahma and Farheen, while Aayan was sitting on the centre couch. "Ruhee, did you have lunch?" Sahma asks her. "No, Ammi." she replies. "Then you should go and have some, dear." Sahma tell her, frowning. "No, Ammi, I am not feeling hungry." Ruhee replies, smiling. "Are you feeling okay, dear?" Sahma asks worried. "Yes, Ammi, I am absolutely fine. Just don't feel like it."
"Then, let's have snacks. Aayan, order some snacks, will you?" Sahma says, looking at Aayan. Aayan, who was analyzing Ruhee, quickly replied, pulling out his mobile. "Of course, Ammi. Cake? You like Cake, right Ruhee? I'll order cake." "It's okay." Ruhee says, denying it, but Sahma shushes her saying, that it is also for the guest.
Ruhee had eaten a whole slice of red velvet cake, due to Aayan's and Sahma's constant compelling. Around 8pm,"I am feeling really tired, so if you'd excuse me, I am going to bed early." Ruhee says, getting up. "Then, I'll also take my leave." Farheen says, getting up. "Why don't you stay over for dinner, dear?" Sahma asks, Farheen. "No, Ammi, I need to go home." Farheen replies, smiling. She says her goodbyes and is about to leave when Saham says, "Aayan, why don't you take Farheen to her car?" Aayan wanted to deny to that and look after Ruhee, but agreed.
Outside, before Farheen was gonna enter her car, "Ruhee is the girl you took to the party, right?" she asks, looking at him. Aayan just nods his head. Farheen just nods in understanding and gets in her car, and the car speeds off. Farheen had noticed all this while, how Sahma and Aayan treated Ruhee. She didn't mind Sahma taking care of her, because Sahma was like that, but Aayan. She didn't like how Aayan kept looking at Ruhee or staring at her. And so, Farheen doesn't like Ruhee, especially that she is staying at his home.
Aayan walks in to see Sahma staring up the stairs, worried. He goes to stand next to his mother and asks, "What's wrong, Ammi?" Sahma looks at Aayan, "Aayan, I am really worried about Ruhee. She didn't eat lunch, on much compelling had a slice of cake, and now, she doesn't wanna eat dinner aswell." she says. "Don't worry, Ammi, I'll take care of her." saying this, Aayan runs up the stairs and into his room.
He looks around to find the entire room empty. He looked at the couch to see it empty. Then he heard some voice coming from the closet. He slowly moved towards the closet, the closer he got, the more the voice became clear. Now, he was standing right in front of the closet door. His eyes widened, it was the sound of someone sobbing. He quickly opened the closet and looked towards where the voice was coming from.
To his right, down on the floor, he saw Ruhee's crouched down figure, sobbing hard. Worry filled him up. He kneeled down next to her. "Hey, Hey, Ruhee, You okay?" he asked, worried. Ruhee looked up from between her hands, to Aayan. Her eyes were red and all puffy from crying. Her face was covered with some wet some dry tears. Aayan had no idea what to do, he had never encountered such situation. The next move Ruhee made really got him off guard.
Ruhee had lunged forward, hugging Aayan, placing her head on his chest, and sobbing hard. Aayan's hands, on reflex, immediately went around Ruhee as he held her in his arms.
Oh God!

A Girl and Her Food
When a lost girl wakes up without a name, she quickly finds herself alone in a way that people around her can’t fix. Without a real plan and desperate to find what’s wrong with her, she thrashes and bites to stay alive. But human beings are weak things, that band together for strength, no matter who we are. Now if only she could work up the courage to ask one question... It’s normal to get stronger when you drink the blood of monsters. Right? Things to expect: - A powerful but kinda neurotic and emotional protagonist, with some degree of weak to strong. Or maybe strong to stronger, honestly. She's pretty rational and practical about things but won't always make the best decisions, so be warned if you super-dislike characters doing dumb stuff for emotional reasons sometimes. - Lots of dialogue and characterization, especially as we get more into it. It's focused on a single POV, but there might be some sections of other POVs later on, I'm not sure right now. - Magic is on the softer side, but I'll try to keep things fleshed out enough to avoid any obvious "well-established magic could have seemingly instantly solved this problem" moments. - I didn't add the mystery tag because I feel like it implies that this is a detective novel or something, but the story is absolutely incredibly opaque at times. So you'll have the most fun if you go into it trying to puzzle out the nature of events before they're explicitly explained!😇 - Also, I added the genre for completion, but it's gonna take a while to get to the romance. Please wait warmly and have some tea. Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge!
