《Keeping Lennox》Chapter Twenty One

Cassie's POV

After the court date, everything was perfect. Wade was happier than I ever remember seeing him. Seeing him that way made my heart swell. He was such an amazing father.

The love he had for Lennox was very evident. Yesterday, his fatherly instincts really set in.

Lennox had to be rushed to the emergency room late last night. Her breathing was labored and she was blue. He immediately grabbed her, and we fled to the hospital.

They admitted her immediately. She has asthma is what we were told. Nothing was ever done about it before. She has gone three months with this disease and nothing was done.

Wade, obviously, was furious.

"What do you mean she has had it all this time!" He was yelling at the doctor. "I was never told of this. Why has nothing been done before?"

I walked up to him and grabbed his hand, "sweetheart. Calm down. She is going to be okay."

He turned to me. "I know she will. This is a good hospital. I just can't believe Tori let it get this bad. Mrs. Pat isn't responsible for her. This is Tori's fault. I told her to quit smoking those nasty cigarets."

I pulled him into a hug. "I had no idea she smoked while pregnant."

"Yeah," he agreed me either. "She always went through two or three packs a week when we were dating. I begged her to stop."

"It's okay," I said. "We will make it. Together."

He squeezed me and held me closer.

The nurse came out and said we could see Lennox. We about sprinted to the room.

Wade's POV

"How is she?" I asked. Man, I hated seeing her tiny body all hooked up

"Amazing," the nurse said with a smile. "She is a trooper. She is really strong. You have a little warrior on your hands."

"I know," I smiled. I was so happy she was alright. "When can we go home?"

"Tomorrow morning," the nurse replied. "We are going to show you how to use the nebulizer."

"The nebu what?" I had no clue what that was.

"It is for her breathing treatments. She will need one done twice a day. Morning and bedtime. It helps open her lungs and sends air to them."

"Oh," I was still confused, but I will learn how to do whatever it takes to help her.

I watched the nurse pull out this machine and hooked it up to Lennox. She showed me the medication that is used, and showed me how to administer it.

Five minutes later, she was done. "That's it. That's all there is to it."

"Seriously," I asked. I looked to Cassie and said, "we can handle that."

"Yep," she smiled. "We can handle anything."

The next morning, we did a breathing treatment ourselves. The nurse watched and made sure we did it right.

"Okay," the nurse said. "You are good to go." She handed me a bag which held the nebulizer and medicine. "All the information about refills is in there. Need anything? Feel free to call." She looked at Lennox. "Bye, bye, sweet girl."

"Say bye bye, sweetie." I picked up her car seat and grabbed Cassie's hand. "Come on my lovely girls. Let's go home."
