《Kings of Hawkings [bxb]》Chapter 32

Jonas knew where to avoid the Elites' eyes, so he brought Hugh around the back and snuck into the building. No one was in the halls wandering around in the Elite building so they didn't have to worry about running into anyone unsavory.
Jonas reached a door and peeked in the window. He grinned and winked at Hugh. "Ready?"
"Always, sweetheart."
They quietly opened the door and entered a large lecture room. The teacher was lecturing about a short story and didn't bother looking up from her notes. Everyone in the class were sitting towards the front of the lecture hall, leaving the last few rows where Jonas and Hugh entered empty.
They were quiet enough that even the class didn't notice them enter. Hugh's eyes found Lukas and his eyes narrowed. He stepped forward, but his hand was grasped by Jonas. "Hold on, she's talking about my favorite short story."
Hugh huffed and leaned back against the wall and listened in.
"There are many theories about the meaning of The Destructors, but let's hear your interpretations."
A greasy voice echoed in the hall. "Obviously it's about how those who are lesser are searching to thoroughly dismantle the social construct that has a strong foundation, such has hierarchy and classes. In the end there is only chaos and destruction."
Hugh snorted. "Did we read the same story? Because I thought we were talking about Graham Greene's The Destructors, a short story written a little after World War II where the old social constructs and ladders were becoming irrelevant. The world changed and the character, Mr. Thomas, naively believed that social classes were everything that defined life. But his opinions were as worthless as he was when locked in his own outhouse. He could do nothing but watched his own house collapse. Those with backward thoughts are unable to stop the imminent change."
Jonas smirked. "I didn't know you liked this story too."
The class murmured amongst themselves, but never bothered to look back to Hugh. They figured he was some rejected Elite wannabe and didn't find him worthy to look at.
The same person who spoke before. "Change? I think your confused regarding the definition of destruction and change."
Jonas sighed. "Personally I believe that The Destructors have a theme that destruction is another form of creation. Greene even writes 'They worked with the seriousness of creators – and destruction after all is a form of creation'. Post-war, the world had to dismantle its old ideals and create new ones - adapt with the times. Mr. Thomas' position in the story can be seen more as a personification of a social system that should no longer exist. The foundation that has been housing him needed to be dismantled and dissolved in order for something new to grow from the rubble."

The teacher nodded. "This is a really good discuss-" She finally looked up with a smile but paled when she saw the two in their blue jackets and smirks. She gasped. "You!"
All the eyes in the classroom turned back towards them, many showing fear.
Hugh ignored them and turned to Jonas. "I like that theory. Man it's been years since I read it. Maybe we should find a copy somewhere."
Jonas nodded. "Not a bad idea. I can't believe it's not in my collection."
"We're already late, might was well make it day and go to the bookstore and lunch afterwards." Hugh suggested.
"Maybe ditch the others?" Jonas suggested.
Hugh grinned. "I like that idea."
By this time, the class was edging towards the door and tensed. They were thoroughly confused how these two can carry on a discussion and plan their day when they were knee deep in enemy territory. Only Lukas was standing in place, glaring at them.
"Wolf! What makes you think you the right to be here." He sneered. "Who allowed you to be off your leash in this building."
Jonas rolled his eyes and pushed himself off the wall. He maintained eye contact with Lukas as he made his way down the aisle. When he was face to face with Lukas he smiled and slapped the embroidered sigil with his name on the desk. The blood had mostly dried on his hands but it was still damp on the material. So when it hit the desk, the blood splattered a little. A number of people screamed.
"Lukas, you worked so hard taking this off of me. You shouldn't be so careless to lose it. Good thing I'm a good friend and am returning it to you."
Lukas laughed. "What? Didn't like your gift?"
Hugh growled. "I seriously have no idea how they call me insane when someone as fucked up as you is running around."
"What's the point of you mutts coming here." Lukas said and rolled his eyes.
Emilia stepped forward, giving them both nervous glances. "Guys, what is happening? You were best friends."
"Stay out of it, Emilia." Lukas growled.
He roughly pushed Emilia away making her stumble, but Jonas was quick to stop her fall. "You ok?" He asked quietly.

She nodded and backed away, looking embarrassed.
"Don't try to act gentlemanly. Everyone here knows how violent you are, Wolf." Lukas said.
Jonas chuckled coldly and made the others feel a shiver up their spine. "I am violent, but what's truly dangerous is a sociopath like you."
Hugh growled from the back of the lecture hall and slowly stalked up to the group, making the others scatter even more.
"Jo, let me just take care of him here and now."
Jonas shook his head. "I'm done here."
Hugh clicked his tongue. "Serious? This bastard orchestrated the whole Wolf Challenge, set you up countless times, and then jumped you with a group holding weapons."
The Elite group faltered and looked at Lukas. He always played to be the victim of the Wolf. They never guessed that he was behind everything that drove Jonas over the edge.
"A man who cannot face me directly is not worth our time." Jonas said with a shrug.
Hugh glared at Lukas. "Just let me break something."
Jonas reached up and gentle placed a palm on his cheek. His thumb caressed his cheek. Hugh instantly relaxed and nuzzled up against his palm. "Fine. You win."
Lukas started laughing. "Jonas Spencer is a fucking homo?"
Jonas sighed and let go of Hugh who already sauntered over to Lukas. "Jo never looked at you as a lover, and that must have driven you insane. I have seen desperate obsession like yours before. You're unhealthy jealousy turns violent and ugly. Jo is mine now, so back the fuck off."
Jonas raised an eyebrow. "Hugh, you make it sound like Lukas wanted something more than-" He stopped when he saw Lukas' face. It was twisted and unnerving, but extremely telling. "Oh... fuck"
Lukas glared. "I am not disgusting like you."
Hugh groaned and turned quickly, strategically swiping his elbow against Lukas's cheek, making him drop to the ground.
Jonas shook his head. "You pushed us into this war, Lukas. I hope you're ready for us to finish what you started." He grabbed Hugh's hand but paused when he saw security guards start climbing through the doors.
Jonas laughed when he saw a familiar face, one of the guards who would hit him the most. "Nice seeing you again, Ben. Hows the arm." Their last altercation resulted in a broken arm.
Ben glared at him. "You have no where to go, Wolf."
Jonas rolled his eyes and placed a hand over his heart, sarcastically acting like he was wounded. "I'm insulted. You all always underestimate me."
He pulled Hugh to the windows and kicked it open. Hugh cackled as they both jumped out on the tree next to the building and quickly climbed down. They strolled off campus hand in hand as if they had all the time in the world. They met the other Kings who were waiting for them at the entrance with wide smiles.
Sam laughed. "I swear you two are insane. You seriously treated this as a date?"
Hugh shrugged. "I think it's romantic. Fighting side by side and beating idiots senseless. Would have been better if we didn't have to deal with that jealous asshole."
Jonas rolled his eyes. "I seriously never knew he... you know." He shuddered thinking about it.
"That's because you're too innocent for such impure thoughts." Hugh joked.
Jonas leaned over. "There is nothing innocent about my thoughts, especially when I think of you."
Rodgers groaned. "If you're done with your flirting, I think we need to go because you two brought their entire security team."
They looked behind them and saw the guards running towards them. They jumped in the car, while Jonas and Hugh climbed on the motorcycle and they took off.
Word spread like wildfire that the Wolf King and the Mad Dog King waltzed into St. Vincent's, terrorized an Elite classroom, and strolled out without any injuries.
But more importantly, the war had begun.
