《Keeping Lennox》Chapter Three

"What do you mean you are not allowed to see Lennox!" My mother exclaimed. She was furious. "She is your daughter for crying out loud!"

"Wanda," my dad warned. "Please try to be calm and don't do or say anything stupid."

"He's right mom," I sighed. It had been twenty four hours since Lennox was born, and I have gotten no sleep. I haven't even seen my daughter.

"As much as I don't like this situation, I am going to try and be rational. I need to walk outside for a bit." I got up from my chair and walked outside.

We were still at the hospital. I refused to leave although Tori still wouldn't let me in the room. I have good friends, who happen to be her friends, who are in there. I really can't believe she is doing this to me.

While pacing the walkway to the hospital, I ran into one of my older sisters, Waverley.

She grabbed my shoulders to steady me. "Woah, Wader. What is going on? Why aren't you in the room with Tori and the baby?"

I cringed at my nickname she had given me since birth.

I looked back to her and simply said, "I am not allowed."

"What!" Waverley was very surprised. "She is your daughter. Why can't you see her?"

"Join the club, sis. We are all wondering the same thing." I patted her on the shoulder. "Mom and dad are inside. They aren't allowed in either. I'm going to stay out here for a bit."

"Okay, Wader. I'll see you later." She leaned over and kissed me on the cheek before walking back inside.

.............

I was sitting outside on the bench in front of the hospital. I had so many thoughts going through my head. They were interrupted by a voice.

"What are you doing out here? Aren't you supposed to be in there with your daughter?"

I knew that voice. I loved that voice. I looked up and met the gaze of my childhood best friend, Cassie Chandler.

I smiled when she sat beside and stated, "Tori kicked me out. I am not allowed to see Lennox. All my friends are allowed. My family and I are not allowed. Why does she have to be so stupid? That is my daughter!"

I was screaming now. Cassie grabbed my head and said, "Wade, chill. You will figure this out. I know you. You won't stop until this is done."

"Thanks, Cass. I am really thankful for you. You have been here for me since I found out about her." I leaned over and gave her a big hug.

"What are best friends for?" She said returning the hug. "I'll leave you to thinking. I'm going to say hi to your parents."

When Cassie left, I went back to contemplating it all. Cassie was beyond amazing. I have know her since we were three. She was the first person I told when I found out about Lennox. I am so grateful that she is in my life. I need her to stay. I need her. Our relationship goes beyond friendship. I dated other girls to hide my feelings for her. I have felt this way for a couple of years now. Now, it was time to stop hiding.

I am in love with Cassie Chandler.

But who wants to date an eighteen year old who has a newborn in the first place?
