Jackie's POV
It hurt so bad.
It broke my heart to see him sign the contract. It made me angry to see them kiss. It wasn't Lucas' fault, I was not mad at him. I was mad at Maddy. She was so cruel. The worst feeling I felt was helplessness. I couldn't do anything to stop everything as I watched them kiss.
I felt like my heart was ripped out of my chest and tossed into a larva. I felt like I could not breathe. It was at that moment I knew that people could die from heartbreak. I just couldn't withstand the sight and thought of losing Lucas to her.
"Finally," Maddy said and I raised my head.
I sniffed and glared at her when she looked at me, smiling wide with the contract pressed against her chest. She giggled and walked up to me.
"Won't you congratulate me?" She asked, craning her head to the side.
I formed some saliva in my mouth and spat on her face. She gasped and closed her eyes at the impact. I smiled at the sight of my spit on her face then chuckled.
"I already got what I wanted," she said and wiped the spit with a handkerchief she took out of her back pocket. She threw it away and stepped back. "The deed is done already. I am now Mrs. Maddy Hamilton. You lost and I have won."
Maddy approached Lucas who was facing downward. She wrapped her arm around his and placed her head on his arm.
"You'll learn to move on from her. I never thought you two would end up together anyway. We have a love-hate relationship and it's the best kind of relationship. It'll be hard for you but you'll learn to love me. I'm sorry it had to be this way, but you know you would do the same thing to get the one you love, right?"

Lucas moved his arm out of her grip and stared down at her in silence while she smiled up at him. He looked away and faced me. His eyes were hard and teary. I knew mine mirrored his. He started coming toward me, but Maddy grabbed his arm, stopping him.
"What do you think you're doing?" She asked.
Lucas didn't reply to her and only pushed her hand off his body. Maddy hissed behind him and glared at me. She scoffed and turned toward her goons.
"Get the car ready, we leave in five minutes," she ordered and they nodded.
The one holding me let go of me and I fell to the floor on my knees. Lucas rushed over to me and wrapped his arms around me in a hug. I didn't know what to do except cry on his shoulder.
"God, I am so sorry," he said. "Forgive me, please. I had no other choice, I could see you get hurt. I didn't want to lose you."
"I know," I said and pulled my head back. He tilted his back and looked into my teary eyes. "I know you had no choice. It's just sad to see us end this way."
"I'll fix everything. I don't know how but I will fix everything. Just know that I love you," Lucas said and cupped my cheeks.
"I love you too," I said with every feeling in me.
"I won't let her separate us. If I have to kill her, I will," he whispered to my hearing and placed his forehead on mine. "I will make sure we spend the rest of our lives together, my love. I won't let a sick and twisted person take us away from each other."
I whimpered and more tears fell down my cheeks. I sniffed and nodded my head when he kissed my forehead.

"Take care of her, Barry," Lucas said and I heard movement behind me.
"Enough already," Maddy said, approaching us. She grabbed Lucas by his arm and he rose to his feet. "He is mine now."
I watched as they walked away from me, heading toward the altar. Everything that had just happened came upon me like a heavy weight and I began to realize I was about to lose Lucas.
"He will never love you!" I yelled at the top of my voice. "He will never make you happy!"
I staggered to my feet as they turned around. Lucas was shaking his hand while Maddy was frowning.
"You are nothing but a desperate daughter of a bastard!" I yelled again, voice cracking.
Maddy left Lucas' arm and faced me fully.
"What did you just say to me?" She asked, voice low and dangerous.
"You heard me right! You can never force love! You can never force someone to love you! I don't think anyone can ever love you!" I said and Lucas made his way to me but stopped two feet in front of me.
"Jackie, stop," he whispered, shifting aside so I was able to see Maddy.
"No! She has to know that she will never take you away! You might be married to him but you have to understand that you will never be his wife. You are a clown, a fucking beast of nature who will forever be miserable for love!"
"Enough!" Maddy yelled. "Stop lying to yourself!"
"You're the one lying to yourself! You have brainwashed yourself into thinking you have it all. You are empty, poorer than I am. You are a coward! A weak daughter of a bastard! That's what you are— Pathetic!" I hollered, breathing heavily. My body was hot and shaking from all the anger in me.
"Coward?" Maddy questioned, tilting her head sideways. "I am a coward?"
I raised an eyebrow when she started to laugh, throwing her head backward. She placed her hand on her stomach and bowed her head, laughing harder. I exchanged a funny look with Lucas then looked back at her.
"Oh, I am not weak, pathetic, or a clown like you. I am more than the person that you are," Maddy said and moved her right hand behind her.
"I hope you suffer for the rest of your life," I swore with every hatred I had for her.
"Not if you do first in the afterlife," she said.
Her statement confused me but it was only when I saw her stretch out her right hand, did I see her holding a gun. My eyes became wide, my heart stopped beating and I felt everything around me become void.
Maddy pulled the trigger and the loud sound of the gun echoed around. I shut my eyes, ready for the worst. There was no way I could dodge a bullet even if I were to jump away. It was already too late. I shut my eyes tighter, waiting for the impact.
But it didn't come, making me slowly open my eyes. My eyes were facing the ground and I saw a shadow in front of me. I gasped and raised my eyes, only to feel my heart break at the sight of Lucas backing me.
"No!" I yelled out in fear.
