《Kings of Hawkings [bxb]》Chapter 49

Jonas watched everyone leave the room, and he followed behind them, blending into the groups that split up. He heard the conversations of where they would station themselves and joked about what they would do to him once the found him.

Although he knew what to expect from these people, he still felt an ache inside when he heard the familiar voices. These people used to call him a friend. And yet they are all part of this horrible game.

Jonas walked with them down the hall and quickly slipped away into a spare classroom. He opened the window and climbed on the edge and found the familiar footholds that he would use to climb up to the roof of the building. The roof was always off limits, but it was his favorite hiding spot so he found a way to get up there. But he also had a perfect view of everyone moving around.

When he did, he sat down with his back against the wall and picked up his phone and called the other Kings on a conference call.

Sam was the first to scream into the phone. "Jo! What the fuck is wrong with you?"

"We deserve an explanation!" Rodgers yelled.

Millan's voice was quiet. "That was a fucked up move, Jo."

Jonas listened to the beeps on the other side of the phone. "How's Hugh?"

They knew something was happening because Jonas was whispering. Millan sighed. "Stable. The transfusion had no issues. Most of his color is back and they expect him to wake up any minute."

Jonas sighed with relief. "They left an invitation after they stabbed him."

The other Kings cursed under their breath. "And you were stupid enough to comply?" Sam asked harshly.

Jonas chuckled coldly. "Perhaps I am. But I also wanted to see what they're planning."

"What did you find out?" Rodgers asked.

Jonas' breath trembled a little. "They took Lucy and Emilia. If I dont show myself, they will do something to them to lure me out."

Sam roared. "Motherfuckers!"

"St. Vincent's has always been violent and underhanded. Its the dark past that no one wants to acknowledge, and would rather hide it with politics and money. But this bullshit is their true face. They are all reckless, malevolent assholes." Jonas dropped his head to his chest.

He remembered all of the bullshit they pulled on him. If he wasn't strong or quick enough, he would be dead. He truly understood that now. Everything was escalated when Lukas started to join into the games, and not only did he almost lose his life, but Hugh was at risk too. They would attack anyone close to him, just to see him break.

"What should we do?" Millan asked. If Hugh woke up and knew that his sister was in danger as well, he would rip his stitches and bleed out again to destroy these people.

"I need to get the girls out of here. But in the meantime, I need you to weaken them. They are going out now to search for me." Jonas said.

"Fine. If we see those bastards, we will tear them to shreds." Rodgers said darkly.

"They have weapons so watch each other's backs carefully." Jonas warned.

Millan snorted. "Fucking dirty fighters."

Jonas sighed. "I'll set up everything here, and I'll call you all over when it's time for our final card."

"And what is our final card?" Sam asked.

Jonas laughed. "Battle Royale."

They all laughed, knowing that this was the same plan as the Hunt, but they knew that Jonas had a little more up his sleeve.

"For now, break them if you see them. I'm going for the girls now." Jonas explained. The other Kings wished each other luck and disconnected.

Jonas watched the mob disperse. Some stayed on campus while the others started to drive down the hill, searching for their prey. There were a few people monitoring the campus, but they were relaxed, never believing that Jonas would return here.

Once he saw the lights of the cars disappear down the hill, Jonas quietly scaled back down the wall and crawled into an empty classroom silently. He was impressed with how much easier it was to climb the walls, but remembered that when he used to do this, he was injured most of the time, and his battered body would ache. Now, his body was healthy, he just felt unrelenting anger.

He cautiously made his way back to the classroom and heard the two girls crying inside.

"Shut up already!" A boy yelled.

"Ryan, they're scared. Stop yelling at them." A meek voice responded, trying to calm the other.

There was a loud slap and Jonas heard someone stumble.

"Try talking down to me again, and you'll get it worse, Troy." The boy addressed and Ryan threatened. "I took down Mad Dog, and I can take down you."

A chilliness enshrouded Jonas as he heard this. A small hiccup echoed in the room. "Hughie? What did you do to Hughie!?" Lucy yelled.

A cold laugh answered her. "Gutted the dog."

Within seconds, the door burst open and Ryan was slammed against the wall. He wanted to cry out but his throat was being squeezed by Jonas. Jonas lifted him so they were eye level, but this meant that Ryan was struggling to stand on the tips of toes. He paled and grasped at the hand holding him up, but he quivered when he looked into the malignant eyes of Jonas. It was like Death itself was gripping his throat.

Troy started to shake and tried to back away but was stopped by the quiet command from Jonas. "Sit down."

Troy felt his knees weaken and he collapsed into a chair.

Jonas glared at Ryan. "Say it again. Tell me what you did."

Ryan pulled at Jonas' hand, feeling the lack of air affecting him. He couldn't muster out a word. Jonas clicked his tongue with annoyance and dropped his hand, but did not step back.

Ryan coughed violently, his neck already bruising. "I... followed... orders..." He said between coughs.

"Who's?" Jonas growled.

"Lukas.... Please...I had no... choice..." He started to beg.

Jonas only laughed which made his blood run cold. "Neither do I." He pulled back his fist and ran into his face. The impact made Ryan's head recoil and smack back into the wall, making him cry out in pain.

His fist pulled back again and he landed another blow... and another... and another... He held Ryan up by his collar to make sure he could get extra blows. He kept hitting although Ryan's eyes were dazed and blood was pouring from his nose, mouth, and various cuts on his face.

"Was it entertaining? Did you enjoy it? Let's see what breaks first - my fist or your face!" He punched with every statement.

When his head wobbled, Jonas threw him to the side, letting him fall heavily on the ground and he rounded on Troy. Troy trembled so much he fell out of the chair.

"I... I was not ok with this!" He said hastily when Jonas pulled him up from the floor.

Jonas sneered. "Then I'll let you off easy." He pulled his hand back and crashed it into Troy's gut, making him gasp for air.

He tossed him back on the ground and went to the two young women who were trembling. Jonas untied their arms and checked their wounds, but luckily it was just rope burn on their wrists.

Lucy ran into Jonas' arms and started to sob, while Emilia stood to the side trying to hold it together. But Jonas reached out and pulled her into his hug and held both of the frightened girls.

"I'm so sorry." He mumbled.

"Jo, my brother..." Lucy was hesitant to ask.

"He's fine and recovering. Something as simple as a knife won't take him down."

He turned towards the windows and patted Lucy on the head. He waited until they both calmed down before letting them go. "I'm going to need your help with something."

He handed them cameras that were in his bag. "Hide in a classroom, but try to film the courtyard."

"You're going to catch them red handed?" Emilia asked. "But it didn't work with the Hunt earlier this year."

Jonas shook his head. "We did that all wrong. Someone just filmed the brawl, and nothing else. This time, we're going all out."

Emilia was confused. "All out?"

Jonas laughed. "Eli has been building out a plan for a long time now. We're just adding to it and telling our story."

He ruffled their hair and quickly picked the pockets of Ryan and Troy, finding their phones. He handed them to the girls before looking out the door into the hall. "It's clear. Stay together, and stay hidden. If you have to choose between filming and keeping hidden, stay hidden. Do not let them see you or catch you." He warned. "I need to get both of you out safely, but I can't until this bullshit is resolved. So use these phones if anything happens."

He watched them run down the hall and slip into another classroom and made sure to hear them lock the door. He turned to the two boys, one unconscious and the other trembling on the floor. He tied them up and tossed them in a corner. "Not a word." He warned Troy who nodded quickly, showing he understood the situation.

He sighed and messaged the King's group chat.

: The girls are safe. Can't get them out just yet, but they are hidden.

: Thank god. Well, as a present, we're delivering some bastards to join Hugh in the hospital

: You were right about weapons. Too bad they're still weak

: Good job guys. Stay safe.

Jonas rubbed his tired eyes. Dealing with this school was taking years off of his young life. He hopped out the window and landed in the courtyard that held some negative memories. He would have to create some even more unpleasant memories here, but he prayed it would be the last. The last brawl.

He set up a few cameras and called Jaiden to have him check the feed that was streaming into his private cloud drive. Jaiden confirmed everything was running smoothly and was on standby.

Jonas climbed the tree in the courtyard and settled into a large branch, watching the fireworks light up the sky, as if signalling the end of the Wolf Hunt's prelude and welcoming the oncoming storm.
