《Mi Reina》Chapter Fifty Four - Ray of Hope

"Momma, can we goooooo?" Nico whined while I walked into the closet to choose an outfit.
"I still have to get ready." I replied. "We'll leave after that."
"Okay." He sighed and jumped onto my bed behind us in the room. For the past few days, we had been sleeping together so my bed was literally his at this point.
Coming to why I was all gloomy these days, it had been three days since Rico became unconscious. The doctors said that it he was doing really well after taking a few tests but they couldn't tell when he would wake up.
For the last few days, Nico and I have been living in the house alone. Toni, Callum, Julian and Isla came every few hours to check on us and spend time here. This place is much safer now; the number of guards have increased, the security system has been updated.
As for Adrian, he has been locked up in a cell at the warehouse while on the other hand, Devon was free. He came in and out and spoke to us but we still kept on high alert when he was around.
Now, Nico and I were going to the hospital to meet Rico. When I had told Nico that his father wasn't well and that he had to sleep so that he could get well soon, I made sure to leave out the part that would make him even more sad about the situation. He cried a little but became fine as soon as we took him to the hospital.
Like the house, the security was increased and every other patient was moved to other floors of the hospital to make sure that the place was even more safer.
After choosing a plain gray-like oversize t-shirt, I quickly changed into it as well as some cycling shorts underneath. Since the shirt was very long and reached mid-thigh, I wore it as a dress folded the edges of the sleeves to make it look a little edgier. Walking to my dresser, I decided to pair it with a long gold necklace and a matching bangle, tying my hair into a messy bun.

I looked at myself in the mirror and scanned my face, analyzing my features. My face was slightly red and blotchy, my eyes bloodshot, and eyelids puffy, all of which are a result from sobbing every night.
It wasn't only because I was worried for Rico'd health, but it was also because I thought of Adrian had treated me. He wasn't the person that I had known for the last three years, he couldn't have been. The person whom I trusted with my entire life. I still couldn't believe myself.
I wished that all of this was just some twisted dream. Or rather a nightmare.
And if something did happen to Rico, I don't know what I would have done. How I would live after that, it would be horrible. I love him so much and-
Wait, I said...love. I love Rico. I mean, why wouldn't I? He is the most loving and caring person I've met. He's the best father that he could ever be to Nico. Not no mention, he's smart, funny, respects my opinions, and most of all, he is a great listener.
I shook my head, dismissing my thoughts and put on some lip-balm. Grabbing my purse, Nico and I walked out of the room and to the car along with Ron, our bodyguard. Yes, Toni appointed a personal bodyguard for us for our protection.
"I'll help you, love." I told Nico as I saw him struggle to climb up to the bed so that he could sit with his father.
Placing my purse on the couch nearby, I went towards the bed and carried Nico's little body. I gently placed him near Rico's torso and sat by the chair placed right next to the bed.
I sat there for a while in silence, looking at Nico as he played with his father's hair.

Suddenly, Nico turned towards me with a look of confusion plastered onto his face. He crawled on the bed, towards me and sat at the edge of the bed.
"What's wrong?" I asked him, not knowing that his response would startle me.
"If you are my Momma and Dadda is my...Dadda, then why aren't you both married?"
I literally chocked on my spit at his question. This boy is four years old, how the heck does he know what marriage is?
"You love Dadda, right?" He asked another question.
"Honestly, I do." I smiled. "I don't know whether we'll get married someday or not, Nico, but all I hope right now is that Dadda becomes alright soon."
Just as I finished my sentence, I saw Rico's fingers twitch slightly. I ray of hope spread through me, content that he was waking up. I tried squinting to see better but to my disappointment, I didn't see it move again.
It's probably just my imagination... I reminded myself.
"I want him to wake up, Momma." He pouted. "I miss him."
"I miss him too, baby." I confessed, kissing Nico's cheek. "He'll wake up soon."
He nodded and leaned towards me a little more like he always did for the last few days, so I reached out and placed him on my lap, letting him rest on me.
He wrapped himself around me like a koala bear around a branch and not a while later, I heard his muffled snores and knew that he had fallen asleep. He had been awake with me for a few hours last night because he woke up after hearing me cry next to him.
I glanced at Rico again, taking in his features. It took every ounce of self control that I had to prevent myself from crawling onto the bed and shaking him awake but I knew that it would very inhumane of me.
I chuckled at the thought, imagining how the scene would look. Me on top of him with a grip on his shoulders trying to shake him awake. Nico would probably jump on the bed to help too.
"And I missed that laugh."

Looping, oh the fun! (Naruto)
Naruto and Sasuke are looping, and they're bored. They've already destroyed Konoha 15 times, taken over the world 15 times, gathered a harem 20 times and failed each time, joined ANBU 78 times, created their own villages over 30 times... What should they do now?For those of you who don't know what looping is, basically, it's time traveling done over and over and over again. Sometimes, it can also be dimension jumping (which appeared in my story). Something always triggers looping. Most of the time the trigger is death. If a character dies, he will wake up back in time. Do things, die again, and wake up back in the same time again. Or in some circumstances, wake up and find oneself in another dimension. See "Naruto Omake Files Innortal Style" for reference. Recommend Chapter 7 New Intros.
