《Mi Reina》Chapter Thirty Nine - Majorca

I had almost chocked on my spit as Rico entered my room, all dressed up. He wore a dotted blue dress shirt of which the sleeves had been folded just around the elbows, leaving the first few buttons unbuttoned; the reason why the tattoos on his chest were easily visible and paired the shirt with white chinos.
His hair was a little tousled and I'm guessing that it is because he's stressed and when he is, he tends to run his fingers through his hair...a lot.
My eyes drifted towards his and let me just say that this butt-head has been raking all over me. So, I decided to try seducing him into telling me where we were going but that didn't go according to plan.
And now, the three of us; Nic, Rico and I were on the plane, no, sorry, private jet, to the destination that I don't know of just yet.
When I first entered, the first thing that I noticed was the smell, which was heavenly, might I add. It was a mixture of expensive leather and the signature scent of cologne that an aircraft normally has. The white seats looked sparkly clean, not a single stain visible to the eye.
The interior of the plane was looked so beautiful with the colors of white and gold. There were tables between the seats, adding to the exquisiteness.
Well, this jet just called me poor in all the languages known to man. Great!
Note the sarcasm...
I took a seat on the very soft leather seat and as soon as I did, Rico took a step forward, wanting to sit on the seat next to mine but the little four year old was faster than his father and managed to jump up before he could take a seat.

Rico looked disappointed but didn't make an attempt to move Nico and instead sat on the seat opposite. I smiled at him and he returned it, winking too.
Oh my! That smile.
"Xia?" Nico's voice called out to me. Averting my eyes away from Rico and to Nic, I saw the little boy hold the ends of the seat belt in his hands. "I need help."
"I'll do it." I said, fastening the seat belt and made sure that it wasn't loose. I did the same to mine and a few minutes later, the jet took off which made my ears block. So freaking annoying!
I never exactly loved airplane rides as a child and even now. I love traveling to different places, but not the plane rides so I normally slept through them. What a weirdo I am.
"So, how long until we reach?" I asked Rico, trying to figure out where we were going.
"Well, it's from Spain to-" He stopped himself. "I see what you're trying to do. I won't tell you, Xia. It's a surprise."
"Okay, fine then." I huffed.
"I'm hungry." Nico pouted.
"Alright, we'll call the flight attendant." I said, clicking on the button that would call the cabin crew from the overhead controls.
A minute or two later, a ginger-headed woman who looked like she was in her mid-fifties came over to where we were sitting and greeted Rico and I with a smile.
"Good Afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Ramirez! I'm Rhoda. How can I help you today?" She greeted.
"Oh, we're not-" I tried correcting her but Rico intervened.
"Good Afternoon!" He started. "We would like to order some snacks, if you wouldn't mind taking out order?"
So...he's not going to tell her that we aren't married?

"Sure, Mr. Ramirez." The woman said, taking out a small notepad from a pocket in her shirt.
After we ordered our snacks and ate them too, I rested my head back on the seat, ready to fall asleep but a small hand on my arm stopped me from doing so.
"Can I sleep with you?" Nico beamed. I chuckled at how adorable he looked right now.
"Of course you can, my little jellybean." I smiled and helped him unbuckle his seat belt. Almost immediately, he climbed over the armrest that separated our seats on onto my lap. Locking his arms around my neck while his legs did the same around my waist, he rested his head on my shoulder.
I wrapped my arms around his tiny body and just before closing my eyes, I took one last glance at Rico, who had already been looking at us, a smile plastered onto his face. I raised my head up a little, in a way of asking what was wrong to which he responded by shaking his head and smiling.
I laid to head back and closed my eyes, falling into a deep slumber.
I felt a hand shake me awake but like I would do on any day of the week, I ignored it. Then a voice spoke, "Wake up, Xia. The plane is going to land."
And that's when my eyes shot open. Although I wanted to sleep, the excitement of knowing where we were travelling to was more. I looked to my side and saw Rico sitting on the seat next to me, giving me a lazy smile. I smiled back and turned to the little boy who was still on my lap.
"We have to fasten his seat belt." He stated.
I nodded and woke Nico up by showering him with kisses. His eyes fluttered open, a smile making it's way to his face.
"Hey!" The man child exclaimed. "Why don't I get woken up like that?"
I chuckled at his childish behavior while his son grinned at him.
Rico stood up from where he had been sitting and picked Nico up from my lap, placing him on the seat next to me, fastening his seat belt. After doing the same for himself, he ran his fingers through his dark locks at an attempt to make it look better.
And let me just say, that made it worse which was why I let out a chortle. Knowing that the messy bun on my head would look even messier now. Unraveling the scrunchie that secured my hair, I retied it all while looking straight at Rico. For some reason, this seemed to have made him a little uncomfortable.
Okay, then.
"Daddddaaa," Nico whined. "are we there yet?"
"Well, technically, we reached our destination." He answered, making sure not to say the name of the place. "We're flying to the airstrip so it's taking time."
"Okay." He said, swinging his legs in excitement.
Wait. He knows what an airstrip means? Damn.
If he's excited, then that means that he probably knows where we're going. I really wanted to know but if Rico wanted it to be surprise, I wasn't going to ruin it. Plus, I'm going to know in less than a few minutes.
I'll just have to wait...patiently.

Our Shattered Realms
*This is a learning experience for me so please keep in mind that I am attempting to work on some of the issues brought to my attention early on. However I haven't yet gone back to redo the early chapters.* Less than two days ago every piece of electronics in the world stopped working for more than two hours. The death toll was immense. Hospital equipment failed, cars stopped in the middle of the street, planes fell from the sky, and homework was lost at the worst possible moment. We found out that it was just the flicker and hum of The System warming up. Now we see the true cost of our new world. A Dark comedy that focuses on a few of the many people who aren't stuck in a high level dungeon when our world is translated and joined to Our Shattered Realms. This is my first story that I have published. I welcome any criticism that you have for me. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy!
