《Kings of Hawkings [bxb]》Chapter 40

True to his world, Lukas checked in with Jonas the next day. Although Jonas ignored it, another text came in the day after that and so on. Jonas tried blocking his number, but Lukas jut got another phone and started messaging him. Jonas and Hugh just learned to ignore it.
: Wolfie! Have you changed your mind yet?
: Have you blocked me again? You know better than that.
: I knew you wouldn't block me again. Tell me, are you ready for our Wolf Hunt?
: I'm even letting you choose the date - as long as you give in during the given timeframe.
: You should check out this forum. Everyone is betting on when you will cave.
Much to Jonas and Hugh's frustration, Lukas sent him an invite to a special St. Vincent's forum. It was for select Elites that had no ties with Jonas and they were all discussing how they will be hunting the Wolf soon. They were always so scared when they met him face to face, but so brave in their chat. Goddamn Keyboard Warriors.
: Did you see? Jackson just lost $100 because you haven't given in yet. Honestly, I know I will be the winner.
: Don't you want to know what date I selected you will say yes to me?
: Why spoil the surprise. You will know when that day arrives.
: I look forward to seeing you crumble... again
: Just a few days until Christmas! Are you ready to give me your present?
: How's your baby brother?
Jonas and Hugh were standing in the kitchen of the common room together. Travis and the others left to go shopping, so it was just the two of them. But Jonas was gripping a coffee mug and trembling while Hugh was trying to comfort him.
"You spoke with him yesterday morning, right?" Hugh asked. He was equally concerned about the last message that Lukas sent.
Jonas nodded. "We normally talk at nights too, but sometimes he's busy so it not every night. But he didn't even leave me a message this morning."
He was terrified to look, but he even tried to log into the cloud storage where they automatically uploaded the videos of their abuse. But to his horror, the password was changed and he couldn't access it. He just checked it a couple of days ago and it was fine.
He roughly sat down the mug, splashing untouched coffee on the counter. It was already dark out.
At that moment, Travis, Jaiden, and the other Kings came into the dorm. Jonas rushed up to Travis and held him tightly by the arms, making him drop his bags. He let out a little yelp, alarming the others. "Have you heard from Eli?"

Hugh placed an arm on Jonas'. "Jo, let him go."
Jonas shuddered, realizing how tightly he was holding on to Travis. He mumbled out an apology as he backed up.
Travis was put off and rubbed his arms. He gave Jonas a glare. "We talked yesterday morning."
"That was the last time you talked to him? Nothing last night or this morning?" Jonas asked nervously.
Hugh bit his lip. "Not even a text message, Travis?"
Travis shrugged. "He's probably busy. He mentioned the holiday party he had to go to tonight, so I figured that was it."
Jonas cursed and his hands shook a little. He knew how dangerous one night could be with no contact in the Spencer family. He pulled out his phone and dialed Eli's number and cursed again when it went straight to voicemail.
"You said a holiday party, right?"
Travis' annoyed look softened a little. "I'm sure his is busy, Jo. Calm down."
Jonas cut him down with a glare. "You don't fucking know what you're talking about."
Jonas flipped through his contacts and landed on a name and dialed. The call was answered, but the background was noisy. He heard a soft voice laugh. "Hang on, I'm going to step out and take this call." She laughed lightly while Jonas growled with impatience. "She's someone who I met during the Harvard tour."
He heard her heels clack quickly and a door close. "Jonas? Are you ok?"
"Emilia, I'm sorry, I would never call like this but I need to check something."
When he said her name, everyone but Hugh flinched. They knew that she was his ex at St. Vincent's and didn't expect Jonas to call her. Least of all, they never expected his voice to be almost pleading with anyone from St. Vincent's. At that moment, they realized that they really didn't understand the implications of Eli not contacting them.
"Of course, what's going on? You don't sound well." Knowing him for so long, she knew something was wrong and her concern was genuine.
"Your family is hosting the holiday party tonight, right?"
"Like always." She said with a light laugh.
He sighed. "Are my parents there?"
"I think I saw them. I can check for sure."
"Please. And can you tell me if Eli came with them?" His voice cracked a little, making Hugh wrap his arms around him and held him from behind.
"Hold on, and put yourself on mute. I'll let you hear the conversation."
"Thank you, Mila." He called her the nickname that hadn't left his mouth for a year and a half. He heard a small gasp on her end, and then muted his mic so no one on the other side could hear him.

Hugh tapped his shoulder, curious about what was happening on the other line. Jonas turned on the speakerphone so everyone one in the room could hear.
There was classical music playing and a lot of pretentious laughter that made the boys shuddered. Then Emilia's voice sounded. "Mr. and Mrs. Spencer! You look lovely tonight."
"My dear, you look stunning." Denise said with a greasy voice. "You're family always host the most beautiful parties."
"You're too kind. We really look forward to your Easter Party. My fondest memories were hunting for eggs with the boys. Too bad we got too old for that."
More polite laughed and Jonas was trembling with impatience and anger. Hugh leaned in and whispered, "She has to do this to not make them suspicious of you. Just a little longer, sweetheart."
Denise laughed. "Well, this time, we will allow you to have some of our mimosas instead."
"Finally! I have always been tempted the grab a glass or two to try it." There was a pause. "I don't see Eli yet. Did he come separately?"
There was a cough from his father. "That boy fell ill. He is at home recovering."
Jonas' phone clattered on the floor and all the color in his face drained from his face. Hugh picked up the phone as Emilia was giving some reason to walk away from the Spencers. Her heels clicking faster, as if she was jogging.
"Joey? Are you there?" Her voice was panicked.
Hugh unmuted the phone. "Emilia, this is Hugh. We're here."
"Joey told me to tell him if Eli ever took a sick day. I didn't think about it much before, but something is off. Where is Eli?"
Travis was crying at this point, not sure what was happening but knew something bad must have occured to cause Jonas and Emilia to panic.
Hugh held Jonas' face. "Jo, sweetheart. What are the next steps. What do we do?"
Jonas' voice was cold and detached. "I'm going to go to that house."
Emilia gasped a little on the line. "Are you sure, Joey? We're just next door, so your parents are bound to know that you stopped by."
"I know where he is and they cannot stop me." He said darkly.
"What are you arriving in? I'll let the guards know so they will let you in." She asked.
Sam quickly spoke up. "A black Audi."
Jonas shot him a look but Sam shook his head. "Don't fight us Jo, we're all coming with you."
They hung up and threw on their jackets. They ran out of the dorms and piled into the sedan. Hugh gave Sam the address and Rodgers navigated while Sam sped through the city. It started to make them uneasy as the entered a part of the city they never dared to tread. It was the 1% area. Everything was pruned and trimmed and nothing was out of place.
Perfect lawns and perfect houses. But sam kept driving deeper into the neighborhood and houses just got bigger. Sam was nervous as they approached a guard house with a gate blocking off the road. Sam slowed and rolled down the window.
"Evening, boys." The guards looked at them suspiciously. Hugh was sitting on Jonas' lap and wearing a beanie, hiding his colored hair.
Sam smiled brightly. "Good evening, sir!"
"Where are you coming from?" He didn't like the looks of the boys as they all seemed to be well built.
Hugh leaned forward. "Please don't tell Mila we showed up like this. She will be pissed. Thankfully, Eli has our suits stored at his place."
He raised an eyebrow, softening because he recognized the names.
Hugh patted Sam's shoulders. "This idiot completely forgot to get Mila a Christmas present. My dad has been running him ragged at the law firm, so to be fair, he can't remember if he ate lunch. But how can he ask her out without a present at her party? We had to help him out and just hope she doesn't chew us out too much."
The guard visibly relaxed hearing the story. "Well, she warned me you all were coming, but I have to tell you, she didn't sound happy. You seriously forgot the present?" He laughed and patted Sam's arm through the open window.
Sam groaned and acted along. "Forget about the present? I completely forgot the date for the party. She reminded me about 10 times this week and I still messed it up. She is going to kill me."
The guard open the gate with a grin. "Good luck! She'll calm down soon, she's a good girl."
Sam grinned. "She's the best!"
He drove off quickly and followed the instructions to mansion with a large cobblestone driveway. As they drove up, the lights automatically turned on, lighting their way. They could see the large party at the house next door, and no one seemed to notice the out of place car park behind a Jaguar. If the car was out of place, the group of boys how climbed out of the car were even more misplaced.
The King of Hawkings had no place in the socialite district.

Magriculture (Rewrite)
When Aurum Industries announced the first Full Immersion Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (FIVRMMORPG if you're hip) Limitless Online, most people saw it as an opportunity to live out their sword and sorcery fantasies. John, however, saw it as the opening of a new and as of yet uncrowded job market. One he was willing, and eager, to exploit. Determined to make money through virtual hard work and effort, John sets his sights not on the heights of magic or the perfection of the sword, but instead upon the tilling of the soil and the sowing of seeds as he explores the wide and wonderful world of magical agriculture all from the comfort of his own bed. Disclaimer: This is a rewrite of the original "Magriculture", which some of you may have read. (To those who did, you have my deepest gratitude, it is absolutely because of your patronage and comments that this rewrite happened, and I feel the story is better for it.) That said, this story is not a complete and polished work, there will be mistakes and errors, an occasionally these errors may mean I need to rewrite portions of the story (as of this posting the story has gone through two major rewrites already, and I'm seriously hoping there won't be need of a third.) Because of this, there may at times be changes. Such changes may be as small as editing a few numbers (such as going back and changing how much mana an object holds) or it may force me to re-write entire chapters (this has happened once already, and I'm really hoping it doesn't happen again, but... life). Minor re-writes will probably never be posted here. Major rewrites probably will. Anyway, what this boils down to is: If you're looking for a fully cohesive story with few to no errors and publisher level editing, this is not the story for you. If you're looking for a cohesive plot that's more than "Man farms, man farms, man farms well, man maybe makes money" you're probably also in the wrong place, but I will attempt to entertain you anyway.
