《My Brother's Best Friend》Chapter 3

I wasn't sure how many shots I had taken, but I couldn't even see straight. I could barely stand up straight, so as I leaned against the random stranger besides me, I was smiling to myself. I felt so happy in this very moment I wished it would never end.

I had lost Nick a while back as he went to look for Marissa and never came back. I hadn't seen Hunter all night and Jax was across the room sipping on a beer as he watched me carefully. I couldn't really tell if he was checking me out or the guy next to me but either way I felt amazing.

My vision started becoming blurry before I felt my face slam to the ground, landing with a loud thump you could even hear over the pounding of the music.

"Emma, hey open your eyes." I hear a familiar voice. "Are you okay?"

I slowly open my eyes, trying to make out the figure standing over me. I couldn't help but smile to myself as everything became so bright around me, almost like stars were everywhere.

"Everything's so pretty." I giggle to myself.

"Alright, time to go." I feel myself being lifted from the ground.

"Jax? Is that you?" I ask, coming out in a whisper.

"Yeah, it's me." He says. "How much did you have to drink?"

"I don't really remember." I laugh. I swing my feet as I lied on his arms. My own arms were dangling besides me, letting all my weight down on him. "Am I heavy?"

"A little." He laughs.

"Hey! Are you saying I'm fat." I pout.

"You're far from fat, Emma." I felt a breeze on my face and as I picked my head up I noticed we had made it outside.

"Can you let me down?" I say. Suddenly, I started feeling my stomach grumble. "I don't feel too good."

The moment my feet hit the ground I felt all my insides spill out. That wasn't the worst part, though. I opened my eyes, wiping the tears away along with my mouth and looked up to see Jax clenching his jaw.

"I really needed that." I let out, leaning against him.

"Your cleaning my shoes tomorrow. I don't care how hungover you wake up." He spits out.

"Payback." I smile to myself.

"For what?" I feel his body vibrate as he talked.

"When you threw up on my bed." I laughed. "Karma's a bitch, isn't she?"

"Yeah, something like that." He shakes his head. "Lets go." He pushes me off, grabbing a hold of my waist.

"What about Hunter?" I ask, barely able to keep my eyes open.

"He's getting a ride with a friend of ours." He says. "Did you eat anything today?"

"Just breakfast." He opens the passenger door, letting me in before closing it.

He makes his way to the driver side, buckling his seat belt before starting the car. "That's all?" I nod. "Jeez, aren't you like always eating?"

"Wow, thanks." I joke.

"You know what I mean." Putting the car in drive, he takes off down the block in the opposite direction of my house.

"No, actually I don't." I say, offending.

He ignores my comment and turns on the radio, blasting whatever music was playing. I reach over, putting down the volume as I had already felt enough pounding in my head.

"My head hurts." I complain.

"Are you hungry?" He yet again ignores me.

"Not really. I don't feel too good." I lean my head against the window.

"If you need to throw up tell me. Your brother will kill me if I let you throw up in his car."

"I can't go home like this." I say, swallowing any taste of throw up I had in my mouth.

He sighs and from the corner of my eye I see him run a hand through his hair. He only ever did that when he was stressed out. I was causing him stress and as much as I felt bad I kind of was enjoying myself.

"You can stay over my place. I'll text your dad and Hunter to let them know." He says.

This wouldn't be the first time I had slept over his house. I had slept over plenty of times with Hunter before and my dad never seemed to mind seeing as he's known him so long and trusted him. Although, it would be the first time I was sleeping over without Hunter.

"Are you sure? I can just stay over another friend's house." I say.

"Don't be stupid," He says, pulling into a Mcdonald's parking lot. "You don't even have friends."

"I said I wasn't hungry." I push the tray away, trying to hold my breath in.

I lay my head down against the table trying to stop the pounding in my head. I couldn't stand looking at Jax shove food down his throat while I felt chunks of vomit in my throat.

"You have to eat something." I hear him push the tray back towards me. "Tomorrow will be worse if you don't."

Ignoring him, I stand up from my spot in the booth and walk over to the bathroom. I ignored the aching pain I felt with every step I took. The heels I was wearing had my feet feeling like they were about to fall off at any second.

Opening the door, I look over to the mirror, groaning at the sight in front of me. My eyes were swollen, makeup was under my eyes, and my lip stick was only on the corners of my lips.

Turning on the faucet, I splash the cold water on my face, rubbing my eyes to take off any makeup I had left. I grab the paper towels that were next to me, drying my face and taking one last look before leaving the bathroom.

"You ate my food?" I say, as I sit back down. I watched as Jax put the last chicken nugget in his mouth.

"You made it clear you weren't hungry." He shrugs. He wipes his hands on the napkin besides him before standing up and grabbing the tray.

I follow behind him as he makes his way out, holding the door for me.

"Thanks." I say in a low whisper. We walk in silence to the car, getting in and making our way to his house.

"Has your brother texted you?" He says moments later.

Looking down at my phone I realized I had three missed calls from my brother and a message from Marissa.

Marissa- Haven't seen you all night. Are you still here?

I text Marissa back letting her know I had already left and was spending the night at Jax's. As I hit send I decided to call Hunter back to let him know I was okay.

After calling back twice and not getting an answer I gave up. I sent him a text letting him know I was with Jax before turning off my phone.

"Have you talked to Hunter?" I look over at Jax who was looking down at his phone while he waited for the light to turn green.

"No he's not answering but I left him a message to let him know you were with me. I texted your dad too." He said.

"Are we almost there?" I ask, my eyes closed as I leaned my head on the window.

"Yeah, two minutes away." He says. "Just don't fall asleep I don't want to have to carry you inside."

I let out a weak chuckle, feeling myself start to drift to sleep. "I've never been more awake."
