《Lost Without You (A werewolf romance)》48. Executed

Lincoln with his men, Tyler and Matt along with the former Alpha and Luna stood at the rostrum of the arena. Crowds gathered all around. Although Lincoln wanted me up there beside him, I thought it wasn't the best time to do so. The first gathering that Lincoln and I had to be seen together should be for something gratifying and not an execution.

Benjamin stood on a large wooden deck, with the executioner beside him. A long lever beside the unknown man. It seemed like they had newly placed the deck just for this purpose. He stared at absolutely nothing, and void of any emotion. It was painful to think that they'll be ending his life today, and more excruciating for me to watch someone losing their existence.

The pack members who were present for the event, showed complete dislike to Benjamin. From another entrance, a group of guards brought in Sarah. Her hands and legs chained. She made eye contact with no one, except when one of guards tried to pull her further to the front, she gave her a deadly glare. I guess after all the punishments, some will never learn their lesson.

"According to our inspection in the past few weeks, Benjamin Cohen has been brought for execution for the murder of a rogue, also known to have been Sarah Cohen's mate. As the sister had disapproved of the rogue, without considering any other alternative, he had heartlessly killed another guiltless wolf. It's unjust." The crowds murmured.

"The werewolf council has granted The Blood Hunters pack to proceed with the execution." An old tall man wearing a jet black suit spoke.

Two guards brought Benjamin forward. He just stared at the ground. At this point my hands trembled, coming here was a bad idea. I held my dad's arm for support. Looking up at Lincoln, with his plain white shirt, sleeves rolled up to his elbows and black dress pants. He held a cold stare at Benjamin, I could read the pain and sadness behind it.

The guards placed a dark material over Benjamin's head. This was it. With in a second the rope was placed around his neck and I shut my eyes as the executioner held the lever.

Gasps of shock were heard. It was indeed over. I couldn't bring myself to look at the body, but I felt someone's eyes on me. The tears fell to my cheeks as I opened my eyes, and from afar Sarah stared at me, with anger. She was brought here for her brother's execution, but it looked like it didn't bother her at all. Her eyes were solely trained on me, not on her deceased brother, not on Lincoln. On me. Her wicked glare was purely towards me, I understand the part where Lincoln left her for me. But the punishments her brother or herself were undergoing weren't because of me. I wish someone could tell her that, since right now her eyes blamed me for everything that's happening to her. She looked miserable.

Lincoln Hunters

"Linc, we've found traces of him along the Canadian border..." Matt informed.

Finally it was all coming to an end.

"The scent is quite fresh." He explained further.

"Great, the warriors are alert. If his presence is spotted anywhere. I'll be going to see him in person." I said to Tyler and Matt.

It's been a long day, following the execution this morning. The werewolf council members were present, it's the first time my pack has conducted an execution and it definitely caught the attention of many other packs. Everyone's curious.

I've been receiving plenty of calls regarding the matter. A few even conveyed their sympathy to me for what happened between Mia and myself. Fuck! She's still mine. I didn't have the time to sit and explain our relationship to each and every one of them so I just let it go.

My father walked in with the council members. They've been good acquaintances to us since I can remember. The men took a seat with their choice of liquor. Dad sat behind my desk while I leaned on the cabinet.

"So how's the new Beta taking on the role, Alpha?" Vincent the oldest member asked. He had his eyes trained on Tyler who stood by the window, while his question was directed to me.

Tyler smirked at me. "He's doing great." I mirrored his expression. Matt and dad nodded in agreement.

"He's kicking ass during trainings." Dad laughed. "Literally." All the other men joined him in.

"So Lincoln, it's about time you crown a Luna for the pack, don't you think?" Another asked.

"I'm working on it." I smiled, if Amelia hadn't given me the chance this would have been a painful topic.

"Just when we thought she'll make him work hard for it." Matt sighed. "She giving in already." He shook his head in disappointment. What? He's disappointed! Tyler chuckled with a tsk in the end.

"Whose side are you guys on? Fucking seriously?!" I barked through mind-link.

The two began to laugh instead of replying back to me.

"I don't understand Alpha Elijah." Another council member spoke.

"Lincoln's trying to win his mate back." My dad informed. "He wants no one else."

"Oh goddess..." Vincent laughed. "Who would've thought the most feared Alpha, Lincoln Hunters trying so hard to win his mate's heart. Any girl would love to be in her place. "

"Mia isn't any girl." I shook my head.

"Don't worry son, she'll come along. The moon goddess chose her for a reason." Matt and Tyler raised their glasses to that.

By the time the council men left it was almost sunset. Mia wasn't going to pick up my calls for now, she said she needed a nap. I miss her so much.

"Didn't you see her like yesterday," Kai teased.

"I just wanna know if she's okay after the events of this morning."

"Honey! Let's go!" My mother came waltzing into the office looking for dad. She was all dressed up.

"Mama Luna looking gorgeous." Tyler whistled, making dad growl.

"Calm down!" She scolded dad. Giving Tyler a little hug, she placed her hands on her waist glaring at dad. "We leave in five minutes."

He began scrambling from his seat.

"Where are you two off to?" I asked amused at my parents.

"Sophia arranged a small dinner party Linc." With her hands she gestured me to bend down. Once I did, she continued. "You might wanna go and check up on Mia, poor girl she's alone at home."

My inside began to flutter, I could feel Kai howling in surprise. "Cassie said the house key is under the rug at the entrance. You're welcome." She whispered with a wink. Clearly knowing that the others could hear it too. I couldn't hold back, I grinned at her. Just what I needed.

"Is this man drunk or what?" Mum shouted at dad again, who was looking for his missing shoe.

"Nope just a little old. Found it!" He slipped on his shoe, before waving at the boys and rushing after mum.

I was getting extremely impatient now, I had to see her. There wasn't much to do at the office. I straightened my posture, and turned to Matt and Tyler, "Matt we got guards patrolling the borders, I need to have look from the tower too-"

"Alpha!" They spoke at once.

"We got it!" Tyler laughed.

"Go now!" Matt gestured me to get out of the room.

The three of us walked out of the room together, shutting the door behind. With long strides I reached for my car with in seconds. And I finally drove off to see her.
