"You don't have a shirt on." I pointed out to Lincoln, who got into the driver's seat.

He settled in, sighing he looked down at his abs. "I know." He smirked.

"You might wanna cover yourself up." I muttered. What am I even saying? "It's cold outside." It's warmer than usual outside. Please shut up Amelia.

He chuckled, placing his elbow on my seat, leaning my way.

"Is it cold outside Mia? Or are you a little distracted." Lincoln spoke, his eyes travelled from my eyes to my lips.

"Ha! You wish!" I crossed my arms.

"Too bad." His face was now just centimetres away from from mine. Oh goddess he's going to kiss me. I closed my eyes. His breath fanned my face. Did I want to push him away or pull him in for a desperate kiss?

My eyes snapped open to see Lincoln eyeing me with amusement, whilst his hand shuffled at the back seat. He pulled out a white T-shirt.

"Happy?" He teased, slipping on the T-shirt over his head and pulling it down.

I looked out the window, completely embarrassed about the awkward situation he put me in. Lincoln started the engine and began to drive. Once we had got on the road, his warm large hand held mine that laid on my lap. I laced my fingers through his, laying back in my seat. This was perfect. The comfortable silence we shared.

Heera kept prancing back in my head, pushing me to ask Lincoln something.

"How's Kai?" I asked.

Lincoln smiled at me before focusing back on the road. "He misses Heera. But I've made him a promise." He stopped talking for a second, and chuckled. "Is she worried about him?"

I could feel Heera wagging her fluffy tail, ears perked up, looking all cute. "Yeah." I smiled.

He let out a laugh, "he's howling like a wacko up there." He pointed to his head, shaking it. "I gotta let him out again, tonight. He's fucking hyped now." I couldn't help but laugh with him.

Soon we arrived in front of my house. I stepped out as Lincoln opened the door for me.

"You know that isn't necessary right?" I pointed to Luke's Jeep parked on the opposite side of the road. He's been on duty, guarding our house since the day I had come back from Lincoln's house.

"It's always necessary. I'm taking no chances." He gently pulled me by the arm, making me land on his chest. I sighed placing my cheek on him. I missed the excitement that builds inside your body at your mate's touch, but just Lincoln holding me now felt comforting enough.

"I miss the sparks you give me every time I touch you." He kissed my forehead. "But I'm not complaining, this will suffice for now. You've at least given me a second chance." He hugged me tight. I tilted my head to look at him. How did this man just read my mind?

"Good night Lincoln." I stepped back.

"Good night my love."

Two days later...

"Don't you have other important things to do?" I asked as I placed my lab coat on the chair.

"Like what?" He grunted.

"You know, Alpha duties?" I crossed my hands looking at Lincoln with a smile. He was seated behind my desk, on my chair. Meddling with the paperweight I had.

Ever since the night Lincoln dropped me off home, he made time to come see me at work, during lunch hours. He has been pressuring me to stop driving, because he wanted to drop me off and pick me up. Today, he's surprisingly here before me. Seated in my place as if he owns the darn thing.

"What's this?" He lifted the paperweight, tossing and turning it to figure out what it was. I giggled as I placed it on his palm in the correct way.

"A crystal rose. See!"

He hummed inspecting it further. "My mother gave it to me when I was sixteen."

"Now." I grabbed the paperweight from his hand, making him focus on me. "You gotta go. My patients arrive in..." I looked at my watch, "in five minutes."

"I'll just watch." He crossed his hands.

"You can not do that!" I looked at him incredulously.

"It's been a long night at pack borders Mia." He stretched arms while yawning. "Let me stay with you now. I just wanna relax. I promise I won't touch anything."

I shook my head, pulling him by his arms. He suppressed his laugh at the effort I put to pull him out of the chair.

"Ah! Errr goddess save me!" I gritted my teeth, pulling this hulk of a man with all the strength I got. "Get. Up. Now!"

I huffed as he finally gave in, by standing up himself. We wore the most priceless grin on his face. It made me notice how much more attractive it made him look.

"Now get out!" I shooed him away.

I smiled as I watched him lazily walk to the door.

"I'll see you at lunch." He winked before walking away. Pulling out a mirror from the drawer, to check my hair. I noticed my reddened cheeks. Oh Lincoln!

Three hours later...

I walked to the kid's ward, squeals and laughter made me halt in my tracks. Alex walked out with a broad smile, "Mia! He's waiting for you." He chuckled before striding to his office.

"What is going on here?" I asked as I entered the room. My eyes widen at the ruckus ahead of me. A whole gang of pups ran to my direction, I shut my eyes hoping to take the impact but instead they ran past me. I turned around to see the nurses handing them toys of all sorts. They laughed as they received them, from Barbie dolls, beanie boos, action figures to hot wheels cars.

The culprit responsible for this commotion was sprawled on a bed that was in between the beds of two little boys, who had to be left on bed rest for a couple of days to recover.

One of the young nurses, went up to them handing them their very own new toys. Not before she batted her eyelashes at Lincoln in an enticing manner. Nothing seemed to have distracted him, since his eyes were trained on me the whole time.

Lincoln had one leg bent, resting his elbow on it. While his other leg was stretched out. He seemed to be relaxing. I walked up to him, "it feels like Christmas in here." He simply shrugged at my comment.

"Why?" I asked again.

"The Alpha lost in the game of rock, paper, scissors." One boy explained.

"All three times!" The other chimed in. The boys laughed, as if they had witnessed the most hilarious thing ever.

"That's a shame Alpha." I fake pouted at him before I laughed with the pups.

"What can I say, fate really isn't on my side future Luna." He sat up, coming very close to my ear. "Pout one more time baby." He whispered in a dead serious tone. I gasped when I noticed what I had done.

Pursing my lips together, I turned around to look at the little ones, who were completely engrossed in their own world.

"Let's go!" Lincoln got off the bed. "I'm very hungry."
