《Hot Chocolate》chapter seventy-two, boutique.

I finished getting dressed and left not long after Camila did. I drove down the street, mentally planning tonight and what I'll do, or say. There's only a couple things that could possibly go 'wrong', but I'll do everything in my power to make tonight perfect.

I pulled up outside of Dad's house. The thought of bumping into him scares me but I need to get some of my things.

A massive weight lifted off my shoulder when I noticed his truck wasn't there, and I managed to get inside with ease.

I grabbed my old gear bags from under my bed and started to fill them with the rest of my clothes and anything I'll need for the week. As much as being Camila's neighbour was the best thing that ever happened to me, I can't live here anymore. Not with him.

After filling a few bags I headed back down stairs, noticing how nothing has moved place - not even the cutlery on the dining table or the empty glass beside the sink.

I opened the fridge and found a bit of out-of-date food, but that's it. Dad hasn't come home.

Something like that should worry me, but considering where we left off, I'm not too upset. I grabbed my bags and locked the door behind me, not knowing when I'll be back again.

I tossed the bags in my trunk and pulled out my phone.

*How's it going?*

*Great, just got my outfit.*

*Can't wait to see it ;)*

*On me or the floor?*

*both.*

A few texts with Camila was enough to lighten my mood. I pulled out of the driveway and headed down the street back to Mom's house.

I ended up taking a detour. I made my way into town, pulling up on Main Street. The bell above the pink door rang as I stepped into the small store.

"Hello there, how can I help you?"

"He took me out of town, to this village- near where Aunt Sarah lives."

Zoe took me step by step through her Friday night while we sped down the highway towards the shopping mall.

"We went to this fun fair in a massive field, but not like a carnival one with screaming kids and clowns and circus music, it was quiet and had a few rides and those mini stalls of old people selling crystals and tarot readings, oh and those games where you can win teddy bears."

I sat back and listened to her tell me all about how romantic it was and how sweet her date was, but this time I didn't even feel a hint of jealousy or envy, I was just happy for my sister, seeing the way her face lit up and the way she bit her lip and said "Mhm, I shouldn't tell you what he said after that."

"And we went back to his place and oh my god is his flat nice. Like super clean and simple and fancy looking. The smell was immaculate and his bedroom was so nice and masculine..."

She didn't stop rambling, even when we pulled up in the underground parking lot. "He literally bent me over his kitchen island. On the second date."

We hopped out of the car and she finally let me get a word in, which I used to make fun of the way her legs shook when she walked. "You okay there, Zo?"

"Mhm." She nodded, trying to play it cool. "Right, let's go buy you a sexy ass outfit."

We shopped around three different boutiques but all we found were dresses for Zoe and a cute purse.

"So- do you know where you're going tonight or did he not tell you?"

"Just 'out for dinner' was all he said, why, do you know where?"

"Maybe." She smirked. "Oh my god, what about that one?"

Zoe pointed to a mannequin in the shop window. "That blue would look so good on you..."

I zoned out from what she was saying, not even looking at the blue dress, because it was the one beside it that caught my eye.

We rushed into the shop, giggling like kids while we asked the woman working there if she had my size in the dress.

"You try that on, I'm going to look for shoes to match."

Zoe disappeared and I thanked the assistant before going into one of the slim changing room. I peeled off my clothes, groaning when I realised wearing lace up converse was a terrible idea. I finally got them undone, dropping my clothes into the seat beside me while I took the dress off the hanger.

I pulled the strap over my shoulder, smoothing it down before turning to the mirror. Wow.

The deep scarlet fabric clung tightly to my upper body. The v-line showed just enough cleavage to look hot, but not to revealing. The thin straps crossed over at back, leaving a lot of skin on show. The skirt was flowy but ended above my knees.

The only fault in the dress I could find was the fact that it showed the purple and brown bruises from last night. But hey, nothing a bit of makeup can't fix.

"Camila?" Zoe called.

"Second changing room."

There was a knock on the thin door before two pairs of heels slid under the door, both similar styles just different colours.

I slipped a black shoe on my right foot and the silver on my left. I twisted the lock on the door to show Zoe my outfit, and by the gasp and smile on her face, I knew this was the one.

"Silver. To match that purse and your jewellery."

"You think?"

"I know."

We made it to the till and I paid for my clothes, carrying the white bag out of the shop in one hand while I pulled out my phone with the other.

Dory ~ *How's it going?*

*On me or the floor?*

*Both.*

*What time?*

*Seven.*

"What are you smirking at?" Zoe sat on the bench outside the shop with her bags at her feet.

"Nothing." I shrugged. "Where to next?"

"We're getting our nails done, obviously."

"Obviously."

We both got simple nails, mine white and nude ombré with small dashes of silver glitter, while Zoe got french tips. I filled her in on last night, keeping some information to myself. As much as I love Zoe I think it would be weird if I told her everything Theo and I did, considering the fact that it's Theo.

It was edging towards 4pm by the time we made it home. Our voices were sore after singing along to Taylor Swift for the full car ride, but after a drink and some lunch, I headed straight to my room.

I quickly jumped in the shower, tying my hair up in a bun, not to get it wet. The water dripped down my body and I rubbed the soap over the faint bruises but they didn't show and sign of fading.

It wasn't until I was drying myself off did I realise what's really going to happen tonight. We're finally going to do it. All the teasing, flirting, benefits, running and chasing is over, yet it's only the beginning for us.

I slipped on some joggers and a zip up hoodie to wear while I did my makeup. "Zoe?"

"I'm coming!"

Seconds later Zoe came into my room. "What are we doing with your hair?"

"I was thinking curls?"

"I'll get my curling iron."

My makeup brush tickled my eyelids while Zoe tugged on my hair. The music playing on the speaker filled the silence while we both focused on making me look as good as possible.
