《The Heartless' Heartbeat》#12. His Rage

Ermanno and Rosalia are going to attend a party...
But what’s a party, without a little drama? Right?
There are chances for grammatical mistakes.....
🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂
As the evening arrived, Francesca informed me that Ermanno had booked a beautician for me to help me get ready for the party.
After I wore the dress Ermanno had sent me, she did my make up. She did not apply much, just accentuated my natural features and applied a deep shade of red lipstick. For my tresses, she pulled some of the front portion into a puff and left the rest of them open, which she curled from below. I then, wore the diamond set gifted by him.
Lastly, I wore my heels and took my clutch. I was ready. I peeked into the mirror to assess my look. I was not able to belive that I could look so good. I thanked her profusely for her contribution to which she just waved her hand.
After she had left, I went to the living room to wait for Ermanno. As the time was nearing for the party, I was feeling so many emotions rushing through me, nervousness and fear were the most prominent ones.
I would be introduced as Ermanno's betrothed in front of the world, and it might slim my chances for escaping.
What was I thinking while making my own plan harder?! Oh yes! I tried to be kind and save Ermanno from his nonno.
Stupid, Lia!
He could have found a way to escape his wrath. He had spent all his life under his care, he must be knowing how to handle him. Besides, he was giving me a chance to ditch the party. But I had to play the role of a kind person and return the favour.
I had dug my own grave while becoming a big-hearted. Now, I had to reap what I had sown.
My thoughts were interrupted by the loud honk of the car, and I knew at that instant that he was there to take me. My heart rate suddenly sky rocketed and my palms felt clammy. I gulped the lump forming in my throat and started fidgeting on my place, as staying still had become a challenge for me.
Hearing the sound of leather hitting the marble, I turned in that direction and my eyes caught the sight of the most handsome man they had ever witnessed.

Ermanno stood there wearing a navy blue tuxedo, looking as regal as ever. Handsomeness was oozing out of him. His eyes were trained on me assessing my looks. A look of appreciation crossed his features.
His continuous gaze was making me nervous, so I lowered my gaze to my feet and tucked the loose strand of my hair behind my ear. I started fidgeting with my fingers in nervousness, not knowing what to do.
Finally he spoke after what seemed like forever, "You look stunning."
His compliment made my heart race, but that time, the reason was different and I liked the feel of it. I felt my cheeks heating up to certain degrees as I shyly mumbled a 'thank you'.
He strolled towards me and mumbled, "Così adorabile, così innocente."
(So adorable, so innocent)
I didn't understood a word he said and gazed up at him questioningly. He simply shook his head at me while a charming smile was all the time gracing his lips. He then looked at me seriously and spoke, "Don't leave my side at all. There are many dangerous people who could use you as a bait to trap me."
I looked at him with fear filled gaze to which he assured me, "Just be at my side all the time, no one would dare to even think about harming you. You don't have to worry about anything."
I didn't knew why, but I trusted his words and nodded at him with a small smile of my own. He, then, forwarded his hand for me to take and I placed my left hand in his as I was holding my clutch in my right hand.
As soon as he held my hand, he all the relaxed and happy mood flew out of the window and he clutched my hand tightly in a death grip. I yelped in pain, but he didn't acknowledge it. Instead, he was glaring daggers at my hand with his cold, murderous eyes.
He then, furiously shifted his gaze towards me, and I was sure that if looks could kill, I would be buried deep into the soil by then. He asked in a bone chilling voice, "Who put the ring in your ring finger?"
It had totally slipped my mind that he would be furious after seeing it. I didn't had the courage to answer him, so I simply stared at him, practically shaking from the inside. I was wishing to disappear from the face of earth at that moment to escape his wrath. But, my wish was only a wishful thinking.

His voice boomed throughout the living room, "Answer me!"
I stuttered fearfully, "M...My bo...boyfriend."
He asked in astonishment, "You have a boyfriend?!"
I meekly nodded at him. It seemed it had triggered something inside of him. He grabbed me from my arms and shook me, asking in a menacing tone, "Why was I not informed about it?"
I didn't had any voice left in my throat to come out. My mind went completely blank in terror. He released me with a jerk and grabbed my hand in his vice grip and pulled out the ring from my finger inhumanely.
He glared in my eyes and spoke, "You have not told me about him, and now you don't need to. Because you are not going to meet him again. Hell! You are not allowed to even think about him. It would be good in both of your favours."
He then threw it out of the window and I didn't had the courage to stop him. It was the only remembrance of Albert I had. And he threw that away too. And me being a coward, didn't take any stand for myself.
He then coldly declared, "You should remember that you are betrothed to me. And having affair would be labelled as infidelity. And I won't tolerate it ever. I will kill you for betraying me, because the most loathsome thing for me is betrayal, and I don't forgive traitors ever!"
He levelled his face with mine and threatened me, "And you know what I do with the traitors? The same I did with the man down there, in the basement."
And it was enough to stop my breathing, for a moment. I knew that he was not kidding. I had forgotten his true face after seeing some of his kind gestures. I was so wrong to assume that he could be kind and compassionate.
He was a monster!
And monsters don't have a heart to love, or care, or to be kind or compassionate.
He then grabbed my wrist roughly and started dragging me outside, like a chained animal. When we reached his car, he opened the passenger seat and literally threw me inside. He slammed the door and came around to take the driving seat.
He started the car and drove it at a very high speed. I was afraid of high speeds, but I didn't dare to tell him to slow down. I didn't had the courage to speak anything to him. I didn't want to hear his yellings anymore.
Who knew what could trigger that crazy man and he would begin raining scoldings on me again?
I had a life before I got to know about all that chaos of betrothal. So, how could me having a boyfriend be infidelity to him? If it were upto me, I would have refused to even take his name, but my fate had to torture me and tie me to him instead.
It was my own fault for trusting him and now it was hurting me. My first assumption about him was correct. He was not worth being my life partner. He was just like his grandfather, cold and monstrous, who only knew how to order around and punish those mercilessly, who defied him.
He was ''il diavolo' for crying out loud!
A Mafia King!
He could not have earned the title by being a gentleman. I was foolish enough to fall for his traps. But it was the last time. Because I vowed at that moment that I would never give in to his fake acts ever again.
One lesson was enough for me to last a lifetime!
