《VERDICT OF LOVE》Chapter 20

I laugh loudly" come on let me see his picture, " Emma says attempting to take my phone from me.
I am currently having a sleepover with Emma in her room since she thinks we don't spend time together anymore so I decided to spend this night with my best friend" wait let me search for his picture" I say scrolling through my phone for a picture of William which I took from his phone at the shop today.
I gave her the phone after finding his picture " he is good looking" she says laughing while staring at the device.
"He blushes when embarrassed, " I say laying on the bed with my hand resting on my belly making myself comfortable.
"This cute guy asked you out on a date?" she questions placing the phone on the nightstand emphasizing each word dramatically.
"Come on Emma, I said this before, this is not a date, we are just hanging out as friends and besides I would have declined if it was a date, " I say for the tenth time.
"Okay no need to be defensive," she mumbles sarcastically.
We both lay on our back on the bed, eyes directly focus on the ceiling watching the fan rotate while enjoying the solace of the night.
"Shiloh" Emma breaks the silence which was already guarding me to sleep "I have a question for you," she says calmly while I reply with a low yes suppressing a yawn " what if tomorrow when you wake up and find out all this was just a dream would you be happy or sad?" She asks tentatively.
I contemplate the question for a few seconds" it will be more of a lesson than a dream to me, and I would be happy because it will help me make better choices," I say counting each word with meaning.
"I have a question for you, " I say softly meeting her gaze" if you were in my shoes would you give up on Damian or fight for your love?" I ask reluctantly.
" I won't let him get rid of me that easily," she says in a serious tune" Shiloh don't you think it's time you stop making excuses?" She asks before resting her back on the headboard.
I stare at her in confusion" I don't make excuses except when needed" I say matter of fact.
She rolls her eyes at me with a sigh" I don't mean that way " she says pausing momentarily urging me to sit up which I did resting my back on the headboard.
"What am saying is...you should stop making alibis for everyone like the way you convince yourself your parents negate you, but believe it's for your interest or the fact you let Sylvia diss you, also letting Chance threat you this way after investing so much for this relationship," she says dolesomely staring at a blank space.
"I don't make justifications for anyone, " I declare umbrage.
I don't know what Emma is kicking out, I don't make alibis it's just the fact my parents treat me with respect and my sister cares while Chance is um.... following his heart.
" Shiloh you can't hide anything from me give up these games" she sighs closing her eyes for a few seconds before meeting my gaze " you keep on censuring yourself for their shortcomings. I know how you try doing your best just to get attention from your parents, and how you feel insecure with Chance, feeling you don't deserve him making you do anything just for his sake," she says sadly bringing tears into my eyes.

The tears roll freely down my cheek " what do you expect me to do? Should I act invisible or get angry?" I ask vehemently wiping my tears away.
"Why don't you try making a decision based on yourself, base on your interest not on someone else," she says with a warm smile.
I pulled her into a tight hug with my cheek resting on her shoulder " I love you so much Emma " I say sniffing with a smile appearing on my lips.
"Yeah, I know what can you do without my watchful eyes and intelligent self, " she says sounding cockily making me grin widely.
We broke from the hug with a grin on our lips " look she behaving all witty" I say pinching her cheeks gaining a slap on my hand.
" stop behaving childishly," she retorts going back to our previous position.
"It's funny coming from the girl younger than me," I say rolling my eyes before resting my back on the bed with a loud sigh since my back was already aching.
"By three months," she says with a glare.
It is funny a few minutes ago we were having a heated conversation but now already teasing each other" whatever makes you sleep at night " I mumble making myself comfortable on the bed.
"That should be Damien. Good night " she says facing away from me with a smirk on her lips.
Typical Emma never planning on losing an argument and always dramatic.
"Emma one last question," I say touching her shoulder getting a low yes from her" let say this is a movie do you think, I would be the character everyone wish she loses the baby of her lover just, to free him into having a happily ever after with the one he truly loves, which isn't her?" I question flicking my gaze towards her before staring at the ceiling fan.
"No, I think you would be the character everyone is deeply expecting to finally come to her senses to leave her lover, because he doesn't deserve such a beauty, leaving him to suffer from that new lover of his, and I would be the character everyone loves the most" she states turning to place her hand on my belly giving a side hug.
I close my eyes welcoming sleep with a smile on my lips and more relaxed because I didn't lose everyone I love.
I groan waking up to the sun shining through the closed windows, stretching my hand feeling for my phone on the nightstand, to check the idea of the time.
Finally reaching for it I bring it towards my closed eyes, tapping the screen it beams to life.
I blink my eyes open before closing to open it back again focusing my gaze on the confusing digit showing on the phone.
Finally focusing my gaze I stare at the time on my phone in shock " it almost 12-noon" I sigh getting up from the bed "no morning shifts today then" I mumble putting my disheveled hair into a messy ponytail before leaving towards the kitchen not forgetting to use the spare toothbrush in Emma's room.
As God may have it everyone was seated at the dining table having lunch not excluding Chance and Sam.
According to Emma, she spends more time here and as life may have it you can't avoid someone forever " Good day everyone " I greet making my presence known before walking towards the kitchen.
Since I had a goodnight's sleep waking up into this bright afternoon I decided to treat myself to a wonderful meal.

I dish myself a slice of Dutch Apple pie and cinnamon rolls before placing it on the dining table then walking into the kitchen to get a bowl of red strawberry with an apple.
I take a seat beside Emma and across from Sam getting a strange look from everyone "what?".
"are you going to eat all these?" Louis asks with his eyes flicking between the food then back at me.
"Yes, but it seems I am also having a craving for a bowl of strawberry ice cream with some waffles and two or three-pack of Oreos," I say with a wide grin gaining a surprised look from Louis and Damien.
I take a bite from the scrumptious Dutch apple pie before shoving Emma lightly on the shoulder gaining a glare "why didn't you wake me up?" I inquired ignoring her hard stare.
"Because I didn't want to disturb you and besides your shift is by 1:30," she whispers in a duh tone.
She is right, my body feels more relaxed and awake.
I continue with my meal before a specific someone just has to make an award-winning speech " Shiloh you were not at the engagement party " She says stating the obvious.
Don't get me erroneous I don't hate her but she is just too full of herself and so arrogant at times. speaking from experience " I am surprised you noticed" I say not even glancing her way while pouring myself a glass of orange juice.
"I just remembered you were absent seeing you entering into this room," she retorted with a smirk.
I sigh loudly "can you please stop babbling, my afternoon is going great and I really don't need anyone ending it for me, " I say calmly putting an end to this inane argument.
I continue with my meal laughing and chatting with Emma, Louis, and Damien while Chance and Sam just can't stop glancing my way which is so getting on my nerves.
Placing my plate in the dishwasher I make my way towards my room to get ready for today's endeavor.
I stand in front of the full-length mirror, the bags under my eyes look lighter, and I have added so much weight.
My face, arm, and legs look fuller even my belly keeps growing through these few months of pregnancy, I think I am about to blow up.
I roll my eyes at my fatuous thought before stripping off my clothes then walking under the shower.
I park across a restaurant making sure my eyes were noticing things clearly because just in front of the restaurant my Mum's car was parked with Taylor her personnel driver, standing beside the car, keeping a watchful eye for any danger.
After mulling over my options I step down from the car then cross the busy road towards the restaurant, but not before putting on my shade.
I kept my face down not wanting Taylor to notice my presence, entering the restaurant I locate Mum seating in her usual spot because she normally visits here once in a while to have lunch or meetings. I guess today is my lucky day.
I take a seat across ignoring the curious stare after all the popular restaurant is not met for someone dressed like me " Mum" I whisper with a grim smile gaining a bewildered look from her.
She looks just the same her dark brown hair beautifully styled and light makeup as always, I inherited my green eyes from her.
"Shiloh, what are you doing here?" She asks with wide eyes looking a bit scared.
I continue ignoring her question " I kept calling but it keeps going to your voicemail, you don't even reply to my calls Mum" I say sounding disheartened.
She sighs " I was busy with new ventures also dealing with new fashion labels and right now I am about having a meeting here a few minutes from now..."
I stare at her intensely with a scowl on my face as she explains her busy catalog " Mum! Mum!" I call cutting her long list of explanations " why are you doing this to me?" I ask with my voice cracking.
I can't believe she was doing these right now after not seeing me for almost four months " Shiloh I can't do these right now, okay" she says picking her bag before standing to leave.
I stand as well putting my hand together in front of my face pleading as tears run down my cheeks not caring about the fact people were watching our conversation.
"Mum please don't go. Okay just spend a few minutes with me, I have so much to tell you " I say my voice breaking with emotions receiving a blank stare from her.
I place my hand on the table before licking my lips " I am so confused right now with Chance engagement, this baby, my life" I say with a sigh while running my fingers through my hair " Mum I need you right now, I need your advice, I need you to tell me everything is going to be okay like you always do " I say pleading searching her eyes for any sentiment.
Her eyes showed guilt and regret" I love you, always remember that but you made this choice for yourself and there is nothing anybody can do about it, " she says with a sad smile.
Before I could reply, her phone chime " hello. yes. Meet me in the office we are having the meeting there" she says to the person over the phone leaving me standing.
I took my previous seat feeling defeated, I use the napkin on the table in wiping my face of any sign of ever crying before taking my leave.
Her car was still parked outside but I looked away making my way across the road towards my car, staring for the last time I drove off.
I parked the car beside the fuel station with a few cars passing by seating quietly staring blankly as silent tears run down my cheeks while my mind played the scene which happened minutes ago.
"Don't cry be strong for yourself and the baby, you can do this," I say repeating the same words before resting my head on the steering wheel letting my body quake with sobs.
My phone chime bringing me out of my world, I scramble for my phone in my bag.
I cough lightly to clear my voice from breaking before swapping the answer button" hello"
"Where are you?" William's voice asks coming through the speaker.
"What?" I ask a bit confused with his question.
"We planned meeting up today, " he says stressing each word.
I forgot about meeting William at the Egregious, I had to sign out early from the shop just to create time but I forgot after seeing mum " I am so sorry " I say apologetically" I am on my way now"
"Okay," he says hanging up.
I arrive there at accurately 25 minutes.
"Don't you think about it," I say pulling William away from my car since he thought it was a great idea to drive me home when he could just drive home with his friend.
I had a great time trying the different rollercoasters, William is a great guy he works close to the shop, and he is a co-owner of an electrical appliances company.
He has two older brothers and a sister and one younger sister, he even brought his friend Mark along who also is very funny and entertaining.
"Okay drive safely," he says.
I step into the car" I will. Bye, Mark and you too William" I say before driving off.
Stopping the engine of the car I walk into the house, it's nighttime already meaning the house should be quiet or they are either watching TV.
"Where have you been ?" Chance asks from behind me almost making me scream.
I turn around to meet his gaze " and it pertains to you, because?" I ask sounding calm.
"Answer my question, Shiloh," he says angrily.
I glare at him " I had things to do "
He takes a step towards me " you leave home early come back late so what have you been up to?" He asks, leaning towards me with his face so close to mine.
I suck in the air feeling my heartbeat increase with him this close to me "Nothing, just looking for a job to pay back for the car" I say smugly patting myself for coming up with a great excuse.
"I told you, you don't need to reimburse the money," he says before putting strands of hair behind my ear making my heart increase in speed.
Why is he doing this to me " why Chance, because I know you d..." before I could finish, he presses his lips to mine slipping his tongue into my mouth.
I stand still with wide eyes with his lips pressed on mine in a hungry kiss while his hand stays on my hair holding my head in place, and the other under my chin pulling my head up.
I kiss him back enjoying the feeling of his lips on mine as his tongue explores my mouth, I so much miss this.
We both pull back normalizing our breath, butterflies in my belly singing, and dancing for joy while my heart skips a beat.
I blink twice as reality pulls me back to the million ways why this is so wrong, not waiting for him to speak or sparing him a glance I walk away with my last dignity, because I really can't tolerate seeing the contrite look In his eyes or when he says the kiss we shared is a misstep.
