Cassie and I walked to my room. She put Lennox in the cradle my mom set up in my room.

She walked over and sat on my bed. "Okay, start from the beginning."

"Okay," I began. "Yesterday, I was here all alone. I got a text message from Tori. She wanted to meet me at the park about Lennox. I was hesitant at first, but when I saw Lennox's name, I jumped up and left. I went to the park and met Tori. She looked terrible, Cassie. She looked high." I paused. "She told me she dropped the adoption, and I was getting Lennox. She said she didn't want to be a mother. She said Lennox doesn't know her. She told me that she realized how desperate I was to get her. She asked me to go get Lennox from her mom. She told her mom that I would have Lennox until the court date." I sat down and grabbed her hand. She was listening very intently. "And, she told me she was going to sign over her rights. Cassie, this means that Lennox is ours. Forever!"

She wasted no time. She threw her arms around my neck and pulled me down to her lips.

"Wade," she said stroking my cheek. She had tears in her eyes. "I am so happy. We are a family now?"

"Yes, sweetheart," I laid down and pulled her down beside me. "Me, you, and Lennox. We get to be a family."

She wrapped her arms around my body, and I kissed her forehead. We stayed like that for quite a while. We listened to the sounds of each other's breathing.

"Wade," she looked up at me. "I love you."

"I love you, too." I kissed her lips one last time and went to pick up Lennox.

"Hello, sweet girl," Cassie cooed. "I love you so much already."

This is how it is meant to be. I sat and watched my two favorite girls exchange conversation. It was the sweetest thing ever.
