《Accidental Nikkah》CHAPTER 11

After the heavy rainfall ends, a melodious silence is heard, before the gushing of the busy world. For some people, that silence is golden, but to some, it's just annoyingly calm.
To Sahma, the silence in the house was golden, but to Ruhee and Aayan, it was annoyingly calm.
When Sahma and the others reached Ruhee's home, her parents, welcomed them in pleasantly, they knew them only as their sons boss.
Ruhee was told to make tea and bring snacks while they settled in the living room, starting small talks.
Ruhee bought four cups of tea and one cup of coffee, since Aayan only drinks coffee, along with some chocolate and vanilla cookies. She had no problem in making that one extra cup of coffee, since what his mother was gonna say to her parents bothered her more.
For some reason, Ruhee trusted his mother with the matter, but she couldn't help but be anxious. She would glance at Aayan time to time, noticing that he was glancing toward her.
Sahma keeps her cup of tea down with a smile, the tea was really good. And seeing Ruhee do such simple things like make tea and coffee, that to so good, made her happy at her choice.
Sahma looked at her parents and said "I would like to speak to Ruhee's parents in private, please."
All the people present in the room looked at each other when Ruhees's mother said "Ruhee, take sana and go to your room....." she looked at her son "..... Ian, take your bosses to our room."
They do as she says, Ruhee takes her little sister to their room across the dinning Hall, while Ian takes Aayan and Zubair, to his parents room, attached to the living room, where elders were currently sitting.
Ruhee grew impatient in the room as time went by. She wanted to know what they were talking about. Her sister was playing with her dolls, ignoring Ruhee's anxious state.
She picks her mobile and opens her chat group.
Ruhee - Aayan's mother has come to meet my parents.
After few seconds, she got her replies.
Afza - Dude, you are doomed. 😳
Jian - You can never trust men,he ratted out to his mother, what a mama's boy. 😠
Aina - Why did she wanna meet your parents?
Aina was the only girl to ask a logical question, than to jumping to an immediate conclusion. And Ruhee was happy that she asked.
Ruhee - Actually, I was the one who told her everything, and she said she'd help. Currently, she is speaking to my parents in the living room.
Ruhee - She sent us all away. Said she wanted to talk to them privately. Aayan and the boys are in my parents room, while sana and me are in our room.

Ruhee looked at her sister playing carelessly with her dolls and smiled.
I envy how carefree she is.
Jian - See! You are already supporting your so called husband. You have changed after marriage Ruhee.
What does she mean? When did I support him?
Aina - Why did she send you all in?
That I would also like to know.
Afza - Do you trust her with the matter?
I don't know why but I do.
Afza - And what do you mean boys?
Ruhee - Zubair had tagged along with Aayan. And apparently my brother works at his company. So he happened to come aswell.
Only Afza asked about the boys. I wonder why?
Ruhee thought smirking.
Ruhee - Anyway, Even I want to know what they are talking about, the curiosity is killing me.
Just then, the door to her room opens and her mom walks in, she looks at Ruhee and rushes to hug her.
"Oh my poor girl, you had to go threw so much in a matter of few hours." her mother says, her voice cracking.
Ruhee is shocked to say the least.
Is Ammi, crying?
Her mom pulls apart and looks at her with tear filled eyes and says "Don't worry, we have saught things out, now." And she drags Ruhee out the door.
In the living room, Aayan's mom and her dad were sitting on the sofa, while Aayan was standing facing them. Zubair and Ian were leaning at the door frame of her parents bedroom. The atmosphere was tense.
What is going on?
Her mom moves her to stand beside Aayan and goes to sit next to her husband. They smile at each other and turn to look at the confused couple standing before them.
Aayan and Ruhee stare at their parents, waiting for anyone to say something, anything.
Ruhee's dad breaks the silence. He looks at Ruhee with sad eyes and a sad smile and says "We understand Ruhee, that what you had to do, was the best choice you had at that moment."
Ruhee frowns at her father not exactly getting what he meant by that.
Her father continues "You agreeing to marry a stranger was the best choice you had, you both had, to save yourself from the goons. I am proud of you, that you stood up for yourself."
Ruhee was getting more confused.
Atleast they know I got married to him, and seems like they are okay with it.
Her father continues "We heard you even asked for a Talaq, but my daughter, its not that easy."
Now Ruhee was kinda dissappointed. She frowned with a pout. Her father smiled at her expression and said "You got lucky, that it turned out be someone like him, to get married to rather than some weird guy."

Ruhee looks at Aayan standing next to her, smirking. She so wanted to wipe that smirk off his handsome face but she held it in.
How am I lucky getting married to him?
She looks back at her parents to find them smiling at them both. Her father continues "You see, Talaq is not a small matter, it's a really big decision and I am glad Mrs. Ibrahim came to speak to us." Her father looks at Sahma, gratefully.
He turns his attention back to the couple before him "So, seeing the matter at hand, we have all come to a conclusion." Everyone was waiting for him to continue.
He smiles before saying "We want you live together for three months before Talaq."
There was a pin drop silence in the room. As if, everyone had stopped breathing. And after a long moment of silence. "What!!?" Aayan and Ruhee, exclaim at the same time.
They look at each other and frown, over the thought of living together. They look back at her father, waiting for him to say, it was a joke.
But he didn't reply and just smiled at them. "You can't do this Abbu, I cannot live with ." Ruhee says pointing at Aayan.
Aayan looks at her finger and back to her father "With due respect sir, but how can you ask your daughter, to live with a complete stranger, that to for three months?"
Aayan's mother replies smiling "But you are not strangers anymore, you are husband and wife."
Aayan just stares at his mother.
Ruhee's father interrupts their staring contest by saying "Don't think we are forcing you to do it, but thses are just the conditions before any normal Talaq."
"But this not a normal Talaq Abbu, we had an Accidental Nikkah, which means nothing to us." When Ruhee said that, a little part in her hurt.
But that's the truth. This marriage just happened, given the circumstances.
"Ruhee, we get were you are coming from...." her father said.
Do you?
Ruhee never showed her parents what she felt, she only showed them what they wanted her to feel. But this time, it was big.
".... But, this time, it's religious, the Quran offers two waiting periods, one, of three months, for the husband to reconsider his decision. Two, you are not required to know that."
I know what the second one is, and thank God Abbu didn't state it, or I would have drowned from embarrassment.
Ruhee's cheeks flushed thinking about the second condition and unconsciously looked at Aayan to see him looking else were, but she notices, a tint of pink on his cheeks, aswell.
Ruhee thought hard and finally decided.....
I didn't wanna say it, but I have no other choice.
"I am type - 1 diabetic, and have been for the past 12 years." Ruhee says, staring right at Sahma.
Sahma gives her a sad smile, and her eyes show sympathy.
Don't give that look, I hate it.
She turns to Aayan, to find him staring at her intensely.
"I know dear, your parents had informed me, but it's okay, we'll take care of you, don't worry."
Ruhee looked at Sahma and gave her a small smile.
No one said anything for a few minutes. Zubair and Ian just stood there listening silently, they had no clue what to say.
Ruhee thought hard on how she could protest more, but nothing came up to her. She looked at Aayan, to find him staring seriously at the ground.
How can I stay under the same roof with this annoying yet handsome human being?
"Ruhee, go pack your stuff, you'll be leaving tomorrow." Her father says.
Ruhee and Aayan look at him, then at each other, than back at their parents. "Tomorrow?" Aayan and Ruhee question at the same time.
"Yes, the sooner it is over, the better, right?" Her father says.
They both nod in understanding.
Yeah, the sooner, the better. But tomorrow?
"Great, then Aayan will come pick you up tomorrow evening at 5 pm. Okay?"
Sahma asks, almost excitedly.
They both just nod saying nothing.
Ruhee's father gets up to shake hands and hug Aayan, while her mother and Sahma hug happily. Ruhee just stands there, awkwardly.
Her father urges Ian, to come and hug Aayan. Ian awkwardly comes and hugs his boss or brother-in-law?
Sahma comes over to Ruhee and hugs her. Ruhee hugs her back, still confused by everything.
Aayan, the whole while, said nothing. While they were leaving, Aayan looked at Ruhee, and they just stared at each other before he left.
Ruhee went back to her room, sat on her bed, and just stared at nothing in particular.
When finally everything registered in, she let out a big exasperated sign and fell back on her bed. In reality, she wanted to scream, and thrash everything around, pull her hair and go all wild on her parents.
She closed her eyes.
Just three months, Ruhee.
She will go, stay with him at his house, try her best not to cross paths with him. Live for three months with him and she would never have to face him ever again. Ruhee signed and turned to her right.
What could possibly go wrong?
