Hello you guys!! My lovely readers...
Thank you so much for the lovely comments and the support you've given me regarding the issue. As for now, my story still remains there. I'm not going to bother about it too much. Let's just focus on what I've planned for you guys. And I think right now my No.1 priority should be making you'll happy and not make you wait for updates. So let's get on with the story.
Amelia Lovecraft
The following morning,
Lazily pulling myself out of bed, I went into the bathroom to brush my teeth.
Today is the day, from today on nothing binds me to him. I will be free to do as I please. "You can do this Mia." I muttered to myself, tying up my raven locks into a bun.
"Are you sure you wanna do this?" Heera pondered.
"I'm very sure."
"Right, who wants to be anyone's second choice." She sounded weak, completely exhausted to be honest.
"I'm so sorry baby." I cooed, she purred in return.
~~~~~
"Dad, would the whole pack know of the rejection?"
"Of course muffin. Lincoln nor his wolf will take it lightly. The pack will know."
I nodded, stirring my cup of coffee.
"Catherine and Alpha Elijah would come with Lincoln. I just spoke to her." Mum sat beside me on the dining table.
I didn't feel like crying anymore, with Heera back with me I felt strong. I had to be strong in order to protect my heart.
My dad walked away as the doorbell rang.
"Mia? Are you making the right decision? Cathy said Lincoln is devastated." My mother spoke softly.
"Yes mum, it has to happen."
"This isn't what you really want. I can see in your eyes." She placed a few strands of hair behind my ear.
"It doesn't matter what I want. This is what has to happen..." I laid back on my chair, finally looking at my mum. "What keeps us together is only the bond. Lincoln loved a girl. He fell in love Mum."
"That was before you Mia. He's making an effort now."
"Well it's not enough." I snapped at her for taking his side.
"Amelia you're being stubborn right now." She shook her head at me. "Just give him a chance."
"Mama please! If it was that easy to forget everything... Do you know how I met my mate the first time?" I laughed dryly. "He had his beloved girlfriend on his lap. You think it's that easy to forget that image and move on. You want me to give in just because he's making an effort?" She rubbed my arm in understanding.
"He said he loves me last night. You think he'll have feelings for me after the bond breaks?" I sighed, having a skeptical thought about his words.
"I'm not sure Mia."
"Same." I let out a lifeless chuckle, more likely at my life being a joke at the hands of the moon goddess. All a werewolf ever wanted was a mate to love and cherish for the rest of their lives but here I was gifted with a mess of a mate. The goddess definitely loved me.
At the elder's hut...
My parents and I sat by the fire. Walking into the woods, made the atmosphere colder. The sun was almost setting. Normally the elders would be at their place when we visit them, but Anthea and Ragnar had left to bring Lincoln here. I heard my mother saying something to dad in the evening along words of, "his wolf being distressed and the Alpha himself wreaked havoc in his mansion." Something tugged my heartstrings making me feel like I'm doing something wrong. It was just tonight and then it's all over. We could go our separate ways. He could have anyone he wants.
Heera seemed alerted now. And that only meant one thing. Lincoln was on his way.
We heard the leaves rustling from a far. I beamed out of the entrance when figures neared us. The elders led the way holding lamps with Alpha Elijah and Luna Catherine following. Lincoln's silhouette towered behind them. His greyish green eyes piercing me even from metres away. I noticed the two well built guards, walking behind him. I wondered why they were necessary.
My father immediately walked in front of me in a manner of defence. I tapped his shoulder, but he wouldn't budge.
Lincoln's heavy footsteps hit the wooden floor. I watched him from behind my dad. He knuckles were bruised severely, his hair slightly wet, looking like he raked it in place with his fingers just now. He wore a wrinkled shirt, with three buttons undone. It seemed like he didn't even care about his appearance.
The parents nodded at each other, while the elders sat before us.
"Lincoln. Amelia. Please come and sit before us." Anthea spoke.
As I stepped forward, Lincoln did the same and we sat in front of the elders.
Ragnar cleared his throat before speaking, "as David spoke to us yesterday, he mentioned his daughter Amelia, wanted to end the mate bond she shares with Lincoln."
"The reason because she couldn't look past his former relationship. You feel like the mate bond is the only reason Lincoln is caring for you. Is that right Amelia?"
"Yes." I nodded. Lincoln, who had been eerily quiet, scoffed at my reply.
"My dear, aren't you willing to at least try before deciding?" Anthea asked. "The goddess chose you as an Alpha's mate and not only that you're supposed to be the Luna of this very pack."
"I'm sure there's someone out there supposed to be the Luna of this pack." I fiddled with my fingers. Lincoln could have clearly marked Sarah sooner or later if I hadn't come back.
"Lincoln, anything you have to say?" Ragnar asked.
He shrugged, "mate or not! I love her regardless. If she has doubts that I'm only acting this way because of the bond, then I'll prove her wrong once the ties have been broken." He looked behind me where my father stood. "And when I claim her as mine then, nothing and no one can stop me."
I fought back the sense of relief that rushed into me thinking he'll make it up to me after the rejection. To be honest only time will tell. I couldn't have my hopes up high. This is Lincoln Hunters after all, I could imagine a queue of pretty women lining up in front of his house at the news of our parting.
Anthea began lighting up the candles around the room.
"This mate bond, was created by the goddess herself and since one of you isn't willing to break it, Anthea and I are going to humbly ask the moon goddess to do it instead." Ragnar opened up an old book of worship, and ran his finger through the pages. "When the bond breaks, you both will be free from identifying each others unique scents, their presence won't affect you and their touch will no longer excite you. But..." he looked up from the book at the both of us. "It only takes one marking from either one of you to bring the bond back. To unite yourselves together again. Understood?"
"Without a doubt." Lincoln said as he pulled out a small decanter out of his pocket and gulped it. It was liquor. He's been drinking. That explained his messy appearance.
I glanced at him in shock, at his behaviour in front of the elders, while Luna Catherine hissed from the back at her son. Who didn't seem to care.
"Let's start then." Anthea sat beside Ragnar.
"One second!" Lincoln held his index finger up, after throwing the decanter to the guard at the entrance. How much did this man drink? It could take bottles to intoxicate a wolf like him.
He turned to me, his tipsy eyes stared at mine. He narrowed his eyes at me. "Don't pout! I might kiss you. Again and again and again. And then fuck the rejection procedure." His words slurred.
Luckily his father called him, asking Lincoln to pull himself together. "When all this is over, promise me you'll give me a chance."
I nodded before looking at Anthea and Ragnar.
"She's very stubborn." He mumbled to himself. The elders held a knowing smile, I couldn't decipher what it meant.
"Hold my hands both of you. I want the families to step back a little." Anthea instructed.
Placing my hand into hers, I looked at her. While Lincoln placed his hand in hers, I felt him gaze at me. I took a deep breath, hoping this finishes soon.
Ragnar came up to us with a red ribbon, and a lit candle. He tied the end of one ribbon around my pinky and the other end around Lincoln's. He placed the candle between us on the table.
Anthea chanted a few words, calling upon the goddess. A swift air blew into the room, I gasped when I felt someone's presence around me. I looked at Lincoln, to see him completely emotionless, his eyes darkened than their usual greyish green.
"O' moon goddess, mother of wolves, I summon you this day to accept the rejection of two mates, Lincoln Hunters and Amelia Lovecraft. No longer willing to be bonded by your ties. Let them break free and lead their life as solitary individuals." As Anthea spoke those words, the candle before us, glowed, brighter and bigger.
Something in me wanted to stop the whole process, I began feeling agitated. I looked towards Lincoln, only to see him looking at me, defencelessly. He shook his head at me, almost feeling the same way about the rejection. He didn't want this to happen.
Before I could begin to overthink, I looked away, swallowing my cries.
Letting go of our hands, Anthea held the ribbon and brought it above the fire. She kept murmuring words to the goddess, it was when the flames rose up to the ribbon. Immediately setting fire to the red material.
I held onto my breath when felt like my insides were on fire. Hot tears trailed down my cheeks. With trembling lips, I screamed in pain. Holding on my heart I could feel like my nerves were a blaze.
Lincoln's fist pounded on the table, shaking up the whole room. His head hung back and his chest heaving. He growled in pain, his fangs began to appear.
"Keep them apart." Ragnar said. The guards walked towards Lincoln and my father came up to me. He held me by the shoulder trying to make me stand but to no avail. My legs gave up on me, making me fall to the ground. I didn't know how it felt because the pain inside me was already too much to bare. Lincoln roared before lunging to me. The two guards held him back with great force, and he still seemed untamed. That's when Alpha Elijah jumped in pushing him by his chest.
My dad picked me up in a swift move and carried me away while Lincoln went ballistic inside the elder's hut.
