Amelia Lovecraft

I woke up somewhere around four early in the morning, from Lincoln's bed. The sun hadn't risen yet. The bed was empty which meant Lincoln didn't sleep here. I tried getting up but only to be held back by a heavy object laying over my stomach . More like a heavy hand. I looked to my side as Lincoln slept on an armchair with his arm extended to hold me. His head leaned back, completely shirtless with only his pants on. He was quite the sight under the moon. Through the window I watched the moon looking down at us. After all, the dots did connect, bringing me here right now.

I felt safe.

I felt happy.

I felt completely whole being beside Lincoln.

Am I deciding too quickly? I asked myself. With Lincoln so close to me, I could hardly think about anything apart from him.

"Mia?" Lincoln spoke in a groggy voice.

"Why are you sleeping on the chair?" I asked quietly.

He rubbed my stomach, unaware of the effect it did to me. "You're feeling okay baby? Need something?" He yawned.

"You could lay on the other side of the bed, you know."

"I didn't wanna hurt you."

"No you won't, that looks really uncomfortable. Plus the bed is big enough."

He agreed before walking to the bathroom.

I winced as I sat up from laying on one side. I looked down at my shoulder to see the scratch that's healing rapidly.

"Mia. What do you need?" Lincoln hurried to me from out of the bathroom. "Lay back."

I looked at his face, he was still sleepy and could be asleep for another couple of hours.

He blew on my shoulder as he bent down to me, "does it hurt?"

"No I'm okay Lincoln, you need to sleep." I told him, swinging my legs off the bed. "My shoulder feels sore. And I'm not so sleepy." I sighed.

"Alright then, let me take you for a walk." He stood up, I held onto his arm.

"No, go to sleep. Do you mind if I just walk to the kitchen for a coffee maybe?" I asked.

"You don't have to ask Mia. You could've just ordered me to bring you coffee."

"That's not necessary Alpha." I chuckled, standing up from the bed.

"Are you sure my little Luna?" He kissed my forehead.

"I'm ordering you to sleep. On the bed. Ill just go for a walk and be back before you wake up."

He smiled at me. "Penny is in kitchen. Ask her for anything you need."

"Sure." Lincoln walked to his side of the bed and pulled the pillow I laid on under him and slept on it. I couldn't help but laugh at how cute it looked.

Down at the kitchen, there was about three maids already working.

"He follows her like a lost puppy. It's adorable." One of the maids giggled as she spoke to the other one. They both seemed to be making some sort of dough. By the faucet was another older looking lady probably in her 50s, scrubbing a few dishes. She made no conversation with the other two. There was no Penny in sight.

"Luna." One of the two maids, jumped as she saw me approaching them. She accidentally dropped a wooden spatula on the floor. I was quick to pick it up before her.

"I'm so sorry." She covered her mouth. I could only laugh at how someone would be petrified to look at me.

"It's okay." I took the spoon to the faucet to clean it up.

"Leave it!" The older woman by the sink, told me coldly without even one look at me. I gently placed the spatula inside the faucet and stepped back.

I didn't have time to think of the woman as the other two maids, rushed to me.

"Luna, how can we help you?" They smiled warmly.

"Is your shoulder okay?"

"Would you like to eat something Luna?"

They kept asking.

"Please call me Mia. And I'm fine thank you." I looked at the lady who had her back to me again. Something about her aura bothered me.

"You're so beautiful." One of the maids squealed.

"We're Rosalie's friends. She said lovely things about you and I see it's true." The other spoke. I smiled at their excitement.

"Lincoln told me, Penny should be in the kitchen. Is she here?" I asked and the two scurried away looking for her.

"Alpha! You call him by the title." The old lady turned to me now.

"Lincoln?" She asked again mockingly, while wiping her hands on a napkin. I was completely dumbfounded by her attitude towards me. "You think you can just waltzed in here, commanding me around." She huffed looking at me from head to toe. "Whatever this is going on between you two is only because of the filthy mate bond I tell you girl." She came up to me now. "I have seen your Alpha. I have seen him with you since yesterday and I have also seen him with Sarah for years." She laughed at me.

"You think he cares for you silly girl. You should've seen him with Sarah when he was really in love." She spat. I felt a sudden pierce into my heart. Leaning against the counter, I stared at the lady before me. "He was in love. Not even the longing for a mate could stop him." She haunted me with every single word she spoke. "Reject him and see how long it takes for him to bring another in your place. Maybe bring back Sarah perhaps."

I felt stupid. It only took me one night and I'm already weak in the hands of Lincoln. What was I even thinking? I turned away from her, not willing to give her the satisfaction of my sadness.

"Mia? Up so early?" Penny walked in just then with a basket full of blueberries. "I was at the garden." She handed the lady the basket to rinse the berries. "Since you loved the peach cobbler last night, I was thinking of making blueberry pie for today. How does that sound?" She looked at me with glee.

I shook my head at her, "I think I should be heading home today Penny, there's so much to catch up on." The lady turned towards me with an evil smirk before carrying on with her chores. I didn't know what her intention was, but I was glad she gave me an eye opener.

Penny and the other two girls stopped whatever they were doing and looked at me. Their expressions were dull. "Mia you're leaving?" I nodded. "Can I have a cup of coffee please?" I quickly changed the subject.

He was in love with her.

The lady's voice kept echoing in my head. I sat by the island, carried away in my own thoughts as I waited for a cup of coffee. I need to go home as soon as possible. Away from this place.

"You seem tired sweetheart." Penny came up to me with a mug. I mumbled a thank you for the coffee, ignoring her comment. My eyes followed as the lady walked out of the kitchen.

"Did she say something to you Mia?" Penny spoke in all seriousness. "That's Patricia, was Sarah's personal maid. She's not the happiest that our Alpha sent Sarah away." She shrugged like it was nothing.

The next couple of hours I spent roaming around the garden, not being able to go back to Lincoln's room. I just waited till he woke up so I could just leave from this place.

"Mia your parents are here." Penny announced. It was seven in the morning now. Lincoln was still in bed, he's been sleepless since the Kayden matter. I rubbed my temples before sliding off the kitchen barstool.

I quietly walked up to his room, to watch him lie down on his stomach. He seemed to be in deep sleep. I made it to the bathroom without making much noise and freshened up to go see my parents. Grabbing the robe, I wore it before going down the stairs.

A smile made its way on my lips as I saw mum and dad sitting in the living room.

"Hi." I spoke drawing either attention.

"Oh baby." My mother rushed to me, hugging me so tight as if I was about to vanish into thin air.

"Mama my shoulder." I hissed. She gently pulled down the robe from my shoulder to inspect the wound.

"David she's healed really well. I told you, leaving her with her mate would do it." She smiled, but dad simply nodded.

As soon as mum let me go, he came up to me and held me ever so gently.

"If it wasn't for Lincoln, we could've lost you muffin." He spoke with much agony.

"I know, but I'm fine now." I reassured my father. He only sighed.

"Mia!" Lincoln's voice boomed as he walked down the stairs with long strides, pulling down a T-shirt. "You should've woken me up." He looked at me, while I rested on my dad's chest.

"Alpha Lincoln." Mum and dada spoke in unison.

"Please just call me Lincoln." He shook hands with them. Dad stood there holding no emotion but mama gave Lincoln a very welcoming smile.

"Thank you so much for doing this for Mia. If you haven't been there on time. We might have lost my daughter." My mum choked almost on the verge of crying.

"You don't have to thank me. She is my mate and I will protect her at all times." Lincoln replied sincerely.

My father nodded at his words. "Now that you've healed muffin. How about we go home now?" He asked me.

"Yes, let me grab my stuff." I was about to leave to get my handbag, but Lincoln's hand grabbed me.

"Where exactly do you think you're going?" His jaw hardened.

"Home." I answered rather coldly. A part of me felt bad for doing this to him, while the other still replayed the words the maid told me. He loved another.

"You are home Amelia." He gritted his teeth, his hold on me tightened in a possessive manner.

"That's not for you to decide Lincoln. My daughter comes home with me." Dad replied this time. "Thank you for caring for her. Now it's time to take her with us."

"Who the fuck do you think you are to come in between my mate and I?" He growled, his eyes showed how Kai was on the verge of coming out. My parents were taken aback by his sudden change of demeanour.

"Lincoln! That's my father." I shouted at him.

"I don't fucking care! You're not leaving me." He demanded.

"David, we should go." My mum whispered in fright.

"I'm not leaving my daughter here alone!" Dad stood his ground.

"LEAVE. NOW!" Lincoln pulled me by the waist into his chest. "She stays with me forever. She's mine!" I could feel his nails digging into my skin. For a second, I noticed how Kai took over before Lincoln came back.

"It's her mate David. Let them be." My mum tried convincing my dad again.

"No!"

"She's not safe out there David. Mia is safe with me." Lincoln spoke in a calmer tone than before.

My father scoffed, "if you hadn't realized, my daughter was in danger because of you!"

"Which is why it's my responsibility to keep her safe." I hated it every time he only said it was his responsibility. I tried wiggling out of his hold, but it was to no avail.

"Lincoln I need to go home." I said, pulling away from him harshly. "Let me go get my stuff. I'll be back." I looked at my parents before going upstairs.

I climbed up the stairs with Lincoln right on my tail.
