《Unwanted》Chapter 86

Two months later
Gripping the porcelain bowl, the contents of my stomach escaping my body. I dry heaved for a few moments before flushing the toilet, a foul taste in my mouth. Leaning my head on the rim, I rested there for a bit, letting the coolness soak into my now clammy skin.
I thought this was only going to be be a one time thing, not an everyday occurrence. Give days ago, when this first happened, I thought it was from something I ate from the night before. The second time it happened, I thought that maybe I had gotten some sort of food poison and by day three, I thought I was sick. Yet, even if I was sick, which is very unlikely for our species, I would have gotten some other symptoms, or at least puked more than once a day.
Orion's hands threaded through my hair, pushing it away from my face. I could tell that this was worrying him, not know what was wrong with me. This is how we have been waking up for this past week, me hovering over the toilet while he would rub my back or hold my hair. Some days I appreciated it, like now, I didn't want to be alone. I wanted him to hold me and tell me that everything was going to be okay. Then, on the other days, I just wanted to be left alone, brushing him off and ignoring him, climbing back into bed and pretending like nothing happened.
This change in myself was scaring me. I didn't like brushing him off and snapping him off. A few minutes after I do, I'd feel horrible, saying sorry and asking him to hold me. This unknown sickness was scaring me. I didn't feel sick yet I was more tired than ever and was waking up early just to puke.
"Maybe you should go see the pack doctor?" Orion offered again, rubbing the small beads of sweat of my forehead. He asked me to go yesterday but I felt fine, I still feel fine.
"No, I'm okay. I could be stressed or just eating to much. I'm fine." I brushed him off, standing as I did so. Grabbing my toothbrush, I cleaned my mouth, getting rid of the foul taste and odor.
"I have a meeting with the Nightingale Pack in about an hour. If you won't go to the doctor, will you at least go to my mom? I don't want to leave you alone just in case your condition get worse." He said, wrapping his arms around my waist. His hold was gentle yet firm, letting me know that 'no' was not an answer he was going to accept.
Spitting the month, white froth from my mouth, I rinsed off my toothbrush before putting it back in the holder. Looking into his eyes through the mirror, I weaved my fingers through his. His eyes were slightly dull from unhappiness, his worry for me reaching an all time high.

"Okay." I agreed. "Just let me get ready." Nodded, he unwrapped his arms from me and kissed my forehead.
"Just let me give her a call to let her know that you are coming over." Exiting the room, he headed to his office, giving time and privacy to change. Not even bothering to brush my hair, I pulled on random shorts and one of Orion's sweatshirts. Slipping on some flip flops, I made my way down the hall, stopping outside the door when I heard him speaking on the phone.
"Mom, I just don't know what to do. She doesn't act sick but she's been throwing up every morning. She refuses to go and get checked out and I just don't know what's wrong. It's really worrying me." He paused for a few moments, listening for her response on the other end.
"Yeah, I know you will. I have a meeting to go to and I just don't want to leave her alone, in case she gets worse and needs someone. I was wondering if she could stay with you. Maybe you could somehow even convince her to get checked out." Again, he paused to let her speak.
"Thank you. We will be over shortly. I'm not sure when the meeting will end but I'll call when it's over." I waited a good minutes outside his door after he put his phone down on the desk. Poking my head in, I saw him leading up against his desk, deep in thought.
"Hey." I said, gaining his attention.
"What did she say?"
"She said to come over as soon as possible and you can stay as long as you want. She also made breakfast." At the thought of food, my stomach rumbled, making me want to get there faster.
................................................................
Not even bothering to knock, Orion opened the door to his parents home, letting me walk in first. Turning to him, he made no effort to cross the threshold.
"Are you not stay for breakfast?"
"No, he showed up earlier than expected. He says that it's important and needs to be discussed immediately." He said rubbing his temples. I could feel him not wanting to leave.
"I'll be fine, Orion. I'm with your mother."
"I know. Just please, tell me if you need anything."
"I will." I said placing a sweet kiss onto his lips
"I'll see you later." Shutting the door behind me, I made my way to the kitchen. Orion's mom was standing next to the stove, poking a pan of bacon with a fork.
"Hi honey!" She said, giving me a slight glance before turning back to the food.
"You can go ahead and start eating if you want, I'm just finishing up the-" the fork she was holding dropped to the ground, the metal against tile was loud against my ears. She turned around quickly, gasping, eyes wide and a huge grin across her face.

"Oh my goodness! You're pregnant!"
"E-Excuse me?" I stuttered, stunned at her outburst.
"Your pregnant! On my this is amazing!" Engulfing me in a hug, I stood there as stiff as a board. Pulling away, she stared at my ashen face, the smile being wiped off her face.
"You didn't know, did you?"
I shook my head, not able to open my mouth. My hands shakily moved their way to my stomach as if they were expecting to feel a bump. I wasn't surprised when I found my abdomen still flat but that didn't mean I wasn't scared. There was a baby growing inside me.
"How do you know?" I asked as she pulled a chair out for me, sitting down.
"His scent is overpowering yours. It's trying to mask the scent of you and the baby. It's supposed to be for protection so others know that you are definitely mated and the male will get angry if you are harmed." She said, rubbing my hands gently.
"When he told me you were getting sick in the mornings but not actually being sick, I was a bit concerned but now it just confirms it."
"I-I" I couldn't even think of the words to form the sentence, I just started crying.
"Oh, Honey! Don't cry!" She said, hugging me.
"I-I don't know what to do. W-What am I supposed to do?"
"Shhh. Just relax. You should be happy."
"I-I an but I'm scared. Oh my Goddess! What is Orion going to say?" I asked freaking out all over again.
"Malia? What's wrong? Are you okay? Do you need me to come and get you?" Orion's asked, his voice frantic in my mind.
"No. No, I'm fine. I just got spooked for moment. Nothing serious."
"Okay. The meeting is going to last longer than I thought so I might be home towards evening. I love you."
"I love you too."
"I don't know what to do." I whispered, placing my head in my hands.
"Honey, he's going to be ecstatic!"
"Really?"
"Oh, I know so."
................................................................
Orion had come over once dusk approached. His eyes were droopy and tired, an endless stack of papers in his hands. Yet, he perked up once he saw me and when he got a whiff of the fresh chocolate chips cookies that were sitting out. Handing him the plate, he thanked me with a lazy smile.
"Would you like a glass of milk?"
"That would be lovely, Sweetheart." Pouring him a glass, I handed it over, sitting down in the chair next to him.
"How was the meeting."
"Boring." He sighed, rubbing his temples. Picking up a cookie, he dunked it into the milk.
"He's a new Alpha and has absolutely no idea what he's doing. All he did was repeat things, give bad offers and try to form a one sided alliance." He groaned, taking a large bite out of the cookie.
I kept up the small talk as he ate his cookies. When he started to reach the bottom, I grew more nervous and his mom took over, distracting him from me. He was completely oblivious to the black ink that was starting to be revealed on the plate, happily taking another cookie off.
"What?" He asked himself as he noticed the lettering, making me grab my thighs for support.
"Hey mom, can you hand me a paper towel?" He asked and she happily handed him one. Laying it on the table, he transferred the remaining cookies from the plate on to the paper towel, revealing the message.
"I'm pregnant." He read out loud, his eyes brows draw together. Not more than a second later, his head popped up and he look directly into my eyes.
"Are you serious?" He asked and I nodded my head slightly.
"Yeah. I am."His face was blank for a few moments and I couldn't tell what he was think or feeling.
Then a wide smile broke onto his face and he laughed. Standing up, he pulled me into his arms, my legs wrapped around his waist. He twirled my around for a few times which made me laugh.
"You're pregnant." He laughed, placing a hand on my stomach.
"You're going to be a mom."
"And you're going to be a dad." I said.
"I'm going to be a dad." He repeated, slightly dazed. A tear escaped his eye and he let out a choked laugh, almost as if he is going to cry.
"You have no idea how happy I am." He told me as I wiped the tears from his eyes.
"Your mom thought that you would faint." I teased him.
"I think I just might." He muttered, placing a kiss on my forehead before setting me on the ground.
"I love you." I told him.
"I love you, too." He said, connecting our lips. Bending down, he lifted up my shirt and placed a kiss on my lower abdomen.
"And you, little one. I love you too."
