《Keeping Lennox》Epilogue

The next year was nothing but amazing. I had the most beautiful wife and the most perfect daughter.

I just learned that we would never be bothered by Tori again. She committed suicide while in jail. Mrs. Pat took it hard and became very ill. She passed away in March of 2013.

It was now December of 2013. Today was our one year wedding anniversary. We recently bought a house down the road from my mom and dad.

I was lying in bed with Cassie and she surprised me with a question, "how soon do you want another baby?"

I looked at her in shock. Where was this coming from? We both wanted more children, but we haven't said when.

"Haven't though about it," I shrugged. "I guess whenever you are. Why?"

"Hmmm," she nodded. She was quiet for a moment. "What about seven months from now?"

I was confused. Didn't a pregnancy last nine months? Wait a minute.

I sat up and stared at her, "are you telling me you are pregnant?" I got a little excited and scared.

"Yep," she smiled and looked down. "Are you happy? I mean, I am. I know we didn't plan on it so soon, but-"

I stopped her, "sweetheart, I am beyond excited. I have imagined us having babies since before marriage. Of course, I am happy." I pulled her to me and kissed her fully on the lips.

...................

Robert Chandler Bentley was born July 10, 2014.

Cassie was a trooper. She did amazing. We had a perfect family now. A daughter and a son.

We named him Robert after Cassie's dad, and Chandler for her maiden name. We agreed to call him by his middle name though.

The nurse came in with Chandler, and Lennox squealed with delight. She was so ready to meet her brother.

Lennox was sitting on the bed with Cassie, and I placed Chandler in her arms.

I watched in awe as my two favorite girls held my son.

I walked over to Cassie and kissed her lips. I then kissed Lennox and Chandler's heads.

I looked to Cassie and said, "thank you."

She smiled, "for what?"

"Everything," I replied. "For loving me. Marrying me. Giving me a son." I paused. "But most of all, for helping me keep Lennox."

Cassie and Chandler were released two days later. Back home, everything was perfect once again. We didn't do anything. Cassie and I just stayed in bed with our children the entire day.

It came time for Lennox's bedtime. Cassie's tradition continued. She still sang butterfly, fly away every night to Lennox. Now, at age 3 1/2, Lennox sang along. She would fall asleep singing with Cassie beside her.

I held and rocked Chandler as I listened to my two favorite girls sing. When I heard Cassie stop, I knew Lennox was out.

Lennox was finally beginning to sleep peacefully. She used to have nightmares. Now there was nothing.

We had no more worries.

We were keeping Lennox and our family forever and always.
