We decided to leave before prom was over.

Kayla and Michael ran up and said, "congratulations you two. I had hope that was going to happen."

They were always in synch with each other. We waited at the door for Cade and Allie, and we left the building.

It was only 10:30. We didn't have to be home yet, so we went out to the beach for a while. We walked along the pier and looked out at the water. It was beautiful this time of night.

Cassie leaned up against me. "Tonight, was amazing. I am so glad we came."

I wrapped my arms around her, "me too. But, it is not over yet." I reached inside my jacket and pulled out a box.

She put her hands to her lips. "Wade."

"It's not an engagement ring," I assured her. "I know we are not ready yet." I opened the box. "It's a promise ring. This is my promise it love you no matter what. It also symbolizes that I will propose one day. You will never know when."

She held out her hand, "oh, Wade. It is so beautiful."

I pulled her to me and kissed her. Once again, I saw our entire future in her eyes. I knew this love was real.
