DISCLAIMER: Probably shoulda mentioned this earlier but there's underage drinking in this so yea don't do that kids. Also never go to parties alone.

I have boobs???

Looking at my reflection in Ella's full-length mirror, it's still difficult to believe what a difference the push-up bra that's been patiently waiting in the back of my closet makes. I think one of my aunts bought it for me and I never wore it because my shirts are so baggy and my chest is so flat that I doubt it would make a difference. It does, however, make breathing significantly more difficult.

I feel kind of exposed in just a cami and denim shorts but the last party taught me that if I wear anything more, I'll probably drown in my own sweat.

Hopping onto Taty's bed, I lengthen my neck to look over at where Ella's lining her eyes. "Your top is so cute," I compliment enviously. Her small waist is the type that my mom dreams of me achieving. I'm more of a door shape than an hourglass.

"Yours too!" She finishes her makeup.

She looks so pretty. My friends always look good but it amazes me sometimes how much they can transform if they want to. We both put coats and sweats over our outfits on the off chance that Taty's mom comes home early. Taty's mom usually works overnight while my parents seem to be always home.

Taty steps into the room in a blue top and white shorts that pop against her dark chocolate skin tone, and tosses a bag of chips at Ella, who hasn't eaten anything. If anyone can avoid getting stains on white shorts at a party, it's Taty.

"Let's go. Amelia, you're taking your car, right?" Taty checks.

"Yeah, I need to grab Daniel's protein powder on the way." He only uses an ultra-special brand that is sold at one store in our city, which happens to be on the way to the house.

"Text me when you get there," Taty instructs. "Don't go in alone."

"Yes, ma'am."

---

It takes me 15 minutes just to find the exact protein powder brand and flavor that he wants and it's expensive too. Sheesh. When I finally get to the house, Taty and Ella are already waiting.

Because it's not the first game weekend, the party is noticeably less crowded than last time, meaning I can walk without being stuck between two sweaty bodies. As soon as we walk in, I spot Jaden chugging a pretty hefty amount of alcohol straight from the bottle, as guys cheer him on and slap his back. He finishes the bottle triumphantly and wipes his mouth with his wrist before pumping his fist in the air. Spotting me, he waves in my direction.

Well, at least he doesn't seem sad anymore.

---

I like to dance. I'm not good at it, at all. Also, I don't want to drink but the room is dark so my inhibitions are still lowered and I move to the music kind of on beat. Meanwhile, Ella is drinking jungle juice like a madwoman. It doesn't take much time for her face to start glowing red.

"Dude, you're sooo hot," she begins to slur, stumbling in place.

Taty and I exchange a look. "I'm gonna grab her some water," I shout so Taty can hear me.

"Stay in eyesight," Taty warns while propping a giggling Ella up.

I trudge through empty bottles and all kinds of trash to grab the last mini water bottles scattered across the floor. As I crouch down to grab the last one that rolled away, a long arm grabs it before I can.

Sugar and smoke.

"Your friends are cute," Zack says in greeting as he cracks open the bottle.

"Wait! Those are for my..." My voice trails off as he starts to chug. "Friends," I finish lamely.

"The one in the blue single?" he asks, staring at me.

I break our eye contact to look over at gorgeous Taty with the thick hair and thicker thighs.

"She's not stupid enough to hook up with you."

He grins as if he knows that I'm wrong. "Don't be jealous, Princess," he remarks as he reaches out and straightens out my cami strap, his fingers lingering against my skin. Trying to hide my reaction, I squat down again in search of another bottle. He stares down at me for a second, contemplating, and doesn't stop staring as I get up. "You look good."

Slightly stunned, I look away from him and fan my face "Liar. I'm sweaty." Still, a blossom of some feeling I can't describe forms inside me.

His face breaks into a wide smile, lightening up. "You're a good dancer," he adds.

My face colors. "Now I know you're lying."

"Yeah, that one was a lie," he agrees and steps towards me. "As always, you need to loosen up." My breath catches as he reaches out and squeezes my shoulders.

My eyes widen and I rapidly try to collect my thoughts. "I... My friends need me," I mumble and stalk off to where Taty is eyeing me suspiciously and Ella is still in a fit of giggles.

"Who was that?" Taty asks as I hand her a bottle.

"No one," I answer as nonchalantly as possible. "He thought you were cute, though."

"He looked at me for one millisecond. He was staring at your ass for a good, long time though," she counters.

My face flushes red. "No, he wasn't," I deny quickly.

"Mhm," Taty says with a sassy, raised brow. "I could read his thoughts and turn that shit into a slutty Wattpad novel. That boy wants you." Her tone is more warning than encouraging and I don't blame her.

"I'm sure he flirts with everyone." I brush it off but her expression remains wary. "Don't worry, Taty. I'm not stupid."

"I know you're not stupid, honey. I'm just saying..." Her voice disappears as an unfamiliar arm wraps around me. Taty's eyebrows shoot up and so do mine as I realize it's Jaden who's on me like a koala.

"Amelia," Jaden slurs and stumbles. "You're the fucking best, you know that?" He's struggling to stay standing and slowly starts to lean on me. He's a 6'2" football player and I'm barely 5'2". I have to use both of my arms just to hold him up.

Jayden looks at Taty, barely keeping his eyes open. "This girl sent me the best math notes of my life, you know that?"

Taty gives him a look like a mom looking at a little boy. "Sweetie, where are your friends? Where's your girlfriend?" she asks, not seeing me slashing my hand across my throat.

Shit.

"My girlfriend?!" Jaden repeats.

Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit.

"She's gone!" he wails. "She left me and took her perfect tits with her!"

He starts bawling and clutches onto me, nearly toppling me over. Oh my gosh. I pat his back awkwardly in an attempt to calm him down and he looks up at me with droopy eyes.

"You look like her," he whispers. I grimace at the alcohol on his breath. He's really fucking drunk. Comparing me to Lola is like comparing Cailou to Mr. Clean.

He touches a strand of my hair. "You have brown hair like her..." he whispers then lets go. "Fuck I miss her!"

Taty gives me a look and I shrug helplessly.

"I'm gonna yak!" Ella announces and puts her hand over her mouth.

Great timing.

"We need to go," Taty demands and I agree.

I try to get Jaden to look at me. "Hey, Jaden. I-"

"Woah there, big guy," Zack appears with a leggy redhead clasping onto his arm. He quickly moves out of her grasp and wraps Jaden's arm around his neck, lifting some of the weight off of me. We exchange glances.

"Zack, I need to go," I tell him, nudging my head towards Ella, who looks greener every second.

"Ok." He nods. "Give me his-"

"Zack," Jaden cuts in, putting his face right in front of Zack so their foreheads are almost touching. "I love you, man. You're the hottest dude I ever seen. No homo."

I cringe. Even Jaden is attracted to Zack now?

Zack rolls his eyes. "Alright, we need to go."

He tries to pull Jaden off of me but Jaden shouts, "no!" and wraps both of his arms around me. My eyes are practically bugging out of their sockets.

"J..." Zack says.

"Stop! I want Lola!" he yells, looking straight at me.

What the hell. No. He can't possibly think I'M Lola.

"Amelia..." Taty starts.

"Go without me," I say. "I brought my car. I'll be fine. Ella needs a bathroom."

"I'm not leaving you," Taty replies.

"I need to yak," Ella gasps.

"Seriously, I'll be okay. Take her home," I insist.

Taty purses her lips, thinking for a while, and then whips her head towards Zack. "No funny business. If she isn't back soon, I'm calling the police."

For once, Zack is left speechless and I'm the one holding in a laugh.

Taty comes closer to me. "Turn your location on and keep texting me. If something goes wrong, the code word's banana," she whispers so Zack can't hear. I laugh but I'm grateful for her caution.

"I'll see you soon," I assure her.

She nods and shoots Zack an "I'm watching you" glare before carrying Ella away.
