《LILLIAN ✩》10 - Where Am I?

My eyes slowly open, awakened by the throbbing pain in my head.

Vision fuzzy, stomach aching, head pounding. I don't think I've ever experienced pain like this before.

"Esther?" My scratchy voice calls out, "Esther, help me. I'm scared. I'm dying."

I hear the sound of a door opening, "Esther. I'm so so sorry-"

"Calm down, Lillian. It's me." A familiar deep voice calls out and my stomach drops.

I gather all my strength to try and lift up my head, but as soon as I attempt the pain in my neck intensifies, "Ow." My eyes begin to water.

I'm only able to open my eyes, so I look around, "Where am I? The office?"

"My house." I watch as Mr. Grey sets down a glass of water and 2 pills next to me for my headache.

"I-I am so sorry. I can call Esther to come get me. I don't even know how I got here. God, I can barely remember anything after that first little glass."

He comes closer to me and places his hand under each of my armpits. Slowly and carefully, he lifts me up and leaves me sitting against the bed's headboard.

"I've already talked to her. You'll be staying with me for a few days."

"What?" I exclaim, but immediately regret it when my head pounds harder. I'm a homebody. I'll get homesick, I can't sleep in a house without Esther, "Why?"

He sighs while reaching for the pills, "On the phone, she said your father is out for a business trip..."

"He is?"

"Your mother went on a cruise..."

"She did?"

"And I offered to fly Miss Aird out to see her family in New Jersey." He finished.

"Y-you what?"

"Mhm." Mr. Grey hums and brings the 2 pills up to my lips,

I'm going to be staying here? Alone? With him?

I wonder if blondie lives here too.

Whispering to myself, I place my hand on my forehead, "How come nobody tells me anything?"

"Open." He demands.

I slowly open my lips while maintaining eye contact with him.

His eyes were trained on my mouth while he slightly stuck his fingers inside to place the pills on my tongue.

"Everything is sore." I try to mumble incoherently with the pills in my mouth.

He softly shushes me and brings a glass of water up to my lips,

"Do not swallow until I tell you to."

I nod and close my mouth on the glass, allowing a bit of water to enter.

I hold the liquid for a second while continuing to stare into his eyes. I'm sure the pills are already beginning to dissolve in my mouth, but I want to satisfy the man sitting next to me.

After a few moments, Mr. Grey whispers, "Swallow."

Immediately, I swallow the liquid and the pills.

"Good girl." He whispers.

"Thank you, Mr. Grey." I whisper back, "You're so kind. I can call some of my relatives and stay with them."

"I-I don't want to be a burden."

He brings his calloused thumb up to the corner of my lips and wipes away a drop of water, "Call me Klein. Mr. Grey makes me feel old. And you're staying with me. I have an office where you can work from here."

"Oh, okay." I lick my lips while staring at his, "How old are you, Klein?"

Klein inhales sharply at my actions. We both have eyes locked on each other's lips,

"Thirty."

A frown makes its way on my face, "You're not that old."

His face relaxes at the sight of my new expression, but he doesn't crack an emotion, "I'm not?"

"No." I whisper and playfully bite my lip.

Im under the covers sitting up, and he is sitting on the edge of the bed directly next to me. The only thing separating our legs right now is the fluffy blanket.

We sit there for a few moments, basking in each other's comfortable presence.

I wonder how it would feel to lock lips with his. To have my very first kiss with Klein Grey. That's something I'd never picture happening to me, Lillian Inez Heart.

I'm not like the girls he goes out with. I'm just a young, naive no life.

But, I shouldn't be imagining that. He's probably keeping me here so he has someone to do his work while he goes out.

"So, Esther is letting me stay here? That's surprising..." I trail.

Klein places his right arm on the other side of my sitting figure and shifts his balance closer to me, "I told her I have a guest house you can stay in."

"You do?"

"Yes, but-" he looks out the window at it, "It's being remodeled. You can sleep in this room for the next 4 nights."

"That nanny also threatened my life. I had to promise that I wouldn't touch you."

"Unless you asked me to." He finished huskily, "But, I didn't mention that part."

My sore eyes widen.

"Don't worry, Lillian. Miss Aird is coming with your stuff in around an hour before she leaves." He changes the subject quickly.

I could feel the anxiety begin to build up. 4 nights without mom, dad, or Esther?

I gulp, "Do you have my pills? I think I-I need one."

"No Xanax for a while, sorry." He frowns.

Gulping loudly, I raise my voice, "But, I need them! I can't live without them!"

"Lower your voice." Klein said sternly.

The action sent a familiar shock to my core and I put my head down, "Yes, Klein. I'm sorry."

"You're so good, aren't you?" He looks at me. Usually, he would place his hand on my face. Or lightly grasp my chin. I'm not sure why, but his usual actions are so comforting.

I place my small hand on his large one, grab it, and bring it up to my cheek, "Do I really have to ask you to do this now?" I lean into the touch, "I-I mean-"

His hand skillfully turns and interlocks with my fingers. He removes his touch away from my face and softly pins our hands together against the headboard next to my head.

"Needy, hm?" Klein leans in towards my ear, "It's only day one, sweetheart. Have patience." He whispers, which sends chills throughout my body.

What's that supposed to mean?

"What do you m-mean?" I ask nervously.

He quietly chuckles and unlocks our fingers against the headboard, getting up he begins to walk out the room, "Get ready. Your nanny should be on her way."

It was only then that I looked down and noticed I am wearing a large button up, black shirt.

Not just any button up—

The one Klein had on last night.

"Uh... Klein! Klein come back! I need to ask you something!" I yelled frantically as he was walking down the hallway.

"You begged for that shirt. Nothing happened." He yelled from the hallway.

I signed in relief and sunk into the bed. Trying to gather up all my thoughts.

Am I really going to be babysat by my boss for the weekend?
