We ending up winning. By a lot. I honestly think the ref stopped counting after ten minutes.

I tried to keep all my focus on the ball, but it's hard when Zoe and Theo and laughing and whispering in the stand, and I can feel Matt's eyes on me.

Normally when you win a game, you run and hug your loved ones to celebrate, but right now I'm not sure what I'm meant to do.

"Good game... well done... good game..."

I shook all of the other team's hands before going back to mine.

"Well played, Young." Katie smiled at me.

"It was a team effort, Stanford." I hugged her.

We gathered around for coach to give us another talk, and I planned ways to escape. We're probably almost finished what would have been forth period, meaning break is soon and Theo's game is after.

We all parted after the speech, and I made my way to Theo and Zoe who were getting up from their seats, and pretended not to see Matt.

"Hey."

"Well done!"

"You did great." Theo tapped my arm gently, making me shiver.

"Thank you."

"I'm going to go call Spencer, I'll be back." Zoe disappeared, giving Theo a smile.

What the hell did they talk about?

"How long until your game?" I asked him.

"About fifteen minutes, are you coming to it?"

"I wouldn't miss it." We sat back down, me taking Zoe's warm seat. "What were you two talking about?"

"Nothing important."

"Mhm, okay."

"What are you doing later?"

There's the question I was craving to hear all week yet now I'm dreading it. "I said I'd get a coffee with Matt-"

"Again?"

"-To talk about last night." I carried on, ignoring his comment. "I'm going to tell him that we can't hang out anymore, and I don't like him like that."

"Really?"

"Yeah, it'll take thirty minutes, and then I'm going home. Do you want to come over? Zoe's going out and you can stay the night..."

"Okay, yeah. Text me as soon as you get home. And please, don't let him kiss you again."

"I won't."

"I need to get changed, I'll catch you in a bit."

"Sure, bye."

I smiled to myself as I walked away. He wants to hang out tonight, and he doesn't want me to kiss Matt.

I made my way down the stand, hoping to sneak into the changing rooms before I was spotted.

"Hey, Camila."

Nope, not quick enough. "Hey, Matt."

"Well done, you did great."

"Thanks, I was just going to get a shower before basketball..."

"Oh, yeah, we still on for later?"

"Mhm." I nodded, with an awkward smile as I sped down the hall to the locker room.

I had a quick body shower and slipped my uniform back on, keeping my tie hung loose and my first buttons undone. My fifth period is free, so hopefully I'll get to watch all Theo's game, if not, Zoe won't mind me skipping health class.

When I went to the basketball court there were a lot more people in the stands. Matt was distracted with the team so I managed to find Zoe and sit beside her.

"Hey."

"Hey. What did you say to Theo?"

"Nothing, why?"

"I don't believe you."

"Ouch. Fine, we talked about Spencer, and then I told him we were going out tonight so you'll be home alone. That's all."

"That's all?"

"Yes, now watch the game."

I rolled my eyes, still not believing a word she said. I scanned the hall and my eyes landed on Rebecca, looking across the hall and giving Theo a wave. She eventually spotted me and Zoe, giving us a smile before rushing to sit beside us.

"Zoe!"

"Becca!"

"I missed you!"

After a quick reunion we watched them throw in the ball, and I wasn't even surprised when Theo was the first to get his hands on it.

The sound of their boots squeaking on the floor echoed through the halls.

Jake was actually pretty good too - he was the first to get a basket.

I love watching Theo play basketball, he can be unbearably attractive sometimes, and right now is one of those moments. He didn't seem tired at all after running lengths of the court, and I even noticed him laughing as he dribbled past an opposing player.

I turned on my phone to check them time, noticing a message from earlier.

*hey, good luck :) can we talk later?*

He wants to talk. What does he want to talk about? What was he saying to Zoe?

I glanced up and watched him sprint across the court, like he was going to mentally answer my question.

They called half time, and my eyes traveled down his body as he raised his jersey to wipe his face, showing his abdomen. Fuck.

"Earth to Camila."

"Hm? Yeah?"

"Which one."

She showed me her phone, swiping through pictures of her in dresses. "-For tonight."

"I love the green." Becca told her.

"Me too." I agreed, still half in a trance.

"So who is this man? Does he have a name? Any pictures...?"

"Actually..." Zoe giggled, "he's kind of related to you..."

The final whistle blew and the room filled with clapping and cheering. Theo shook hands and pat peoples back, giving Jake a massive hug which I think was more Jake's idea than his, before running back to his coach.

I headed down the stands, watching from afar and waiting their for coach's speech to end.

"Proud of you boys, well played. It's a strong start to a long year, let's keep up the good work..."

Theo spotted me, giving me a smile and occasionally rolling his eyes while he half listened to his coach. They finally finished, and he picked up his bottle of water before making his way over to me.

"Hey, well done."

"Thanks." He took a sip of his drink, "I'll keep my distance, I need a shower."

"You do that." I took a step back, jokingly.

Becca and Zoe caught up to us, "Well played."

"Thank you."

"I've got to get going, I'll see you tomorrow night, yeah?"

We all said our goodbyes, and I noticed Theo mouthing 'thank you', which made me question why he didn't say it out loud.

"I'm going to get changed, see you." Theo excused himself and I walked Becca to her car.

"So, how's college?"

"So so good. I really needed to get out of this town, it's so different - but a good different..."

I slipped down the halls and collected my bag from the changing rooms, making me way back towards the social area to waiting for Theo but knowing it's going to be Matt who finds me first.

"Hey."

"Oh, hi."

"Do you wanna get out of here now?"

"Shouldn't we wait until the bell?"

"We're already skipping class, we may as well do something useful during it."

I considered, slightly stalling in hope that Theo would come around the corner. I know I need to get this done with as soon as possible, so I agreed.

"Sure, I did promise you thirty minutes..."
