《Hot Chocolate》chapter fifty-two, just go with it.

"Hey, what are you doing later?" I asked him during our last class. I'm tired of waiting for him to ask when I can just do it myself.
"I'm probably going to do something with Becca, you?"
"Not sure yet..."
I understand his sister is in town and he wants to spend time with her, but it's not like him to completely avoid me. Is he really not interested at all anymore?
"I think I'm going out with Matt tonight."
I waited for any kind of reaction. A tense jaw, clenched knuckles, avoiding eye contact. But no. No reaction. He doesn't get jealous of Matt anymore.
"Cool."
The bell rang, interrupting things. His desk was practically empty, so it only took him a second to shove his notebook in his bag and fling it over his shoulder. "Text me?"
"Sure."
I watched him leave the classroom as I neatly packed my books back into my bag and exchanging it for my phone.
*Pick me up at 6?*
*Will do :)*
Zoe was waiting in the parking lot when I left the school, sipping on a travel cup of coffee. "You always come out ten minutes after everyone else."
"Im doing you a favour, you can miss all the traffic now." I smiled jokingly as we pulled out of the half-empty lot.
"You look better today."
"Thank you, I feel better."
"So how are things with Theo?"
"Distant. He's spending a lot of time with his family because Becca's back in town so we haven't really hung out."
"Becca's back? And you didn't tell me?"
"Sorry, I completely forgot to. They invited us to dinner on Friday, if you're off work."
"Yeah, tell Theo we'll be there."
"Are you still going out with Spencer tomorrow night?"
"Yep, I might not be home Thursday night though..."
"Honestly I'd rather that. Please let me know next time you're bringing a date home."
"Sorry." She chuckled.
"Also, I think I'm going to see a movie with Matt tonight-"
"Matt?"
"-As friends."
"Nope."
"Please? Just friends, I promise."
"Promise to keep it PG?"
"I promise."
"Okay."
"What time are you going out tomorrow?"

"Not sure, why?"
"I'm kinda co-Captain of the Volleyball team and we have a game tomorrow."
"Really? Congrats! I knew you would be, I'll be there."
"Thanks. Theo's captain too, he's playing after me."
"I'll stick around for that too."
*
I rushed to do my homework and practically ripped out half my wardrobe, trying to find something nice, but not too nice, to wear tonight. Movies are casual... I need something casual...
I decided on black ripped jeans and a green halter top, that showed a strip of skin on my stomach but covered my cleavage. Not flirty, but not boring. Perfect.
My hair was still tied up, but it was a bit messier than earlier, which I didn't bother to fix.
I added winged eye liner and rushed downstairs when I heard the door bell ring. "He's here!"
"I'm coming Zoe... one second-"
I tripped over my feet as I attempted to slip on my green converse, with my purse hanging off my shoulder.
"Hey."
I opened the door and watched a smile grow across his face.
"Hey." His eyes quickly flashed up and down my body before meeting my eyes again.
Her wore a blue sweatshirt with a white collar underneath, and dark blue jeans, with his hands stuffed in his pockets.
"Bye Zo-"
"Wait a second miss. Curfew?"
"Curfew?" God she really doesn't like Matt.
"It's a school night, and you have a game tomorrow."
I gave Matt an apologetic smile. "Ten?"
Zoe's face didn't crack, her eyebrows stayed raised. "Nine-thirty?"
"I'll have her home by nine." Matt bargained.
"Ok. Drive safe, be good."
"Yeah."
I gave her a smile and watched her mouth 'PG', before I followed Matt to his car, letting him open the door for me before going around the other side and hoping in beside me.
"What are we watching?"
"What about Just go with It?"
"You don't strike me as the rom-com type."
"There's a lot you still don't know about me."
I stayed quiet with a smile to avoid anymore flirting, we only just got in the car.
*
I finished my popcorn ten minutes into the movie. We sat at the back of the room on the highest seat, which normally is a good view except the man sat a row in front of me is like six-foot-eight. The cinema is quite empty due to the fact that it's a Wednesday evening, so it felt like we were almost alone.

I placed the empty popcorn box at my feet beside his as relaxed back into the chair.
"You okay?" Matt whispered, leaning closer to me so I could hear him over the speakers. He placed his hand lightly on my thigh, sending shockwaves through my body. Friends don't do that, Matthew.
"Yeah." I nodded. He gave me a smile and turned back to the screen, but I could see him looking at me again multiple times throughout the movie. His hand never left my leg, and sometimes moved slightly or applied more pressure.
His fingers ran closer to the inside of my thigh, and I squeezed them closer together out of reflex, catching his attention. He turned his head to mine, and I don't try to hide the fact that I did too.
Our faces stayed inches apart, our eyes staring blankly at each other. Adam Sandler made some dirty joke on the screen, making me smirk slightly. His eyes flashed to my lips, then back to my eyes, and the next thing I knew his free hand had cupped my face, pulling me closer and pressing his lips against mine.
Friends definitely don't do that.
I knew I should push him away, but I couldn't. Theo was still running through my mind but so was the fact that he doesn't want me.
I parted my lips, letting him kiss me deeper.
This is probably a terrible idea. It's giving him an idea, that I'm going to have to shut down again. But part of me doesn't want to stop this.
He bit softly on my bottom lip as he pulled away, giving me a grin as I looked up to him.
His hand moved to my chin, pushing it back towards the screen. "You're going to miss the best part." He whispered on my neck.
"I can't see it." I admitted. "He's too tall."
"Wanna sit on my lap?"
"What?" I almost laughed.
"Come here."
The stupid part of me took the wheel, and my body stood up, sitting back down on his leg.
"Can you still see?"
His hands stretched around my body, pulling me further back so I could lean on his shoulder. His hands lay on my thigh and stomach, and his head rested in the crook of my neck. "Yeah."
I shuffled my body slightly to make us both more comfortable, attempting to keep my distance a bit. "Don't do that." His voice huffed quietly but demandingly.
I quickly understood, smiling to myself. "Sorry."
"Or do... I don't mind." I could feel his breath on my neck, covering it in goosebumps.
The movie was excruciatingly slow after our moment. I could actually see the screen now, and I love this movie, but I can't focus on the movie right now.
Maybe I should give in to Matt. Maybe it's Theo that needs to get out of my system, and I know there's only one way to do that.
But I'm not sure if I want him out of my system.
Do I just like Matt because he likes me? If he paid no interest to me I'd still know him as the quiet boy from some of my classes.
I sighed as the credits popped up on the screen and people began scrambling to leave while the lights woke us up.
*
The drive home was quiet, filled with some accidental eye contact and smiles. "Thank you for that."
"No problem, I had a great time."
"Me too. What time is it?"
We pulled up in front of my house and he shuffled to pull his phone out of his pocket while I undid my belt.
"Eight-fifty-eight. We still have two minutes..."
I knew exactly what he meant, and I know kissing him once was bad enough, but I won't stop him if he goes in for a second.
"Eight-fifty-nine." I corrected him, looking at his lit up phone screen.
"She won't mind if you're a few minutes late..." He leant closer across the car.
"I should get going..."
I gave in, moving closer to him until we exhaled on each other's lips. "Goodnight Matt."
"You're not leaving like that." He tutted, grabbing my jaw and pulling my lips onto his.
This time I knew, I really shouldn't, which is why I was first to pull away. "Nine." I smiled, pointing to his phones screen.
"Goodnight, Camila."
"'Night."
My feet pat off the wet sidewalk as I headed inside, closing the door behind me.
Three... two... one...
"How was it? What happened?"
