“Tonight we'll dance

I'll be yours and you'll be mine

We won't look back

Take my hand and we will shine

She needs a wild heart

I got a wild heart.”

I bit my lip and fidgeted with my clutch as I waited, sitting on my bed.

"Kat, should I go downstairs?" I asked her.

She shook her head,"No, he said he'll pick you up from the door."

I sighed. Struggles on going on a date with someone living in the same house.

"I think I should go to the hall and not make it complicated. What if he thinks I am extra?"

Katherine looked at me with challenging eyes and raised a brow, "Think? Girl, you are extra."

I threw her a blank stare and chucked a pillow at her side. "Shut up."

She chuckled and winked at me before going back to her phone.

"What are you doing?" I asked in general.

She looked at me through her lashes before looking down and mumbling, "Oh... nothing..."

Her cheeks tinged pink and my eyes widened.

"Katherine Paxton is BLUSHING?" I exclaimed, gaping in shock.

"Shut up!" She said, her cheeks turning darker.

Don't get me wrong. Katherine has dated a few guys before and was chill about it. But she was never the mushy gushy, you-hang-up-first types. Infact she'd had a guy if he tried to do this.

So her blushing over a text message was a big deal. Because unlike me, she didn't blush easily.

I grinned and wiggled my eyebrows at her. "Who's the unlucky guy?"

Katherine pursed her lips at me and jut her chin in the other direction. "Me not telling you." She said in a cute voice and I laughed.

"Oh com'on, don't be a spoilsport!" I walked upto her side of the bed and tried coaxing her into telling me but at the same time a knock was heard on the door and we both looked at it at the same time.

"Oh shit."

"It's okay Oli. Just open the damn door. He's not going to eat you." Katherine said, rolling her eyes as I panicked.

Nodding frantically, I took a deep breathe and proceeded to open the door.

Chance was standing right in front of me wearing a denim shirt and black. His hair were messily tousled as usual and he wore the most beautiful smile on his face as he looked at me.

Honestly, I was starstruck at how captivating he looked. My heart thudded and my hands started turning clammy in anticipation as he too, looked at me from top to bottom.

I bit my lip once again and tried to not shy away as he looked at me because what if he thought I wasn't pretty enough?

I was kind of jealous to be honest, he could look so good in probably 5 minutes and it took me an entire hour to get ready for this.

I looked up to see him looking at me with an emotion I couldn't quite decipher. A small, loving small played on the corners of his lips and his eyes held so many emotions.

He stepped forward and took my hand in his. Leaning down, he whispered in my ears, "You look beautiful." His lips brushed my ears and I turned red.

I think I just died.

We left soon because apparently, Katherine didn't want to see a live Telenovela. And once we were out of the house, Chance guided us to his car.

He owned some Audi car, which one I have no idea. I am not into cars.

He opened the door for me before jogging towards his own side.

I giggled as I got in. "Chivalry isn't dead, huh?" I teased.

He shot me one of his signature, heartstopping grins as he started the car.

"Nope! And you are going to wait for me to open it once we reach, okay?" He said.

"I have hands, you know?" I mocked him, keeping a straight.

His eyes turned to me and they held a mischievous glint as he said, "Oh trust me, I do!"

My cheeks turned pink and eyes widened as I gaped at him.

"So where are we going?" I asked.

"Somewhere." He answered cheekily.

"Where somewhere?" I played along.

"Somewhere somewhere." He replied and I rolled my eyes.

"Seriously, just tell me. Are you taking me to the woods for picnic or something?" I asked and he shook his head.

At first he was calm but then his eyes widened in alarm. "Oh my god! You were not expecting to go to a picnic right? Because that's not—"

I slapped a hand over his mouth to shut him up before said. "No Chance, I didn't want that. Picnics are kind of cliche now."

He visibly relaxed and removed my hand from over his mouth, but not before kissing it.

"Good. Because it isn't anything related to the woods. I thought we live in the woods. We're werewolves. So we're used to it. I wanted to show you the city."

I smiled at him and mumbled a thank you.

He looked at me from the corner of my eyes and smiled.

He took one of my hands in his and entwined them together. He gave me hand a squeeze and proceeded to drive with the other hand.

Suffice to say, I couldn't stop smiling the whole ride.

"Are you kidding me?" I gasped, my eyes widening as I took in the building in front of me.

Chance grinned at me and sheepishly said, "I guess you liked it?"

"Like it? I LOVE IT!" I exclaimed as we walked inside the restaurant and I looked at my surroundings in awe.

It was one of the best restaurants of Manhattan with an amazing food and beautiful view. What else could a girl what? Emphasis on the food part.

"Thank you thank you thank you!" I whispered at him as he chuckled.

He told me that we had terrace bookings and I almost squealed in joy just then and there. I could see the entire Manhattan and New York City while dining with my mate on our first date.

How good does that sound?

Once my excitement died own. I realized one thing. This restaurant is expensive. And I didn't like that.

"Chance, why did you have to choose such as expensive place?" I asked, feeling bad that he's spending so much money on me.

He chuckled and his eyes were amused. "Minutes ago you were so happy, what happened!"

"I just realized it Chance. I don't want you to be spending so much. I'm serious. Let's go hit McDonald's or something. I'll still be happy! I'll be happy as long as I am with you. It doesn't matter. You don't have to spend a fortune for me. I just want to spend time with you. Nothing else..."

My ramble was cut off as Chance leaned down and placed a kiss on the corner of my mouth, shutting me up effectively.

My cheeks burned in embarrassment and I blushed like crazy at his gesture as he leaned back with a charming, smug smile.

"I love spending time with you too, love." He said and I almost sighed dreamily.

"Mexican?" He asked.

"Mexican." I said, grinning. He chuckled at me and we ended up ordering Mexican cuisine with is my favorite. Enchiladas, quesadillas and nachos with salsa sauce, sour cremé and chipotle sauce.

My eyes lit up in excitement as the food arrived and we talked about anything and everything while eating.

He told me about his best childhood memories and about the time he, Reece and Katherine tried to build up a tree house but ended up making one without a floor.

I laughed at this and I had to cover my mouth to not make too much of sound. But chance wasn't embarrassed. Infact his eyes shined and he grinned at me.

"Aw! Don't laugh at us! Remember our shock when we got in after days of hardwork to realize that we can't sit or stand or do anything on it because it has no floor. It had walls and roofs and even windows but no floor!"

I shook my head disbelievingly and chuckled at him as we fed on the most delicious Mexican food I've ever tasted.

As the bill arrived, I hastily took out my credit card from my wallet and shoved it towards Chance.

"I'll pay half of it." I told him and he frowned.

Shaking his head, he pushed the card back towards me and insisted on paying. "No you won't. I've got you on this date. You aren't paying."

My eyes looked at his pleadingly, as I tried to convince him. "I can't, Chance. My conscience won't let me. Please let me pay for my half. It's not about you, it's about my self respect and what I think of myself. I don't let anyone expect my parents pay for me. It doesn't feel right. Don't do this Chance."

He frowned at me, still not convinced. "But I am your mate, it's different." He whispered so that only I could hear.

I smiled at him. "It is. But this doesn't change. For me? Please?"

He sighed and nodded and we both gave our credit cards to pay half and half.

I smile contently. It felt good. I didn't like it when someone else paid for me.

And I am glad he respected it.
