《The Alphas Unknown Daughter | ✓ (Rewritten)》Chapter Twenty-Eight

Nate had taken her.
He had kidnapped my daughter and had killed two of our pack warriors.
The feelings and sensations that I was feeling were immense. It was fear, terror, anguish and pure murderous.
Gabriel grabbed my shoulders harshly, pulling my body to his. His mouth moving, trying to communicate with me, but his words were mute. His lips were speaking but no words were coming out.
All my senses had disappeared, fear disabling me.
Gabriel shook me roughly, the movement waking me, pulling me out of my shocked state. "Lara!"
I closed my eyes, squeezing them tightly, my hands reaching up and into my hair, tugging at it tightly. He wouldn't hurt her; no Nate could never hurt Kennedy. He wouldn't do that. He wouldn't do that. I kept repeating to myself, trying to convince myself of the fact.
My wolf was pacing around my mind, begging to be released. She was pushing herself out as I held her down, needing to concentrate instead of allowing her to explode, to let a bomb off that I needed to dismantle.
Gabriel's hands grabbed my chin, his eyes penetrating mine, forcing me to investigate his. His wolf was out and at the surface of his control. "Lara, you need to talk to me. Where is Kennedy and who can you sense?"
My lips opened and words began spilling out my mouth, all in quick succession as Gabriel's hand left my chin and gripped my shoulders. "Nate, it's Nate Gabriel, he's taken our daughter."
"She's gone Gabriel." I whispered, my voice wavering as I attempted to hold back tears and swallow my panic. My knees were buckling beneath me, my full weight dropping onto Gabriel as he held me up.
He held me tight, unable to hold the dark growl that emitted from the depths of his throat. I couldn't see the orbs of his eyes, but I knew they would be blacker than black. The immense anger that radiates from his body told me so.
Gabriel began shouting orders, his words not sinking into my brain as wolves began to scatter across our territory, obeying and complying with the demands of their Alpha. I had barely noticed how many had encircled us, how many had followed us into the clearing.
Hours had passed by and nothing had been securing itself within my mind, I couldn't tell you anything I had heard over the past hour.
All I could remember was that Gabriel had picked me up and ran towards the pack house, to the main office where he dropped me on the couch and made frantic phone calls to surrounding packs.
With each ring, Gabriel grew more and more frustrated. Not that I blamed him, I felt completely useless.
He tried to disguise the worry in his voice, but I could hear it, it was low, but it was there.
Neighbouring packs that we had treaties with agreed to help find Kennedy, they were each sending out pack warriors and trackers to help in the search. I was incredibly graceful and wanted to go out searching myself, that idea was shot down quickly, Gabriel refusing.

The Blood Walkers had already sent out pack wolves to help with the search. Grace and Julian were both heading here along with Dylan. They had left early during the ceremony but were on their way back already.
Dan, Eli and a bunch of our warriors stormed through the office door, the sound of the door slamming against the wall didn't even fraise me. Taylor was following behind them and rushed over to me.
She rubbed her hand up and down my back trying to comfort me, but the only thing that would comfort me was my daughter. She continued the movements as Gabriel divided the wolves into groups and ordered them to do different tasks.
Trackers had already left our territory and were scouting on unclaimed land while others were ordered to find out more information on Nate. Gabriel wanted to know everything about him even the most minuet and irrelevant details.
Taylor stayed besides me the whole time as Gabriel continued to dial numbers and each time one was unsuccessful, he would slam the phone down, we were nowhere near closer to finding our daughter.
Gabriel's calm demeanour was beginning to fall apart. The despair and anguish he felt appearing once a menacing growl ripped through the air, his hands reaching for his laptop and the papers that scattered across the desk as he ripped them from their original place.
The laptop smashing violently against the wall, the papers flying about the room as silence filled the air.
Everyone looked towards Gabriel, watching their Alpha in a different light. His hands ran through his hair and down his face, his chest rising and falling brutally as he sighed deeply, the stress clear on his face.
'Leave.' I ordered through my pack mind link, dismissing every wolf in the office. I needed to comfort my mate and I knew I needed his.
They all scattered quickly, leaving Gabriel and I alone as I approached my mate. Wrapping my arms around his torso tightly, I laid my head against his back.
His muscles were tense underneath my fingertips, the tension slowly leaving his body from my touch.
Neither of us uttered a word, we just comforted one another. We had no good leads and Nate's scent had disappeared between the clearing and the trees. I had been lucky enough to catch his scent before it vanished.
Between the time we had been notified of Kennedy's abduction and the death of two pack warriors, Nate had at least half an hour to leave our territory. Tilly's little legs would have taken a while to get towards us at the BBQ.
He held me tightly, whispering a promise in my ear, hope and faith in my mate filling me up. "We will find her Lara. I promise you; I will find her."
"We will." I whispered back just as hopeful. Clinging onto my mate as tightly as I could. Hoping and praying that my daughter was safe, that no harm would come to her.

It has been a long terror-stricken week and we were no closer to finding Kennedy. All the leads we had received had been cut short and were useless, all of them turning out negative.

Nate had been moving around, leaving small trails but they quickly creased. He felt pleasure from my pain, enjoying that I was trying to chase him. Not for the reason that he wanted me to, but he allowed himself to believe that I was doing it for him. That I wanted him.
The whole week I had been feeling weak and tired, my body exhausted and drained. I had been struggling to eat, even refusing to eat. Gabriel had been stressing at me for it, demanding that I eat, he was worried for me.
Not only because of Kennedy and my health but because the last few weeks he had been requesting that I take a pregnancy test, ever since Taylor found out she was pregnant.
He was concerned for me and our potential pup.
It sounded utterly selfish and self-centred but all I wanted was to concentrate on Kennedy, I just wanted to find her and being forced to stay inside away from the search was making me feel hatred towards Gabriel.
I was begging to be out there, I needed to be the one to find her. I needed to be there for her, but Gabriel did not want to risk or endanger my safety. Desperation was not the word, I couldn't help but ponder how she was being treated, it was killing me not knowing.
Gabriel was the opposite, he was keeping up his façade, showing his pack that he was strong, but I could see straight through it. He tried to hide his emotions from me, some unknowingly slipping through.
When he did notice he would immediately put up his mind block. Disconnecting me from him.
My back leaned against my bath, my bare legs cold against the bathroom tiles before bringing them up to my chest. Tucking them in as I stared at the white stick, a clear blue pregnancy test.
I stayed cooped up in the bathroom for hours, the minutes flying by as I looked at the two blue lines. Both lines a deep blue in colour, the unmistaken meaning of their presence.
The positive sign frightened me, terrified me. In less than four months I would have another tiny baby in my arms.
"LARA?"
Hearing Gabriel shout my name, I scramble to my feet, hiding the three positive tests underneath a mountain of dirty washing in the laundry basket. I was not ready to share the news with Gabriel, I needed to gather my own thoughts about it first.
Inhaling a deep breath and breathing out, I made my way out of the bathroom to find Gabriel standing at our bedroom door. "You need to come to my office now." He said and we immediately made our way there.
Gabriel and six pack wolves were occupying the office along with Eli. Gabriel had been speaking so fast that I barely had time to understand what he had been saying. I managed to catch a few important words in the conversation.
They had apparently found some information on where Kennedy could be. The past week Gabriel had been hiding details from me, not wanting to scare me. What he did not know, was that I had sneaked into his office while he rested and had already seen his discoveries.
What he had found and what I had read had made me wish that I never snooped around.
Nate had been working alongside a crazed Alpha, an Alpha that Gabriel had mentioned to me before. The Alpha was set on taking revenge after the loss of his mate and unborn pup. His name was Marcus and he had become a substantial threat to all wolf packs across California.
He was fuelled by revenge because an Alpha had murdered his mate. She had entered claimed territory and she had been punished for it. Marcus and his mate were both born rogues, but Marcus carried Alpha genes.
He made it his business and vendetta to destroy as many packs as possible.
Marcus had already been accused of torturing and killing two Alphas along with one Luna. He had no reason to not harm Kennedy and that terrified me the most.
Thankfully, I could still feel her presence through the pack link, so she was alive but due to her age and not being able to shift, she couldn't communicate through the pack mind link. Only her presence through the pack could be felt.
We had even received a note, it had been placed on a tree along our border, Kennedy's blood had been present, droplets of her blood staining the paper. Gabriel had destroyed the note before I could read it, he did not want me to know the contents.
I stood in front of Gabriel's desk, looking up at him with so much hope as a wolf notified Gabriel that they had wolves searching the land at this very moment.
They knew of Kennedy's location, they had to.
Then Gabriel paused, his eyes glazing over as he spoke to someone via the pack mind link. His face suddenly fell and I stared up at Gabriel, my eyes pleading with his to confirm but he only shook his head sadly at me. I bit down on my bottom lip trying to stop it from trembling, then swallowed harshly, swallowing my heartache.
My legs buckled beneath me, collapsing, and falling into a hep on the floor. My knees hitting the ground and sobbing loudly.
Gabriel was instantly at my side, his arms pulling me up, but I didn't want to get up, I weighed heavily on him. Forcing myself to be limp, not willing, or able to use my own strength. I could only cling to his neck, my head hidden within his chest.
Gabriel pulled me onto his lap, gently rubbing circles on my back in comfort as I slowly calmed down. My wailing turning into soft sobs as he directed everyone to leave the room.
I had only just caught my breath, hiccups filling the silence in his office when a tracker barrelled into the room, breathless and red faced.
Our attentions were solely on him as he uttered the words, we were both desperate to hear.
"Alpha, we've found her."
