《Mi Reina》Chapter Forty Five - Helicopter

Ricardo's POV:
"Fucking hell!" I run my fingers through the stands of my hair in frustration after getting off of the phone with Antonio and Callum. They told me the one line that I'd been dreading to hear hear all week.
That the three of us weren't safe here anymore.
Without wasting another second, I ran out of my room without bothering to put on a t-shirt along with the sweatpants that I had been wearing for the night.
Running to the kitchen, I saw Xia and Nico making breakfast together; she flipped the pancakes on the pan while Nico decorated them with chocolate syrup.
My girlfriend looked as beautiful as ever. Damn, I still can't believe that happened. She wore an olive green t-shirt paired with black jean shorts, her long slender legs on display.
Well, no biggie. It's not like she's killing me with her looks.
Walking into the kitchen, I kissed Nico on the cheek and whispered a good morning to him so that Xia wouldn't hear me. He smiled and continued pouring syrup on the pancakes.
Tip-toeing, I stood behind Xia and wrapped my arms around her waist, resting my jaw on her shoulder. She got startled at first but then wound her arms around the back of my neck, leaning closer to me.
"Good morning." I greeted her. "Callum and Antonio called a few minutes back. They said that we aren't safe here. Someone has been keeping a watch on the house for a while now. We're not too sure who they are but it's better to be safe."
I could feel her body tense in my arms, fear taking over her. It slipped my mind that I was used to this life but she wasn't. I want to keep her and Nico safe, safe from everything around us.

"Hey, don't worry. Alright?" I tried comforting her. "I won't let anything happen to any one of you. Nico and you mean the world to me and I could never let anyone hurt any one of you."
She turned around to hug me, wrapping her arms around my torso. "And who's going to protect you? Who will keep you safe?"
Kissing her forehead, I assured her, "I'll be fine on my own."
"Hey! I want kisses too!" Nico exclaimed, unaware of the fact that we would have to leave this house as soon as possible.
We looked at each other and smiled at his comment and went to towards him to shower him with love.
"Alright, eat breakfast and then we'll leave." Xia told me.
"Go?" Nico furrowed his eyebrows. "Where?"
"We're going back home, Nico." Xia replied. To be honest, I wasn't too sure where we
"Oh." He didn't ask or say anything further. Nico looked disappointed to leave and so was I.
I wished that we could spend much more time together...as a family. I was so glad that Xia was comfortable with Nico calling her a mother because she was perfect in every possible way and there's no other woman in this world who could take her place.
The three of us ate in a hurry and while Xia got Nico ready to leave, I made some calls and got the jet ready for us to leave soon after informing Antonio too.
As soon as we packed all of our things, we headed to the airstrip where the jet was.
Since Xia's parents left the island yesterday, it was difficult to ask the pilot to bring the jet here in time because he still had to do a little maintenance like refilling the fuel but he still did. He said that there was enough fuel to reach back to Spain so we would have to manage.

Once we entered the jet, I let Nico sit next to Xia knowing that he liked sleeping next to her. If I'm being honest, I did too. Sleeping with her in my arms was the best so I don't blame him.
In the middle of the flight, Xia woke up and glanced at me, probably wondering why I wasn't sleeping.
She moved forward and carefully Nico's sleeping form on the seat next to her's.
"What's wrong, Rico?" She asked, her voice laced with concern.
"Nothing, I'm just worried about those people who were at the beach house." I replied, honestly.
"Don't worry too much. Everything will be fine." She smiled but I knew better than to think that she was perfectly alright. I could see the glint of fear in her eyes but she hid it so well to the point where it seemed like it wasn't even there.
I nodded and smiled. She sighed and lifted her hands to her head to loosen the long ponytail tied to the top of her head. This small action of hers brought a memory to play itself in my mind, just like it had, the last time.
I thought of her. How she would always tie her hair up in a high ponytail because of the power she felt. The way that Antonio and I would tease her but all she ever did was tease us back.
How she would wear black heeled boots with spikes so that she could threaten us all day. We didn't realize that we were making memories with her, we were just having fun.
I didn't realize that the jet was facing turbulence until Xia shook my shoulder, pulling me out of my thoughts.
I unbuckled my seat belt, which is a very stupid thing to do, I know, and took a round in the jet, just to make sure that everything else was alright.
What I didn't take into account was the fact that this jet, in particular, wasn't bulletproof so using this one was not a great idea when I knew that we were in danger.
And before I could register what was happening, a black helicopter came closer to the jet and shot at it with a machine gun.

Rogue Dungeon: A LitRPG Adventure
From James A. Hunter, author of Viridian Gate Online and War God's Mantle! Check out my first attempt at a Dungeon litRPG Novel! Roark von Graf—hedge mage and lesser noble of Traisbin—is one of only a handful of Freedom fighters left, and he knows the Resistance’s days are numbered. Unless they do something drastic … But when a daring plan to unseat the Tyrant King goes awry, Roark finds himself on the run through an interdimensional portal, which strands him in a very unexpected location: an ultra-immersive, fantasy video game called Hearthworld. He can’t log out, his magic is on the fritz, and worst of all, he’s not even human. Now, he’s a low-class, run-of-the-mil Dungeon monster. Some disgusting, blue-skinned creature called a Troll. At least there’s one small silver lining—Roark managed the grab a powerful magic artifact on his way through the portal, and with it he might just be able to save the world after all. Unless, of course, the Tyrant King gets to him first …Hey everyone, so as most of you know, I write books for a living, and I just put this title up on Amazon (and enrolled it in KU). Because KU requires exclusivity as part of their terms of service, I have had to pull the majority of the content from this site. I left the full novel up for as long as possible, so I hope everyone got a chance to read it. If you haven't had a chance to read it in its entirety (sorry!) you can pick it up on Amazon. Thanks again for coming on this journey with me, and I so hope you enjoyed it. The book will be out on Tuesday July 24th. Best, James Hunter

For to stop is to die, and to die means he failed, failed himself and all those who still desperately need him.***The Author's Note:This is another in the Core series, the first one being The Wardens of Destiny while there is also a side story The Memoires of Eisen that's exclusive on Patreon for those who would like to support me.The Recordings of Raan occurs after the events in The Wardens of Destiny, and it's a separate thread from the main story. Among other things, I separated it into a new book as it has elements of progressive LitRPG and a fantasy-world setting.Since I'll keep on writing The Wardens of Destiny, this will be one of my side-projects. Eventually in the future, I plan to integrate some of the protagonists in this story with the main storyline.
