《My Brother's Best Friend》Chapter 49

Halloween had soon approached us and as the night grew colder I regretted choosing the costume I bought. Marissa stood besides me looking at herself in the mirror as we both finished up our makeup.

Her sexy zombie look was coming out better than expected as she touched up her dark eyeshadow.

I was finishing filling in my eyebrows when there was a knock on the door. I hadn't had my costume on yet so I was relieved when I saw Jax at my door with his costume on.

"Damn," I smiled. "You look..." I trailed off as my eyes scanned his body up and down. His paratrooper costume fitted him so good I was ready to jump on him. I held back from doing so as Hunter appeared next to him.

"Cat got your tongue?" Hunter said.

He stood besides Jax with a robin hood costume on. Over the course of a week they have been talking more. I was glad there was less tension around us and things were slowly going back to how they were before.

Jax and Hunter got kicked off the team and got suspended from school for a couple of days so that gave them things to bond over.

"You guys look good." I said, still eyeing Jax.

"Thanks," Hunter said. "Where are your costumes? Or is this makeup thing it? It looks pretty scary."

"Hey," I playfully smack his arm. "We're almost ready. We'll show you guys once we're done."

"If it's anything above your knees you're not wearing it." Hunter said in a serious tone.

"What do you expect her to be, a nun?" Marissa spoke.

"If possible, yes." Jax nodded along.

"Okay, shoo," I waved them off. "We'll come out once we're finished."

Rolling their eyes at the same time, they both walk out and Marissa and I went back to getting ready.

After we finished our makeup and hair, I took my costume out of its packaging and slipped it on. It was a one piece and zipped up the middle. My legs were exposed and my butt was just barely covered by the thin fabric.

Marissa gasped from behind me as she saw me in the costume. I clipped on the handcuffs Marissa had picked out for me to the side of my hip.

"Jax and Hunter are going to kill you." She giggles.

"Thanks for the support." I sigh. "I like it, though."

"You look sexy." She grabbed my hand and made me spin around as I smiled to myself in the mirror.

"With these?" I picked up my black boot heels.

Nodding, she goes back to setting up her costume. Once she finishes, I admire her leather skirt and ripped leggings she had on. Her crop top was distressed and had holes all over it.

She had blood dripping all over her legs and chest. Her makeup and hair was done messily but it suited her look. She grabbed her phone and took photos of the both of us posing in the mirror.

"Okay," I say grabbing my things. "Let's go."

The clacking of our heels slapping against the floor was heard throughout the house. As we entered the living room, Jax and Hunter were on the couch on their phones.

"We're ready." Marissa says.

Turning around, Jax's jaw immediately drops to the ground once his eyes land on me. His eyes scan my body with desire and hunger. I could feel his eyes on my legs as they roamed my body.

"Fuck no." Hunter spoke. "You're not going out like that."

"Come on, she looks amazing." Marissa defends.

"Jax, tell her," He tapped him. "She's not wearing that."

"Uhm." He continued eyeing me. "Yeah...w-wait what?" He looked away from me and furrowed his eyebrows at Hunter.

Scoffing, Hunter shakes his head and walks away from us. We hear the door close and Jax walks over to me. Marissa awkwardly walks away and tells us she's going to wait outside with Hunter.

"I should probably tell you to change." He says in a low voice.

"Mhm, maybe ." I shrug.

"You look so good." He says.

"You don't look so bad yourself." I reply. "I'm surprised you're not going to make me change."

"You're mine now. I know this is all for me." His hand trailed down my waist.

"Got that right." I winked.

His lips came in contact with mine and we moved our tongues in synch. He pressed his body against mine, gripping my sides.

"Can you guys hurry it up?!" Marissa yelled from the door. "I want to get there today."

Chuckling, I move away from Jax but not before he pulls me back in and gives me a peck.

We walk out of the house, hand in hand and get into Jax's car with Hunter and Marissa in the back seat.

"I can't believe I lost my front seat to you." Hunter shook his head in disbelief.

"Grow up, it's just a seat."

"It's my seat." He protested.

"Mine now." I said under my breath.

When we got to Justin's party, the party was in full swing. Everyone was squished inside dancing all over each other, cups scattered on the kitchen island along with the floor.

Marissa and I were waiting outside for Nick to get here while Jax and Hunter went off into the party.

We had left our jackets in the car which was a terrible idea seeing as it was a cold night. The air was so thin I could barely breathe and the coldness hit my body, causing me to hug my arms around myself.

People walked past us in all kinds of costumes. There were firefighters, vampires, other cops, and people with masks.

"Fuck," Marissa cursed. "It's cold."

"A hoe should never get cold."A girl said walking by us and going inside.

Marissa and I looked at each other with a shocked expression before bursting out laughing.

"Did she really just...?" I trail off not knowing how to even finish.

"Yeah." She laughed. Looking down the street, Nick's car came into view and he honked as he saw us.

"I'm going to go get a drink. You good out here?" I tell her.

"Yeah, go." She waves me off. "I'm going to wait until he finds parking."

"Okay, I'll be inside. Be careful." I carry myself through the crowd of people and make my way to the kitchen.

Opening the fridge, I grabbed a beer and opened it with the bottle opener that was on the counter. I took a sip from it, scrunching my nose at the sour taste.

"Budweiser is better." A voice says from behind me. Spinning around, I find myself starting into dark brown eyes.

His regular street clothes caught my attention immediately and I raised an eyebrow at him.

"Excuse me?"

He chuckles. "Budweiser? The beer? It's better than that crap you're drinking." He points to my bottle of Heineken and raises his beer to my face.

"Uhm, okay." I furrow my eyebrows.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you..or your beer." He puts his hands up. "I guess it was my way of trying to flirt with you."

"Uh, it's okay." I let out an awkward laugh. "Thanks, but uh, I have a boyfriend."

"I'm not surprised." He smiles. "A girl as beautiful as you deserves the world."

Chuckling, I bring the beer to my lips and take a sip. "I should go find him. He's probably wandering where I went off to."

"Hold on," he grabs my wrist before I could walk off. "What's your name?"

"Not interested." I say.

"Lovely name, really suits you." He jokes. Without responding, I drink again and look around in hopes of being able to escape him. "I'm just asking for your name, is that a crime?"

"Emma, it's Emma." I press my lips together.

"David," He extends his arm. "Lovely to meet you."

Shaking his hand, I lean against the counter as I watch people come in and out of the kitchen. I was hoping a familiar face walked in to save me from being alone with this guy.

I was starting to get anxious as he stood in front of me with a sly smile planted on his face.

"Nice costume." I said, sarcastically.

"Thanks," he laughed. "A classic James Bond."

"I don't think Bond would go out wearing that." I point to his beer spilled shirt and plain black jeans.

"A for effort, right?" He brings up his beer and waits for me to bring up my beer. "Cheers."

"Mhmm, cheers." I mutter.

"Come dance with me." He said.

I shake my head. "Not right now."

"What?!" He raised his voice. "Sorry, can't hear you over the music! Let's go!"

He grabs my arm and pulls me in the direction of the dance floor. Fighting back, I put my beer down on the counter and try to get out of his grasp.

"I don't really feel like dancing right now!" I said over the music. It became harder to hear anything around me as we neared the speakers.

"Come on, it'll be fun!"

"I have to go!" I try to pull away but his grasp only got tighter around my arm.

"She said no, man!" A familiar voice comes from behind me.

Turning around, I'm face to face with a familiar pair of light brown eyes. He stared at me intensely for what felt like minutes before he gets between David and I.

"Sorry, man she told me she wanted to dance." David holds his hands up in defense.

"Right," I hear him say. "You should go." He tells David. Nodding, he looks at me before pushing his way through the swarm of people and getting lost in the crowed.

"Alex." I finally say once he's facing me again.

"I get no thank you?." He grins.

"Thanks, I guess." My body tenses. "What are you doing here?"

"Nick invited me." He says over the music. "Do you want to go outside? We can talk better."

"I should probably go look for Jax."

Just as I said that, Nick points behind me and I turn around to see Jax standing not far from me with a cup in his hand.

He walks over to me and looks between Alex and I in confusion.

"What's up, bro?" Alex nods his head.

"Sup." Jax wraps his arm around my waist. Stepping away, I drop his arm from me and continue looking at Alex.

"Listen, I'll see you later." I lean in so he could hear me. "It was nice seeing you."

"You too," He hugs me. "Happy Halloween." He waves to Jax and walks away from us.

My eyes stay on him as he walks off into the distance and soon enough my view gets blocked by Jax's body. I look up at him to see Jax's jaw clenched and his grip on the cup tighten.

"What the fuck was that?" He snaps.

"What was what?"

"Don't act stupid," he shakes his head. "Why is he here?"

"It's a party, Jax." I state the obvious.

"Why were you talking to him?"

Shocked by the question, I grab a hold of Jax's hand and lead him to the kitchen.

The music was low enough from here to have a proper conversation with him and there was barely anyone around.

"Jax," I begin to say. "It's a party."

"Do you know how bad that just made you look?"

"He's my ex! It means nothing, I'm with you."

"How do you think you would feel if you saw me talking to Rebecca and as you touch me I move away." He questions.

"That's different."

"It's not and you know it."

"It meant nothing." I assure him. "Alex and I have been over for a while now and if you don't believe what I'm telling you then..then I don't know what to tell you."

He sighs, looking at the ground and runs a hand through his hair. "I don't like seeing you with anyone else, especially him."

"You have to understand I would never cheat on you or do anything to hurt you. You have to trust me." I bring my hand to touch his cheek. "I love you."

He smiled, looking down at me with his piercing blue ocean eyes. "I love you, too."

The rest of the night carried on to Jax and I dancing around on the dance floor and Hunter caught up with some girl he had just met.

Nick and Marissa were next to us dancing along to the music. I made sure Jax wasn't drinking anything but plain water as he had to drive us back home.

The night went along and soon enough the clock hit two in the morning. Jax, Hunter and I got home at three after we dropped off one of Hunter's friend and Marissa rode with Nick.

Stepping inside, I took off my heels and tip toed to my room. I was standing in my room in just my undergarments as the door swung open and in came Jax.

"Shit, Jax." I touched my heart. "I thought you were Hunter. I'm half naked, next time knock."

"I don't mind." He smirks.

Stepping closer to me, his arms wrap themselves around my waist and he brings me to his chest.

I got goosebumps being held under his touch and in a swift motion his hands found themselves inside my underwear.

"Jax," I moaned. "Hunter could walk in."

After teasing me for a couple seconds, he took his hand out and kissed my lips softly.

"I wish I could sleep here with you." He mumbled.

"I know." I wrapped my arms around his neck. "But you can't. Not with my dad and Hunter right upstairs."

"You're perfect, you know that?" He told me. I shook my head but he only nodded and kissed my cheek. "How did I get so lucky?"

"I'm the lucky one." I say.

Just then, a knock is heard from my door and Hunter calls out for Jax.

"I'm coming." He said loud enough for him to hear.

He stared into my eyes and grinned. Moving a strand of hair away from my face, he kissed my cheek once more and pulled away.

"Goodnight, princess."
