《What's Your Diagnosis, Doc?》Chapter 69 - Help and Together

I spent most of the next two months with Mabel. I wasn't showing yet, which was good, because I didn't want May to know about my pregnancy yet. I helped her out with everything, I was over at her place with Lily every single day. We got Theo's sperm sample along with a few extra just in case and we stored it, hoping that there would be some healthy sperm in at least one of those samples.
Every day I spent with her and Lily, making sure her stress levels were under control and that she wasn't pushing herself too hard. I was there for all the pills and the injections and the difficult moments where she just wanted to break down. But we pushed through.
Eventually, the time came for us to go in to the hospital to get her eggs collected. The doctor handled the fertilizations and after about three days, Ava and I were back at the hospital for the embryo transfer. After the transfer, I gave her estrogen and progesterone every single day without a single delay.
After about two weeks, I got her to take a pregnancy test on the first date that she could see a positive pregnancy test result. She was so nervous. She was shaking like crazy.
"Come on, May... you're gonna be ok." I said to her.
"If it's negative, I won't be able to handle it." She said, her eyes filling with tears.
"Don't you trust me and my hard work, May? Come on, dude. Take the test." I said to her.
My use of the word dude, which was usually her thing made her smile at me before getting up to go take the test.
She nodded to show her determination, going into the bathroom and finally peeing on that stick. She came back and she sat beside me with the test in her shaking hands.
"Lily, Darling, go call uncle Theo." I said to my daughter.
Lily ran off and went to go get her uncle. Theo came back with Lily on his shoulders and he saw the test with Mabel. He paled slightly and sat down, setting Lily down on the ground in front of him. He took Mabel's hand and he kissed her forehead.
"None of this is your fault, Mabel... ok?" He asked her. "If this comes out negative. It's fine, we can adopt."
Mabel shook her head, tears falling from her eyes.
"No, Amore... that's not fair. It's not your fault either. It's not." She sobbed.
"I know, May... we're ok though, baby. There are little ones everywhere around us. We can even adopt a newborn baby if you'd like." He told her.
"No. I want to carry our kid. It's possible... I know it is... I want to." She cried.
"May. Calm down. Please." I said gently, rubbing her back.
I took the test from her hands.
"Set this aside for now, and just take a few minutes to relax." I said to her.

"Momma. You take one." Lily said, handing a pregnancy test to me.
"Why would you take one?" May asked me.
"I have been feeling like I might be pregnant. I've missed a period." I said to her, which was true, only that I'd missed two not just one and I knew I was pregnant already.
"Wouldn't it be nice if you and Mommy were pregnant together, May?" Lily asked her.
"Yeah, that would be amazing." May smiled.
"Maybe I can take it later. Not now... now we'll just see if Aunt May has a baby in her belly." I said to Lily.
"No. It's ok... at least there might be some good news if you are." May said to me.
"Are you sure?" I asked her.
"I'm sure." May nodded and Theo smiled at me.
"Alright. I'll go take one." I said, going into the bathroom and getting ready for some really emotional reactions.
I was pregnant, I knew that and so did Lily. But I didn't know if May was. I really hoped that one of the two embryos we transferred would survive. There wasn't a reason for them not to. I'd made sure that everything was perfect every step of the way and I felt like Mabel was going to get the family she wanted. I definitely hoped that she did. While I felt like there was a huge likelihood of May being pregnant, she seemed to think otherwise.
After taking the test, I went out to the living room to find Lily in Theo's lap, her hand was laying on May's belly and she was smiling.
"Aunt Mabel, be happy. There's a baby in here." Lily said.
"There might not be, my love." May said, kissing Lily's forehead.
"But there is! I know there is, Aunt May. You just need to trust me like you trust Mommy. She has doctor magic, didn't you know?" Lily asked.
"Well, this problem needs a lot of hard work, honey... and it needs lots and lots of magic... we don't know if any doctor has enough doctor magic for this." May said to her.
I walked over and sat down. Lily sighed and picked up their pregnancy test, handing it to Mabel.
"Wait. Did I ever tell you the story of how Mom and Aunt Hazel found out they were pregnant with Vidal and I?" Theo asked.
"No." May said, shaking her head.
"They both woke up and they were both sick to their stomachs. They both decided to take some pregnancy tests and they looked at each other's pregnancy tests for each other." Theo said.
"Because they were nervous, I assume." I nodded.
"Yeah." Theo chuckled.
"Alright. Let's do the same." May said, giving me her pregnancy test and taking mine.
"You and Lily will check mine and Theo and I will check yours." May told me.

I nodded and pulled Lily into my lap.
"Ready?" I asked her.
She nodded, her eyes more focused on me than anything. She didn't want to miss any detail of my reaction.
"Alright. One... two... three... flip." I said.
I flipped Mabel's test over, my heart pounding in my chest and my eyes immediately filled with tears. Lily screeched loudly and covered her hand with her mouth.
Every single moment of being a doctor, all the times I'd cried over things at work, all the countless emotional days in the clinic and in the hospital. None of them even came close to how overwhelming this was. All I wanted to do was cry. My sister had been through so much pain, so much hurt, and so many horrible feelings and she deserved none of it. Both Theo and Mabel had been through so much and I just couldn't believe how strong they were.
But now, it was time to celebrate. Because my sister was pregnant. IVF had worked for her for the first time out of three attempts. And I'd be damned if I let anything go wrong with her pregnancy.
"What... what, Ava? What?!" May said desperately.
"What was my result?" I asked her.
"You're pregnant... congratulations, Ava." She said, her eyes filling with tears.
"Well... Get ready, Mabel. Because there are two pregnant women in this house. Congratulations!" I said, rubbing her back and handing over her pregnancy test. She looked down at it, her eyes wide and her tears falling like waterfalls down her pretty face.
"Yay!" Lily screeched, jumping off my lap and bouncing up and down in excitement.
Theo's face was hidden by his hands, his shoulders shaking as he cried. Mabel hugged him tightly, crying into his shoulder and handing him the pregnancy test. Both of them were more emotional than I'd ever seen two human beings.
"But it could still go wrong..." Theo suddenly said, making them both look back at me.
"So negative." Lily huffed, rolling her eyes and making us all laugh through our tears.
"So could my pregnancy. But I'm not going to let it happen." I said to them.
"So.. do you think we can announce it to everyone?" May asked.
"Yes. But you better not be doing anything other than resting, eating and using the bathroom. Got it?" I asked her.
"Got it. Your word is the law." Mabel said, smiling at me and leaning over to hug me. "God, how did I get this lucky? I love you so, so, so much! Thank you!"
"Aw, I love you too! And there's no need to thank me... I'm just trying to get myself some more nieces and nephews." I chuckled. "Ready to do this together?"
"I'm so ready!" She laughed. "But... did you already know that you were pregnant?"
"I did, so did Lily." I chuckled, looking over at Lily.
"I just wanted Aunt May to feel like there was someone that would be with her in everything with her new baby. I knew May was gonna be pregnant, I knew it!" Lily said.
"Aw, my little munchkin!" Theo growled, getting up and grabbing Lily, throwing her up in the air and catching her.
"I love you, Uncle Theo. You're gonna be a Dad!" Lily giggled.
"Yup. And you're kind of going to be an Aunty..." He said to her, kissing her cheek.
"Because you're actually my cousin." Lily laughed. "So I don't even have to call you Uncle Theo. I can just call you Theo."
He laughed and nodded, kissing her cheek.
"This is awesome! A niece or nephew and a sibling... they're gonna drive me crazy, aren't they?" Lily asked.
"They sure are." Theo said with a laugh.
"Oh my God! Thank you so, so, so much!" May said again, hugging me tightly.
"Oh, don't act like you're done with me. I'm going to be over here every single day to give you your medication." I said to her.
"More medication?" She asked.
"Yup. You're going to continue it. And we have trips to the hospital and regular tests to do, ok?" I said to her.
"Yeah... do we have another schedule that you can send me for this month?" She asked.
"Yes, of course." I nodded.
"Perfect. Thank you." She said to me.
"I'll send it to you when I get home. Now, Lily and I have got to go... you two take care, ok?" I said to them.
"Thank you!" Theo said.
"Oh, don't worry about it, bro. I told you... I've got my own motives here." I laughed, hugging him tightly.
He chuckled and hugged me back
"Now just for the record, you can do whatever you want in bed, just be gentle... very gentle." I said to them. "And if you question whether it's safe or not... maybe just hold off until the end of the first trimester, ok?"
"Ok." May said, turning red as I turned to leave.
"Congrats again to the both of you." I said, feeling so damn happy for them.
I went home and I informed Gabe and sent the schedule off to May so that she knew what was coming.
Time flew by after that. Mabel's pregnancy was pretty perfectly. All the tests we did came back positive, she had some spotting which was normal, even though it freaked her out a few times. We both told the whole family together and had our parents on facetime so that they knew as well. I was so happy, mostly for Mabel and Theo. And I was glad I had a pregnancy buddy.
We both drove Theo and Gabe insane, but they happily dealt with it. We spent so much time with the other girls, it was so fun. All of us were so excited. We started looking at baby names and trying to pick some out. And we both had a baby shower together.
We basically did everything together for the entirety of our pregnancies and it was great. It brought me and Mabel so much closer and I just knew that our babies would be really close too.
