《Mi Reina》Chapter Fifty One - Unbelievable

"She's waking up, Boss." Was the first thing that I heard someone say as I felt myself regaining consciousnesses. I tried moving my hands and legs but I couldn't because I felt like there was something holding onto them.
I opened my eyes, looking down at my limbs, I realized that they had been tied together by a rope around the chair that I was sitting on. Once my vision got clear, I realized that the chair I was sitting on, was the dining chair from the living room.
Then I remembered what had happened. The warehouse had been broken into and then, I came down here to help Rico because I heard sounds. Oh no...Nico is still in the panic room; he's probably afraid that none of us had gone to him.
As my eyes got adjusted to the light, I took in the appearance of my surroundings.
I lifted my head up and looked to my side, only to be met with the sight of a bruised and battered Rico. His t-shirt was now covered in blood and so was his face. Blood dripped from the tip of his nose down to his pants.
My hands ached to help him, tend to his wounds but as soon as I started struggling against the ropes, I felt a burning sensation on my wrists.
"Look who finally decided to wake up." A voice said which made my stomach drop.
I knew that voice way to well. It couldn't be him...I thought that my ears were deceiving me at this point.
It's the voice that I've been wanting to hear for a while; the person whom the voice belonged was someone special to me. I've known him for such a long time now and never in a million years did I even think that it would be him behind all of this.

I could feel someone's presence coming closer and closer to me by the second and when I finally saw the face, I felt a sudden sense of coldness taking over me.
I hadn't seen him in a long time and I had expected him to change a little, seeing that he had gone through so much...but he looked exactly the same.
His chestnut brown hair looked longer than it used to be, I could tell that he hadn't shaven for a while due to the stubble that managed to grow on his jaw. His ocean blue eyes were looking down at me with an emotion I couldn't recognize.
"It's you..." I breathed out, trying to control my anger.
"Of course, love." Adrian confirmed. "Who else would go through all of this just to make your fake family suffer?"
"Why?" The reason behind him doing all of this was all I wanted to know.
"Okay, so, I'll explain it for you since you seem to be a little...confused." He said, pulling a chair to sit in front of me.
I took this time to analyze my surroundings and try to find a way out of here. Besides Adrian, there were two other men who stood in the living room who were dressed in black attire and wore balaclavas. The same ones that I've seen on many people before.
My gaze shifted to Rico and I right now, I could only hope that he would wake up soon.
"He isn't going to wake up anytime soon if that's what you're wondering; don't have any expectations." Adrian stated. My heart rate increased as he said that sentence. What the hell did he mean by 'don't have any expectations?'
"He isn't dead...yet. I'm going to explain everything now, you sure you wanna hear this?"

When I didn't answer him, he continued anyway.
"So, I started working with Lorenzo about three months back, when I had come back to Spain from for Layla's wedding." He started, referring to his sister's wedding.
"Initially, I though that he was just a small gang leader but when I found out that he was the Don of the Italian mafia, I was shocked." He paused. "I didn't do much actually, just gave a little information about you to him and in return, I was promised something that I've been wanting for the last three years."
I was afraid to know his answer but I asked anyway, "What was it?"
"You." He replied, a dreamy smile plastered onto his face.
"Excuse me?" I was appalled by his answer.
"I love you, Cheesestick." He clarified.
Hold. The. Fuck. Up.
I was taken aback by what he just admitted because I could have never even guessed that he felt that way. But if I'm being honest, I kinda realize that now, It would explain why he wanted me to stay away from Rico in the first place. It wasn't because of my safety; it was because he didn't want me getting close to him.
"Don't you dare call me that. You lost the privilege of giving me nicknames the second you went against me." I narrowed my eyes at him. "Secondly, aw, but my hatred for you is even more truthful than your love."
"I'm not kidding." He stated.
"Oh I know, if only there was someone who loved you as well." I retorted.
He sighed, "I know that you love me too, but you just can't see it. Maybe one day you will realize and accept it. I will make you."
"You're the one who has been making our lives a living hell? Or was everything Lorenzo's work?" I asked ignoring the fact that his last sentence made me weak to my knees.
Good thing I am tied down to a chair!
Well, this is going to be really long conversation and all I can hope for is that I plan a way to get out of here. I wasn't too worried about myself at this point. Why? It's because Adrian said that he 'loves' me, jeez, that line just made mt gag.
Anyway, he said that has feelings for me so I can only guess that he wouldn't hurt me. I was mostly worried about Rico and most importantly, the little boy in the panic room upstairs.
I hope he's alright...
