《Mi Reina》Chapter Eight - Sick

Xia's POV:
"Here you go, one hazelnut and Nutella cheesecake for you....and one banana bread for you." I said, placing their respective orders in front of the old couple sitting at the table.
"Thank you so much, Honey." The old woman named, Amanda said.
"No problem, Ma'am." I smiled and walked back to the counter.
"So....are you coming to the club tonight ?" Adrian asked me as I entered the kitchen at the back of the shop.
"Oh, yeah. I'm down." I said, walking to where he was standing.
He was putting the vanilla buttercream frosting in a piping bag to decorate the batch of cupcakes that were in the oven behind him.
I slowly took the spoon for the empty bowl and licked the frosting off. "Mmm...that's really good."
"Hey ! I was gonna eat that !" He pouted.
"Oops..sorry." I said, completely unapologetic.
"Yeah right." He said, with a straight face.
I giggled at his reaction and collected all the remaining dishes that needed to be washed and placed them into the sink. As I was going to wear the apron, I heard a voice calling out my name.
I kept the apron back in it's place and walked out to the counter. I saw Antonio standing on the opposite side with both of his hands in his pockets; a worried expression plastered on his face. I wonder what's wrong.
"Hellooooo..." I dragged the word, making my presence known.
"Hey, Xia." He greeted but it didn't sound like he was actually happy. In fact, he looked a little gloomy.
I figured that maybe it was something related to the evening at the park and wanted to ask him what was wrong and comfort him but I was a little afraid.

Now that I know that he works with dangerous people and probably has a gun too, I didn't exactly want to annoy him by asking about his life.
He could literally kill me right here. But he wouldn't do that, would he ?
"Sooo...you want cookies ?" I asked him.
"Actually, I'm not here for cookies. I want you to come with me. I just want to talk." He said casually.
'Talk' my ass. Welp, there it is. I'm going to die. He is going to take me to the alley just around the corner and kill me. This is it. Well, it was nice knowing you all.
He chuckled a little. "Don't worry, Xia. I'm not going to hurt you."
I narrowed my eyes at him and said, "And I'm supposed to trust you, why ?"
"Because I'm still the same person who you spoke to for hours together and still your friend." He said, trying to convince me.
And let me tell you, I'm convinced. "Fine, I'll come with you." I gave in.
"Alright, then. Let's g-" He said but I interrupted him.
"But let me tell you that I know Kung Fu and will not hesitate to use you as my training dummy." I warned.
Antonio smiled and teased, "Damn, I can't wait to be attacked by a Tiny Temper like you."
Oh, he did not just make fun of my height. I'm not even that short; just 5'7. He had only a few more inches on me and couldn't be more than 6'1.
"Nicolas is not well and neither Ricardo nor I are free to take care of him. I know that you're not a nanny but you are the best option we have because he is not listening to any of the housekeepers." Antonio explained. "He keeps asking for you."

Me ? Without a second thought, I made up my mind to go there.
"I'll come. But, will Ricardo be alright with it ?" I asked, packing a few of Nicolas' favorite cookies.
"Really ?" He asked, surprised. I hummed and he continued, "Don't worry, he will be fine. You're helping him after all."
"Okay, hold on."
I walked back to the kitchen and saw Adrian licking the bowl of frosting. I smiled and he snapped his head to my direction and looked at me like a deer caught in headlights.
"I'm going out for a while and don't know when I'll be back." I informed.
"Okaayy...but where ?" He asked, worried.
"I'll explain everything later." I hurriedly replied and gave him a quick hug.
I took my purse from the locker behind me and left the bakery with Antonio. When we stepped out, he led me to his car.
Wow. A freaking Lamborghini.
"You like what you see ?" he wiggled his eyebrows.
"Damn!" I whistled.
"Looks like you do." He said and opened the passenger door. What a gentleman.
Antonio got into the car and minutes later, we were outside the same mansion that I had been in a week ago.
I took a while to gawk at the sight in front of me before entering the house because that evening I was too tired to do so.
My eyes widened when I saw the majestic structure in front of me. The word 'mansion' was an understatement for what I was looking at.
The Mediterranean Spanish-styled mansion was so stunning.
There was large garden in front of the house and in the middle of it was an exquisite marble fountain.
"Xia ?" Antonio's voice brought me out of my daze.
"Coming !" I said, and followed him to the house.
He spoke to the guards standing at the entrance of the mansion, "If this woman comes here next time, let her in."
The guards nodded and I smiled at his kind gesture. He trusts me.
When he opened the door, the sound of a child weeping could be heard. Nicolas' to be precise.
Without wasting another moment, I took my shoes off at the entrance and sprinted towards him.
I placed my purse and the box of cookies on the table opposite the couch and took a look at Nicolas.
He was laying down on the sofa, his body curled up in a blanket. I looked closer and noticed tears streaming down his face.
I crouched to his level and whispered, "Nicolas, what's wrong ?"
Listening to my voice, his eyes fluttered open and settled on me. "My tummy hurts."
"Do you want some soup ?" I asked, hoping he would want to eat.
He shook his head 'no' and mumbled, "I ate lunch already."
"Okay then, you want to sleep ?" I suggested.
He smiled and wrapped his tiny arms around my neck, just like he had done the first time a few days ago. Well, I guess he wants to sleep.
I wrapped my arms around his tiny body and carried him. He placed his head between my neck and shoulder while simultaneously wrapping both of his legs around my hips.
"Where's his room ?" I asked Antonio, who was still standing at the entrance.
"I'll guide you." He said, and I followed him up to the stairs.
