《Kings of Hawkings [bxb]》Chapter 31

Everyone from Hawkings relaxed during the weekend and readied themselves a new week of school. They were approaching winter break, so everyone was tense because of oncoming finals.

The Kings walked together from the dorms to the school, surrounded by a large group of boys. Cars would drive back and shout out cheers and encouragement. The Hawkings boys were excited and would holler back at the cars with delight.

They were so used to curses and not cheers.

The Kings only smiled and nodded occasionally. However Jonas and Hugh were in their own world carrying on their own conversation. Hugh's arm was wrapped around Jonas, and Jonas would lean into his body. They were completely oblivious of the things happening around them.

They were joking when they noticed that the boys all were crowded around the entrance of the school and the atmosphere was dark. The Kings all made their way through the crowd to greet a macabre scene.

In school's courtyard was an old oak tree. However, there were two animals hung from the tree by their necks; a pit bull and a wolf. They had plastic crowns tied to their heads, and were covered in wounds. The blood was still dripping in to a large puddle of blood under the tree.

Everyone had their eyes on Jonas and Hugh. They all knew that this was directed towards the Mad Dog and the Wolf.

Jonas had a cold look on his face as he approached the corpses. His face darkened further when he saw a knife was pinning something on the wolf's chest. At St. Vincent's, every uniform would have the school's sigil embroidered with their name. When he was jumped at the end of the school year, someone cut the sigil off of his jacket. He always hated admitting it, but he knew that the 'somebody' was Lukas. Even then, he had a hard time believing that Lukas would harm him like that, but reality was cruel and he had come to accept it. And now, that ripped fabric was pinned to the crowned dead wolf.

Jonas sighed. St. Vincent's would harm humans, it shouldn't be surprised that they would kill an animal no matter how innocent. "Hugh, can you cut them down with me?" He asked quietly.

Hugh's jaw was tense and his hands were balled into fists. But Jonas' voice brought him back. He quickly climbed the tree and cut the ropes while Jonas lowered the animal bodies to the ground gently.

He pulled the knife out of the wolf's body, coating his hand in blood but didn't flinch. He took the sigil in his hand and ran his fingers over it, touching the frayed stitching of his name. Hugh had already climbed down and hissed. "What the fuck is wrong with them."

Jonas felt a growl rumble in his chest. "The can't compete physically with us, so they switched to mind games."

The other Kings approached. "I think it worked. The whole atmosphere changed in the school. I don't know if they are pissed, scared, or both." Sam said quietly.

"I called animal control to take the corpses away. The teachers are getting a cleanup crew... This is really fucked up." Rodgers said.

Millan sighed. "What now?"

Jonas was glaring at the fabric in his hands and turned on his heel and started to storm off of the campus. The students looked at him curiously. Jonas had his phone out in his hand that wasn't bloodied and sent a quick message.

: Emilia, what class does Lukas has now?

: Joey??? English with Ms. Debbington

: Same room as before? He's actually there?

: Yes and yes. We're in the same class.

: K. Thanks

: What's happening?

: Joey???

Jonas put his phone away and didn't bother with the incoming text messages.

Hugh quickly made his way to Jonas's side. "Jo, what's the plan?"

Jonas titled his head towards Hugh. "How do you feel about a spontaneous date?"

"Sounds like a dream come true." Hugh said with a laugh.

"Good, I need to deliver something." Jonas said with a smirk.

The other Kings were right behind them. Millan laughed. "What are we delivering?"

Hugh pouted. "We? Why do you want to tag along on our date?"

"Because your dates always turn into something interesting." Sam said with a chuckle. "Don't hold out on us. What are we delivering?"

Jonas laughed and waived the bloodied sigil. "A declaration. Elites cower in the dark of night to kill animals. We'll meet them face to face and show them the pride of Hawkings and their Kings."

Rodgers smirked. "Hell yeah!"

Their conversation was loud enough that most of the crowded boys were able to hear. Their gloomy demeanor quickly disappeared and they all started to cheer. They were proud that their Kings would not stand by when something this horrific was left at their school.

Even some of the teachers heard, and they cheered inwardly because they have always disliked St. Vincent's.

The Kings rushed towards their dorms to get their vehicles. Hugh and Jonas were on the motorcycle while Sam, Rodgers, and Millan followed in their car and they raced towards St. Vincent's.

St. Vincent's Prep School sat on the edge of down on a hill and surrounded by trees. There was a long winding road that led up to the school that opened to a massive courtyard. It was filled with a rose garden and fountains. The school had several massive brick buildings with elegant archways and windows. It was clearly a school for the elite amongst society.

As they got closer, Jonas felt his stomach churn. He never wanted to be in the place again. But this time, he had Hugh with him and that made him feel better.

They parked on the edge of the courtyard, ready to leave at a moment's notice.

Their blue Hawkings jackets and casual jeans stood out like a sore thumb amongst the burgundy jackets and black slacks. However, that wasn't the only thing that stood out. Their entire aura was different from the students of St. Vincent's. They were devilishly handsome and screamed 'rebel'. Even the bruising on their faces made them attractive.

They decided that only Hugh and Jonas would enter the school and they would watch the exit. The school was deathly quiet and still because everyone was in morning classes. Only a few people would be walking around, but never in the front of the school unless they were ditching.

But those ditching were not Elites or people who stood high on the totem pole, so Jonas didn't worry about them.

Unlike usual, Hugh didn't hold on to Jonas. He kept his body ready and eyes vigilant. He knew that Jonas was jumped at this school and was caught unaware. He didn't want him to run into the same situation.

Even though he was tense, Hugh looked relaxed and kept asking Jonas random questions, making Jonas

grateful for the distraction. He was feeling leery by coming to this school because of his memoires, but Hugh knew exactly how to relax him. He also felt a sense of security knowing that Hugh was with him.

Jonas walked through the campus like it was second nature. He used to roam every corner of this school so his feet naturally led him.

Two younger girls saw them walking on the pathway and their eyes turned wide and let out a little yelp. Jonas turned a cold glance their way and they shrunk back a little. One girl nudge the other and she squeaked. Hugh grinned and chuckled.

"Got something to say darling?" He asked with a wink, making her blush deeply. Jonas caught it and paused his steps while raising an eyebrow. He quickly hid his bloodied hand.

"Um... we just think you two are really cool." One girl said and turned a bright as a tomato.

Hugh smiled wider. "Oh yeah? I thought we were pretty hated here."

The other girl shook her head. "By the Elites, but everyone else have different opinions."

Jonas snorted. "News to me."

They both looked down ashamed. "Sorry, Joey."

Jonas ran his hand through his hair and sighed. "It's Jonas. But it doesn't matter anymore. You two better scamper off. Don't get caught talking to us."

They giggled and ran off. Hugh chuckled. "That was unexpected."

"That was stupid on their part. Eyes are everywhere. They will probably have a hard time here now." Jonas groaned and started to make his way down the walk way.

Hugh looked around and noticed that there were quite a few people peering out the window, but their stares weren't filled with anger or with disgust. In fact many, had cameras and taking pictures. The girls were overly excited and blushing, pulling at one another and pointing.

"I don't know about that. I think that this school is more segregated than you thought." Hugh said with a shrug.

"Why you say that?"

"You are so focused on where you're going that you can't see the atmosphere surrounding you." Hugh said and gave a quick wave to one of the windows.

Jonas finched when he heard a group of girls cry out with excitement behind the glass. Jonas looked behind him and saw Hugh still with his hand up. It was then he noticed the people in the window.

"These buildings are mainly for Freshmen and Sophomores. However, if they are going to be Elites, their classes will be located in the back with the Elites." Jonas explained. He clicked his tongue. "Still, they shouldn't do that and make an enemy of the Elites."

"Oh, so we're taking our date to the Elites? How exciting." Hugh chuckled and walked causally next to him, but his eyes were observant.

Jonas nodded towards a building in the back that was definitely at a higher standard than the others. "My old stomping ground."

His eyes narrowed as he looked at the courtyard in front of the building and his body stiffened. This courtyard was where he was jumped. He never wanted to cross through it again.

"Jo?" Hugh asked, sensing his discomfort.

Jonas didn't answer as he glared at the area. How many people jumped him? People say a dozen, twenty, or even more. He couldn't even tell anyone the accurate number. All he remembered was swinging, kicking, and unbearable pain.

"Jo." Hugh's voice softened and his hand gently pressed on his back. "What happened here?"

Jonas rubbed the scar on the back of his head. "I made my decision here... to leave St. Vincent's and never come back."

Hugh flushed with anger. "Where they ganged up on you... fucking bastards."

Jonas sighed. "I didn't think I would ever step back in the god forsaken place again."

Hugh rubbed his back. "But this time you're not alone, sweetheart. No one can hurt you when I have your back."

Jonas smiled and nodded. "You're right. Shall we start our date?"
